All Next Generation Gamefishermans, exclusively designed by Naval Architect Erwin Gerards, encompass all that’s needed to comfortably fish and travel by being built with lots more creature comforts —without reducing fishing performance. With those important factors being blended, fuel efficient, easy riding trips to the islands and other locales are most achievable. Erwin brings 20 years of design/build experience with some of the best in custom yacht building, His impressive knowledge and extensive experience draw all sport fishing enthusiasts to turn to him to co-plan their perfect vessel.
With a passion for anything boating and fishing, Erwin moved to South Florida in 1999 when he was hired as the in-house Naval Architect at Rybovich Spencer. The head builder there, Gary Hilliard, took him under his wing and Erwin became a sponge learning the gamut on sport fishing boats as well as the very tight industry he was now a small part of. It’s a bit interesting to know that Gary had originally been hired by Mike Matlack who used to be the Rybovich yard manager there (before he created Gamefisherman). Erwins designs and construction methods can be attributed to the lessons he learned from Gary. When Rybovich Spencer was sold to the Huizinga family in 2004, Erwin left to start his own design firm, EG Designs.
These next years, found Erwin designing custom sport fish for Michael Rybovich, Gamefisherman, Garlington. His unique set of tools and insight from working with these top builders, is what sets Gamefisherman apart.
There is another arm involved in this machine…a custom sport fishing boat owner, operator, well used to maintaining vessel after vessel…Scott Dunnuck. A true family man who also oversees the building of these great sport fishing boats. His love for the ocean began at an early age when his dad became a charter captain and led Erwin to begin building his knowledge. Getting to sit and talk ‘shop’, at such a young age, with some of the best offshore fishing experts at a young age, fed his engine to continue his venture.
Thirty years as a commercial real estate broker/investor, he then was given the opportunity to purchase Gamefisherman from Mike Matlack and he looked to his friend, Erwin, to be his partner. Perhaps his love for restoring old classic sport fishing boats or his around the world fishing trips with family, he knew this move was right.
As we see the company today, Erwin and Scott heard Mike Matlack hint that he wanted to pass this legendary company onto new blood and they were thrilled to be the chosen ones to carry on the Gamefisherman brand. The timing was perfect for all!
Matlack founded Gamefisherman in 1985 and succeeded at producing the finest sport fishing boats around. Scott Dunnuck and Erwin Gerards bought the company in 2018–and continued the trend of pumping out high-quality sport fish —and there was a lot to look up to with Gamefiserman’s busy ownership launching 58 boats in that period. You’ll hear of Gamefisherman being spotted all around the world now with records of catching the most exotic species.
These boats are built to the highest of yacht standards as well as to American Boat and Yacht Council Specifications standard. They are the best addition, worldwide, to any mothership operation and expedition fishing.
These sport fishing beauties have been built in the traditional cold molded as well as a fiberglass boat in a variety from 30’ to the latest 50’ express. Gamefisherman can boast the title of premier builder of mid-size, classic sportfishing boats. Clean designs, superior performance and low maintenance is the code behind every Gamefisherman built. Gamefisherman focuses on building the classics… and building them well!
Naval Architect Erwin Gerards is the builder supreme of all Gamefisheman boats since 2018. These current models feature an innovative proprietary bottom that compliments the latest in engines. The finished product shows a reduction in drag and surprises with it’s a smoother, dryer ride. Using their CFD analysis software (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to simulate an extensive tank test simulation, every Gamefisherman is tested and true. Their in-house design team have the ‘can do’ attitude any customer would be pleased with.
They will never neglect the custom traditional models though but.…For those looking for the best in efficient fishing, Gamefisherman is proud to give birth to this new line of semi-custom composite models —the NEX GEN series. This line of 43’ sport fishing boats has a classic look with state-of-the-art technology—built with high strength composites.
Traditional models include 40’ Flybridge, two 48’ Express’ with two different optional layouts, 48’ Flybridge, 50’ Express and a 50’ Flybridge. The Next Gen composite models consist of their 43’ Express with four different layout plan options, and a 43’ Flybridge —also with four layout options. There are two 46’ and one 50’ Outboard with walk-arounds as we wrap up the Next Gen offerings too.
In the limited production arena, Gamefisherman brings back the classic 30’ express and walk-around. They believed this classic deserved another chance with the latest and greatest from our times. The 30’ was known as the ‘biggest small boat’ in boating. With great performance anticipated, she can be fit with single or twin inboards, as well as with bracket mounted outboards. Look for your choice of a 30 center, 30 walk-around, 30 express, or even, a 26 bay.
Wrapping up the Gamefisherman story may have you wrapping one up as your next gift to yourself as quality and innovative design lure you in like a fish on the line!

HULL and DECK EQUIPMENT
Murray Brothers Teak Ladderback helm chair with 3-inch stainless steel pedestal and swing around teak tread footrest.
High Seas Fabrication aluminum Marlin Tower (new in 2005) with cored fiberglass hardtop, LED color-changing spot lighting beneath, and red/green LED running lights molded into the forward corners. Tower station has a white fiberglass control box with stainless steel Ongaro custom helm wheel and speed knob, digital tachometers, and engine temp gauges. There is a padded coaming belly-band and a cushioned bench seat with padded backrest incorporated to the fiberglass sunshade support (Sat dome in mounted on top, GPS/XM antennas, as well as an anchor light mast, with the spotlight just ahead of it). The aft underside of the sunshade has two cockpit 12v spreader lights molded into it.
Bridge deck has a varnished teak cap railing and a track-to-track mounted Strataglass and white Stamoid center enclosure panel with a large opening U-zip forward. The two enclosure curved forward side panels are rigid/clear EZ2CY and two aft side panels are Stratglass (there are 5 total panels). The centerline helm console has a perfectly varnished teak helm pod with polished stainless single-lever side engine controls, and polished stainless Ongara custom helm wheel with speed knob. The pod instrument cluster is framed by a chrome fastener-free trim bezel with glass cover. Just ahead is a hinged opening electronics pod with smoked glass insert, when upright supported by stainless gas shocks. Portside of this console are a row of tackle or gear drawers behind a door. Just forward of the console is the drop down hatch to the center engine room.
To either side of this center console are teak trimmed, cushioned bench seating. These seats can be hinged up to access large storage areas beneath them. If more than daily engine service access is needed, both bench front panels can be removed and large deck hatches above both motors can be opened, outstanding access to all sides of the engines. It is notable that throughout the boat virtually all the hinged hatches have stainless steel gas shocks.
Moving towards the cockpit there are four well insulated boxes, two to either side that can be used as ice boxes, for drinks/bait/food, or storage. Each box has capacity to keep 60 pounds of ice and the lids are channeled and gasketed. When closed the position of these boxes also provide nice seats for the cockpit, aft facing, great for trolling or chunking.
There are two steps down from the bridge deck to the non-skid painted cockpit deck. The one step is teak decked and it can hinge up to allow storage for brush handles, boat hook, gaffs, etc. Below is the single fuel fill of the one fiberglass diesel tank beneath the forward cockpit deck. To the port side under the gunwale forward are spigots for fresh and saltwater washdowns. To the starboard side are shore power inlet connection for 30amp cord and a connection for a cable TV cord. There are LED cockpit lighting strips (white/blue) beneath the coverboards. The cockpit corners have stainless steel line hawsers, inboard are polished stainless steel cleats, and below on the deck are corner scupper drains. The two outboard aft deck hatches allow access to the rudder table and aft bilge area, these hatches are guttered and drained to the scuppers. There are also two transom underwater lights and a transom running light. A varnish teak step box not on the boat currently, but is included.
Moving out towards the bow, the toe railing is painted out to match the deckhouse, sans bow rail, with a single deck hatch (above the head's shower stall). Just forward is a hinged-opening, small anchor locker with the stock secured for the Guardian G-16 anchor with 15 feet of chain and 300' of 1/2" nylon rode which is beneath a polished stainless anchor rode hawser just aft. To either side of the locker are stainless mounted cleats with skene fairleads just forward and outboard on the toe rail and in center on the stem is a straight fairlead for anchoring. There is drainage at the base of the centerline forward toe rail. Light non-skid finish on foredeck with a slight crown.
Vinyl canvas covers for: tower station, lower helm station, helm chair, and rocket launcher. Cushions are stored inside the cabin when not in use.
Cold molded WEST SYSTEM construction. Reported bottom construction is 4 ply diagonally laminated Laurel, fiberglass sealed inside and out. Raked Mahogany stem and stringers. Modified-V hull shape with 7.5 degrees deadrise at transom. Hull has full length chine rails and aft hull side spray rails with modest tumblehome noted at transom. Hull-side engine-room air intake vents. White rub rail with polished stainless steel strike plate strip. The entire boat was painted inside and out in 2015 with Awlgrip 2000, by Hawk Eye Custom Yacht Refinishing. Hull is L&H Green with Jade Green boot stripe and green SeaHawke CUKOTE antifouling. Snow White decks, deckhouse, bridgedeck, and the cabin is a combination or Snow and Matterhorn white. Engine room is Matterhorn white.
Cabin and Interior Equipment
The cabin is entered on the bridge deck forward of the helm console. A teak louvered entry door has a fold back hatch top which when closed has an overlapping hasp latch for secure closure with a padlock. When open the teak door slides down to disappear into a pocket and the hatch lid tilts up firmly held by two gas shocks. Immediately to port at the entry door are four large drawers for tackle and/or equipment storage. Four steps down mahogany stairs to the cabin sole.
The interior has a Herreshoff styled elegance with neatly painted white bulkheads and cabinets trimmed with nicely vanished wood trim throughout. The portside is a large mahogany countertop with a brushed stainless steel undermounted sink and simple chrome gooseneck faucet and chrome soap dispenser. The center of the counter is a opening refrigerator compartment. Above and aft is the main electrical panel and below the Cruisair digital A/C thermostat control flanked to either side by the inverter operation switches. Below are the Fusion remote stereo panel, light switches (LED lighting), 12v/USB power plug, and 110v outlet. Next forward are two open oval cutout cubby storage compartments and then two doors with more storage compartment shelves and a 110v outlet. On the forward bulkhead is a wall-mounted Axess 20" color flat panel TV and in the cabinet a Direct TV receiver connected to the KVH Trackvision controller and antenna.
To the starboard side of the cabin are two bunk berths with their cushions upholstered in a earth tone tweed material and the bed rails of varnished wood. 12v reading lamps in the aft upper corner of each berth with sleeping pillows. The top berth can be dropped into a vertical channel to make this side of the cabin into a settee. Below the lower berth is a large storage compartment where many spare boat items are currently kept. The white cabin headliner is trimmed with mahogany batons. This cabin sole has a mahogany and holly sole presently protected by a small area rug.
In the cabin on the starboard aft bulkhead is a wall-mounted ACR Satfind 406mhz EPRIB.
Next forward is a hinged, solid mahogany door with louvered lower half and a varnished wood trimmed door frame that leads into the head area. Above and on either side of this door are LED strip lighting fixtures which are operated by manual switches. On the portside is a mahogany vanity top with a circular polished stainless sink with small chrome faucet. Below is a cabinet with a wood faced shelf for towels or toiletry storage. Above the sink is a wood faced shelf with a new deco styled Magic Chef microwave oven. Across to starboard side of the compartment is a Jabsco hand-pump manual marine head. Just aft and above the head is a wood shelf and nearby 110v outlet. There are a couple of cubby storage areas behind and beneath the head, above is a wood faced shelf. There is an A/C vent into this area. Next forward is the shower stall with overhead deck hatch above and triangular shaped teak strip seat. There is teak grate floor in this stall with a sump box and pump/float switch beneath the grate. A spigot attaches to a shower wand, normally stored below the sink. Forward is a door that gives access to the anchor rode locker and a wood framed mirror is mounted on this door. The mahogany baton trim of the headliner continues into these two forward compartments. The sump also has a manual control switch just below the vanity sink top. Note: this head layout is slight different than the manufacturer's layout drawing posted with this listing, with the head to starboard opposite of the sink, making room for the shower stall forward.
