Feadship celebrates launch of 75m Arrow
An emotional moment for first-time superyacht owner….
On Friday 10 January, Feadship hosted the official naming ceremony of its latest vessel. This is the first time that 75m Arrow has been seen with her lighting added and exterior outfitting complete.
The ceremony started with a speech from Henk de Vries thanking the owner. “While all Feadships are pure custom projects, there have been quite a number built recently around the 90-metre mark, considerably longer than the 60-metre spectrum that was more common a decade or two ago. At 75 metres, Arrow is right in the middle of this range and a trailblazer for a new and ground-breaking line of super-luxurious boats in this length. She is also an exceptional personal family yacht, quite possibly the best we have ever completed. Arrow is the perfect way for Feadship to launch into a new decade with a cutting-edge design that is very much the face of this period of the 21st century.”
His first ever yacht purchase, the owner of Arrow stated that the launch is an emotional moment for him. “Although I had a ten-foot dingy as a child, this is actually my first real boat. I have, however, seen many other people’s superyachts in my life and have to say that Arrow is the most beautiful and amazingly executed of them all.
“Working together with Henk and the whole team at Feadship has been an absolute pleasure since the day we agreed the contract. The way everyone seamlessly cooperated to blend the exterior with the interior was an unrivalled experience for me. Having now seen the end result there is no doubt in my mind: the best car is a Rolls-Royce and the equivalent in the superyacht world is definitely a Feadship.”
According to data from The Superyacht Agency, Feadship currently has four more vessels due for delivery in 2020. Additionally, in support of Henk de Vries’ statement, when looking at the average LOA of yachts delivered since 2010, it is evident that Feadship is currently delivering larger yachts than in previous years

Breaking news, british billionaire lists his 246-foot yacht for $150.66m.
A hedge fund billionaire striving for even greater decadence has listed his old megayacht for sale.
Apparently not satisfied with his sprawling mansion at sea, British banker Michael Platt has put his 246-foot ship Arrow up for sale to the tune of $150.66 million.
(In contrast, the average Manhattan street is roughly 264 feet long .)
The listing comes as the 54-year-old financier collaborates on an even bigger boat with the Dutch shipyard Feadship, Bloomberg reported .
According to a source familiar with the man’s yacht holdings, the next vessel will be 360 feet long, or 51 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty.
Meanwhile, the comparatively plebeian Arrow will soon be on display at the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
Although diminutive in comparison to the beast of a boat the UK’s second-richest person has in the works, Arrow will be the largest yacht on display at the show, according to Bloomberg.
The vessel has six staterooms, a movie theater, a massage room and a bar-equipped sky lounge.
Built in 2020, the steel and aluminum boat has a “sleek exterior with amazing glass bulwarks” and a “masculine interior,” according to its Fraser Yachts listing .
There’s a gym, an elevator, a sun deck with a hot tub and “sunbathing areas” aplenty — and an owner’s suite with an office and dressing room.
Oh, also, there’s a beach club with two foldable balconies, another bar, a sauna, a dive store and a “toy area.”
In addition to upgrading from the excessive luxury of his current seafaring situation, Platt is also planning on making his living quarters even more unfathomably deluxe.
His Central Park South penthouse, it would appear, no longer pleased the man — who the Bloomberg Billionaires Index values at $11.2 billion — so he recently listed it for $21 million.
Now, Bloomberg reported, he plans to move to a full-floor unit nearby in Central Park Tower.

Feadship’s New 246-Foot Superyacht Has a Design Sharp Enough to Slice Through the Water

With a simple but dramatic exterior defined by sharp, angular lines, compressed space between the decks and a razor-like bow, Feadship ’s new 246-foot creation presented little challenge when it came to a moniker. At launch, the owner made a point of its profile by naming the yacht Arrow .
“She’s a trailblazer, with a cutting-edge design that is very much the face of this period of the 21st century,” noted Feadship director Henk de Vries during the christening. “She is also an exceptional family yacht, quite possibly the best we have ever completed.”
London-based H2 Yacht Design paid particular attention to details such as low glass railings, wide gangways and the hot tub with a custom mosaic pattern. Such granular consideration extends to the varnished teak furniture, which is elaborately accented and surrounded by backlit marble.
The owner, whose only previous watercraft was a 10-foot dinghy as a child, was clearly emotional upon delivery. “This is actually my first real boat,” he told the assembled guests. “I have, however, seen many other people’s superyachts and have to say that Arrow is the most beautiful and amazingly executed of them all.”
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Feadship (@feadship)
Jonny Horsfield, who led the H2 design process, wanted to create a “contemporary, fresh” profile. “The surfacing and shapes of the yacht are quite complex,” he says. “At the same time, it’s very clean and flowing. I’m a car designer by training, so proportions are important. We’re fortunate Arrow ’s owner didn’t want too much of a superstructure and didn’t push to use every square foot of the interior.”
The absence of the usual top deck also gave Horsfield and his team the latitude to create a sleek, uncluttered profile. “We’ve designed some accommodation hidden in the upper arch, so they can still use the upper deck,” he explains. “But it’s a more subtle design than you see on most yachts her size.”
Horsfield is also pleased with the name selected. “It suits the overall styling, especially the way the windows are shaped and move forward into the pointed hull,” he says. “We even created a logo for it that looks like an abstract arrowhead.” Although not confirmed as of press time, the superyacht is expected to debut to the public at the Monaco Grand Prix in May.

The Acquisition
Off the Hook Yachts is proud to announce the acquisition of Georgetown Yacht Basin (GYB) now rebranding under Georgetown Yacht Haven – a 300-boat slip full-service marina located on the Sassafras River in Georgetown, MD. Vida - 2019
Customised features
As with all Heesen series yachts, Vida includes several highly customised features designed to meet the specific requirements of her highly experienced owner. As she will serve as a mothership for a fleet of sportfish boats, Vida’s original design for a forward tender garage was reworked to create a larger owner’s suite, with the foredeck itself now catering to two tenders. Her sundeck hardtop has also been raised six inches to allow for more headroom – a feature that will be carried forward to future models – with the resulting design carefully considered so as not to upset the perfect balance of her profile.
First impressions
Muscular, elegant, angular yet svelte, Vida’s exterior lines come from the board of Omega Architects’ Frank Laupman. Like other yachts in the 55m Steel series, Vida’s profile is clean and crisp, with characteristic floor-to-ceiling windows providing uninterrupted views while flooding the interior with natural light.
Step aboard
Stunning both in layout and in style, Vida’s interior impresses from the very first moment you step on board. Based on architecture developed by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini, her finish and décor comes from Be Design in Boca Raton, Florida – the studio’s first yacht interior project.
