Assembly With a yarn needle, sew sails together and then sew them to the hull. Using photo as reference, sew on life preserver and embroider letters.

Free crochet boat pattern

Try this fun and easy free crochet boat pattern! It works fantastic as sailboat wall decor and can also be used as a crochet boat applique. To add dimension and texture, you can stuff the boat with poly-fil. The sailboat consists of two parts: the boat and the sail. The sail is worked back and forth in rows, increasing on the sides and at the top of the triangle. Then, you assemble the sail to the boat while working the bottom of the sail. Use 100% cotton yarn for better blocking results, as the boat tends to curve. A 4.0mm crochet hook will give you a boat approximately 1.75 inches high and 4 inches wide.

Ocean Friends Crochet Appliqués: Starfish, Jellyfish, Turtle, and Seahorse

I’m working on a Crochet Chevron Waves Blanket (blanket pattern coming soon!) and after crocheting just a few rows of the blanket I decided that it needed some ocean friends to hang out in the water waves! I originally was going to just make a Starfish but then I was inspired to crochet a few other fish so the Jellyfish, Turtle and Seahorse joined the gang! Below are the written patterns for 4 crochet appliqués plus video tutorials for each one! I hope you enjoy these cuties and use them for many different projects! Let me know what you make by tagging me @RepeatCrafterme on social media.

I used Bernat Super Value yarn for each of these ocean friend appliqués and I am also using Bernat super Value for the waves blanket as well. I love these pretty solid shades that coordinate so well with each other!

Starfish: Materials: – Bernat Super Value yarn in Pumpkin Orange (or any orange) – Size H Crochet Hook – 6mm Safety Eyes – Small strand of black yarn or embroidery thread -Tapestry needle Finished Size = approx 6 x 6 inches

Starfish Pattern: with Bernat Super Value in Pumpkin Orange Magic ring, chain 1, make 10 SC in magic ring, join to first SC (10 SC) change to color B Round 2: Chain 1, 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join to first SC (15 SC) Round 3: Chain 8, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next 3 stitches, DC in last 3. Now you have made one of the points of the star. Skip two stitches and join with a slip stitch. Now Chain 8 and repeat process until you have all 5 points. Round 4: SC around the edges of all 5 points. Fasten off leaving long tail Add safety eyes and stitch on a smile!

Jellyfish: Materials: – Bernat Super Value yarn in Rouge – Size H Crochet Hook – 6mm Safety Eyes – Small strand of black yarn or embroidery thread -Tapestry needle Finished Size = approx 8 x 3.25 inches Jellyfish Pattern: with Bernat Super Value in Rouge Magic Ring, chain 2 and make 10 DC in ring, do not join, pull tight so you have a half circle. Chain 2, turn Row 2: 2 DC in each stitch around (20 DC), do not turn Work 10 SC along bottom edge of jelly fish and continue around making a SC along the half circle head of jellyfish, join Now make jelly legs along bottom edge: Chain 20, slip stitch in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down, slip stitch to join to next stitch, slip stitch in next and chain 25, slip stitch in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, slip stitch to join to next stitch, repeat making 3 more legs. I alternated between 20 and 25 chains to make the legs different lengths.

Add safety eyes and stitch on a smile with black yarn

Sea Turtle: Materials: – Bernat Super Value yarn in Kelly and Fern Green – Size H Crochet Hook – 6mm Safety Eyes -Tapestry needle Finished Size = approx 6 x 6 inches Turtle Pattern: starting with Bernat Super Value in Kelly Green Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1 Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC) Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC) Round 4: SC in each stitch around, (30 SC) Join in Bernat Super Value in Fern Green Round 5: SC in each stitch around, join, (30 SC) Round 6: Chain 4, SC in second stitch from hook, HDC in last two, skip a stitch and slip stitch to join to next stitch (tail made), slip stitch in next 3, Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook, 2 HDC in next, 2 HDC in next, DC in last, skip a stitch and slip stitch to join to the next stitch (1st leg made), slip stitch in next 3, Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook, 2 HDC in next, 2 HDC in next, DC in last, skip a stitch and slip stitch to join to the next stitch (2 nd leg made), slip stitch in next 3, Chain 8, DC in 4 th chain from hook, TC in next 2, DC in last two, skip two stitches and slip stitch to join to the next stitch (head made), slip stitch in next 3, Chain 7, SC in second chain from hook, DC Decrease over next two, DC Decrease over next two, DC in last, skip a stitch and join with a slip stitch to the next stitch (3 rd leg made), slip stitch in next 3, Chain 7, SC in second chain from hook, DC Decrease over next two, DC Decrease over next two, DC in last, skip a stitch and join with a slip stitch to the next stitch (4 th leg made), slip stitch in remaining stitches and fasten off leaving long tail.

Add two little safety eyes to the head.

Seahorse: Materials: – Bernat Super Value yarn in Lavender and Light Damson (dark purple) – Size H Crochet Hook – 6mm Safety Eye -Tapestry needle Finished Size =. approx. 7 x 3 inches

Seahorse Pattern: Starting with Bernat Super Value in Lavender Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1 Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join (20 SC) Round 3: Chain 26, SC in second chain from hook and in next 14 chains, HDC in next, DC in next 2, TC in next 3, DC in next 2, HDC in next, SC in last two, skip a stitch in join with SC to next stitch, SC in next, chain 4, 2 HDC in second chain from hook, slip stitch in last two chains, join to next stitch with a SC, SC in next 4, join in dark purple yarn ( Bernat Super Value in Light Damson ), 2 SC in next + chain 1, slip stitch in next, *2 SC + chain 1, slip stitch in next, (do this * 5 more times), SC in next, 2 HDC, 2 DC + 2 TC + 2 DC all in next stitch, 2 HDC in next, SC in next 11, slip stitch in remaining stitches along tail…work a few slip stitches around the tip of tail, fasten off. Add a safety eye to face.

This bass clef is super easy and can be made in just 10 minutes! All it takes is three parts sewn together.

Meet Isabelle!

Isabelle is a professional violinist and violin teacher from Ireland who now lives in Germany. Music is her passion and has been part of her entire life; she has received multiple awards, been a part of many classical performances, and has founded the International Music School, Munich (IMS).

She began her crochet journey in 2018, starting with amigurumi. Finding immense joy in gifting her creations to friends and family, crochet quickly became one of her favorite hobbies to express herself outside of her musical pursuits.

As she gained experience, she decided to expand her skills and design her own patterns. In the beginning, she only crocheted her designs as gifts for her students as prizes for achieving goals or celebrating the end of a successful concert.

Her students loved her unique, handmade gifts so much! Isabelle wanted to share that joy with others, so she decided to write down her patterns so others could access them as well.

If you hop on over to her Etsy shop , you will find a variety of small, easy patterns inspired by her passion for music. Not only does she have three types of clefs, but she also has different types of notes and rests.

She finds immense joy in combining her passion for music with her love of crochet. She plans to expand her musical patterns so more people can delight in handmade items!

Abbreviations (US)

Sc: Single crochet
Hdc: Half double crochet
Dc: Double crochet
Sl st: Slip stitch
Inc: Increase
Dec: Decrease

Tools and Materials

2.5 mm crochet hook
tapestry needle and scissors
rainbow cotton 8/4, colour of choice (note: you can do these with any sort of yarn type, but cotton will grant you crisper stitches!)

Final Size: 8cm

Technical Notes

To crochet along chain, push crochet hook through one loop of each stitch on the chain.
If you wish to use these for music lessons or for keychains, you may want to soak them in laundry starch to stiffen up the wool.

Instructions

Circular parts (make 3).

R1: sc 6 in magic ring (6 sts)
Sl st into first stitch to join round
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing on two circles
Sew in all ends on one circle; sew in thread from magic ring on the other two, leaving the tail for sewing onto the bass clef.

Stem (make 1)

Ch 39, turn
Starting from 2nd ch from hook:
In same stitch: Sc, sl st
Do not fasten off

Attaching to circular part of bass clef

To attach circle with all ends sewn in, push through first stitch in round (where the sl st to join was placed), sc to attach
Rd 2: Sc in same stitch, sc inc x 5 (12 sts)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing

Finishing off

Using tapestry needle, push through the 3rd loop, on bass clef stem, counting from the join to the circle, from front to back.

Sew a couple of stitches to close up the gap between circle and stem.

Arrange the bass clef flat on a table and pin on the crocheted dots, sew on using a couple of stitches and sew in all ends.

SKILL LEVEL: intermediate. You need to know how to crochet a magic loop, chain, single crochet, slip stitch, to make an increase.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

yarn: you can use any smooth yarn of any structure, any thickness and color. All the details of the presented toys are crocheted with a yarn of the same thickness. I used the cotton/acrylic yarn 160m/50g (Sport/5ply or DK/8 ply);
the hook 1,5 mm (B/1) or of the other size, matching for your yarn;
a gobelin needle with a blunt end for fasten of the threads;
marker or marker thread to point the end of the row;

SIZE OF THE READY TOYS: boat - 3x6 cm (1 .18” х 2.36”), sailboat - 5x7 cm (1.97” х 2.76”), if using the pointed yarn.
