There are over 80 species of cetaceans, a group made up of whales, dolphins and porpoises of which 27 have been seen in the Canary Islands. Due to the enormous diversity of species in the waters around Gran Canaria there so many sightings all year round for dolphins & whales!
The word “cetacean” is from the Latin cetus , which means “large sea creature”. It refers to the group of marine mammals that includes all whales, dolphins, and porpoises.
Dolphins are famous among people because they are graceful and beautiful creatures. Their incredible performance while jumping in the ocean and their friendly face have made people like dolphins.
However, probably the most attractive feature that has made dolphins very appealing to humans is their intelligence which has no equal in the animal world.
Dolphins communicate through a language that includes sounds with different purposes, as humans do, as well as samples of behaviors related to pleasure, fun, teaching and social coexistence. That is why some have insisted on considering them “non-human people,” which gives them a little more “special” treatment.

We had an unforgettable day on the Party Boat on yesterday! From start to finish, everything was well-organized. The booking process was smooth, and the transfer to the boat was quick and efficient. The crew was super friendly and made sure everyone felt comfortable, even if they didn’t speak the same language. They were always available to help and made the experience even more enjoyable.
The boat had a great vibe, perfect for a fun party at sea! The drinks, including the Mojito and Sangria, were refreshing and hit the spot. The music was a mix of great hits, and there was always something going on to keep the energy high.
The banana boat ride was a thrilling highlight, and even though it was short, it added the perfect amount of excitement to the day. We really appreciated how they ensured everyone's safety while still making it fun.

Sagitarius Cat Dolphin Trip
Come on board – Sail with us for a day on a catamaran along the west coast of Gran Canaria and, with a bit of luck, experience dolphins, flying fish and turtles up close!
After the pick up at the hotel, we go directly to the port of Puerto Rico, from where we start with our catamaran.
We drive along the west coast, accompanied from time to time by dolphins, which can be admired here in their natural habitat. Flying fish, turtles and even whales also call this area home.
In one of the beautiful bays, we then drop anchor for a long swim break. Here everyone can take part in the popular banana ride. The crystal clear water also invites you to admire the variety of fish.
For the more adventurous, there is a parasailing offer, as well as a reduced price on the jet ski ride.

We board the Supercat Catamaran Boat on the harbour of Puerto Rico. The Supercat is a very impressive and purpose built for Dolphin Tours. It is 30 metres long and 12 metres wide and glides perfectly through the water with minimum disturbance to the sea life and maximun comfort for you. The capacity of the boat it 240 people. To ensure that everyone on board is comfortable with plenty of room, we take a maximum 100 passengers on each trip.
The Canarian coasts attract very large amounts of plankton, due to its tides and this creates the perfect feeding ground for around 29 species of sea life. Orcas, Sperm Whale, Rough Whales, Beaked Whales and many more have been spotted only 12 miles from the coast.
Often large Pods of Dolphins will follow the nose of the catamarán for part of your journey and this is a great chance to take some wonderful footage. Imagine seeing Dolphins playing together, jumping around into the air from the sea. It is so much better than in a swimming pool situation. Spotted, Common and bottle nosed Dolphins are very playful and like to race through the ocean, along side the catamarán.
As well as enjoying this amazing Dolphin search, we want you to enjoy the comfort of the boat. There are seats on the top deck for you to enjoy the sun as we cruise along. On the lower deck, there is a bar area and it is a good place to relax out of the sun.
When we have finished our search for Dolphins, we head back to the harbour.
Our Captain has over 20 years experience and knows the best spots to spot Dolphins. The success rate of spotting the Dolphins is over 90%. If you are unfortunate and the Dolphins are not spotted, you will be given another chance to return on the trip for free.
We recommend suncream for the trip, as the cool breeze can sometimes deter you from how strong the sun is and sun hats for children. Suitable clothing and footwear (no heels) should be worn and remember your camera.

Yes hotel pick up is included from the main tourist resorts in Gran Canaria except Puerto Rico as we sail from Puerto Rico. We provide return transport from Playa del ingles, Maspalomas, Amadores, San Agustin, Taurito, and Puerto Mogan. Pick up times are from 09:00 am – 09:45 am depending on where you are staying all this will be confirmed in your booking confirmation email as soon as you have booked.
IMPORTANT: Please note if you book after 20:00 the night before the excursion transport is not guaranteed.

We recommend that you book your Gran Canaria excursions as far in advance as possible, in order to guarantee your trip and day of your choice. It also depends on the time of year that you are travelling to Gran Canaria, as some months are much busier than others.

Yes, depending on group size, the excursion you wish to do and availability of the trip please email us the details of your group size, the excursion you want to do and your arrival and departure in Gran Canaria and we will give you the best deal!
As soon as you book you will shorty receive an email confirmation and Text/SMS, confirming your excursion date and time of your pick up and confirmation of the deposit received if you havn’t received your confirmation please firstly check your email spam folder, just in case. If you don’t receive it within 15 minutes, please contact us and we will send it manually to you.

For activities such as Quad biking and Buggy tours and self drive Jeep tours, proof of age is required, as is a full driving license (card, not paper license) so please bring both documents for these trips.
Deposit reservations are non-refundable. In the event of a trip or activity being cancelled, we will try to transfer you on to the next available trip. However, if for any reason this is not possible you will be issued a full refund.
