Shaded by ancient melaleuca gums, cooled by a sea breeze & secluded from public view, this delightful tropical venue will offer unique lasting memories of a truly special occasion.

I’ve been super amped to photograph an Ellis Beach Yacht Club wedding – having seen the venue pop up in on my radar many times.

So when I heard from Kristyn & Nick that they were getting married there, I was pretty excited!

Being a complete DIY venue, you really do have a blank canvas to work with and so much scope to create the wedding of your dreams. It’s also absolute beachfront – which (weirdly enough) isn’t all that common to find in Cairns.

Something that really stood out to me on the wedding day was how close and tight the family connections were – you could sense the strong bond & connection between Nick and his siblings, super powerful!

The way we love to work is capturing as much of the day in a candid / hands off nature as possible, just allowing the real stories to unfold – with a minimum of creative shoot thrown into the mix. This was a perfect fit for our vibe – beautiful beachfront wedding, super quick photoshoot literally on the beach right where the wedding took place, and then boom – back to enjoy the party!

The weather held out beautifully & as the light faded from the sky, the beautiful festoon ropes took over, everyone ate their allocation of carbs for the following week courtesy of the Good, Bad, & Fugly Food Truck – and the party pumped well into the night.

5th September saw me at the Cairns Yacht Club as I was lucky enough to act as the Celebrant for two friends of mine.  She was such a beautiful bride and literally ran down the beach to meet her future husband.  Such a beautiful wedding and one I will remember for a long time. We partied on for many hours afterwards with guests from Europe and interstate to wish this couple all the very best.

Ellis beach surf life saving club … the little jewel of the far north.

You get the Privacy, the Beauty & the Satisfaction in knowing that all proceeds go back to the Life Saver’s who keep our Beach’s Safe

To hire our function area for private use from 10am to 12 midnight $750, includes use of the kitchen and the bar with drinks priced using members pricing.

Deposit required to secure booking $50

We require a $50 deposit on booking. Please note : We are a licensed venue.

If you do decide to book with us a few good things to know:

All profits from this function and all other functions go directly to the Ellis Beach Surf Life Saving Club which means your money goes to keeping our beaches safe and the kids outside achieving their goals, being educated participating in sports and staying healthy.

If you don’t have a firm date, keep in mind that if you can pick a weekend that has a full moon or close to it, the place is even more gorgeous.

Many of our wedding couples and their guests choose to stay at the lovely “Ellis Beach Oceanfront Bungalows” which is just a short stroll up the beach.
