A little bit tricky putting together but goes very well. Just need to improve my sailing skills. Lots of fun.

Took a wee bit of time to put together but goes very well. Just need to refine my sailing skills and remember that left and right change when you turn around.

I did not want to build a boat from scratch so after searching around on the internet for quite some time I settled on this boat. Easy to set-up, some of the instructions need a read or two before you proceed, in a short period of time. The boat is sturdy and well made with quality sails and fittings. On the water it is fast and very reactive in expert mode (ash beginner, intermediate and expert). Needs a bit of tuning and best in breezes from 3 knots to about 12 knots, which is just a touch over what it can handle. Looks good on the water and at this size is quite spectacular as it sails along. Recommended by me.

Hello, Looking for opinions on Hurricane deck boats! I currently have the boat listed below on my signature line. I spent last winter revamping the entire boat, and I do love it. Being our first boat we didn't entirely realize what our needs, and wants were until after spending a lot of time on the water this summer. We quickly realized we needed more storage, a better seating layout for guests, and possibly a small head with porta potty. Things that I wanted were more speed, 3.0 is good but I would like to see 50 mph+. Another issue I have is the desire to get into shallow water while fishing. Many of the lake chains I fish, have stump fields and rocks close to the surface, and the I/O can't be trimmed up like an outboard so I was also thinking about my next boat with an outboard. The Hurricane 211 FDGS with OB only takes 14" of draft. So if any Hurricane owners out their would like to share their experience with me, I would greatly appreciate it! How do deck boats handle in chop or rough water? It looks like the hull is a modified V or almost a tri-hull configuration? This link is the boat I'm interested in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0381153052&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? great boat, 21 will be a little crowded, but he 4 stroke yammy is great, 17,000 is where i would go on a repo, and todays market. center console to me is a big plus.
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Cool Boat. Have a buddy with one and they love it. Great multipurpose boat. Repo would normally concern me but it looks like its in great condition. Don't see a lot of the Hurricane center consoles around. Good luck!
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? that is the 1st center console deck boat i have seen.

Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? When you said deck boats, i was thinking you meant a pontoon boat.. which i despise! This boat is fantastic.. get it surveyed and snap it up if it's in good shape!
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Yeah, This boat seriously rocks! It's like a pontoon boat on steroids! Do you think 6-8 on board would be tight for space? Anyone know how it handles in rough water? I hear tri-hull boats can be a tad bumpy in chop...
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Looks like it could handle 8 easy. That front lounge area is huge. It has a sharp V in the front which looks good for wave chopping however it still comes to a pretty shallow V in the back which would indicate a possible rough ride to me. However you wanted a shallow draft stump jumper!

Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? I own a Hurricane Sundeck 260 with twin Yamahas. I absolutely love it and can't think of owning anything else in the near future. The Hurricanes are really great all around boats. I constantly have guests with me and their layouts are very roomy. The important thing is that although you may feel squeezed if you take a lot of people out at least the boat is rated for a lot of passengers which leaves the decision making to you where as long as you have he PDF's and are within the rated capacity you are fine. As far as handling the chop I personally don't have any real issues, but I guess my boat being 26' and pretty heavy helps also but will agree with the poster above that being dry is not something you can count on. You will get sprayed often. The last thing I will say is that going 50MPH++ may be a little ambitious on your part, I thing mid 40's is more like it, but then again this is an area that where the size of my boat is a detriment. The poster with the Sundeck 230 above may be able to give you a better indication of that. All in all I thing you would be happy if you decided to go with a Hurricane. The model you have your eyes set on will allow you to do a little bit of everything, you will be very happy, I have even seen that model with a t-top and looks beautiful. Search enough and I'm sure you would find a pic. Good luck and let me know if there is anything else that you would like to know.
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? All, Thanks very much for your time and opinions on the Hurricane. I'll keep you posted with my search... I only said 50+ mph due to the test run on the e-bay link I posted. The dude that tested the 211 with a 225 hp Yammy said the boat topped out at 56 mph during the video. So I was just the relay bout that. But still 225 on a 21' deck boat seems like it would fly? Anyone have this set-up to verify, or the performance specs with less hp, say 150 or 200 outboard? Thanks again everyone!
Chief petty officer.
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? I have a smaller Hurricane (195) with a more traditional layout. I really like it, but I am a lake boater and gotta say, it'll knock your fillings out in any real chop. It has a fairly shallow deadrise and you pegged it right on the trihull bow. The good parts about the hull design, my boat is rated for 10 passengers and seats 8 very comfortably, mostly due to the big stable front. I also absolutely love the big swim-like platform on the bow with the boarding ladder. Lastly the fairly flat hull makes it perform pretty well without a lot of power. I get about 42 with a 140, I imagine mid 50's is quite doable with a 225 on the 211; but only on flat water. Anything over 1 foot chop and I'm pretty much at half speed. For the most part the boat is pretty well put together, I have no issues with the quality or workmanship. Its a 2006 and has never been in the shop except for PM. One thing about the one you are looking at - it looks like the skeg has been repaired and the prop looks new, might want to check out the lower unit for damage. Other than that it looks great and I like the center console. Good luck.
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Hello there, I just bought a 2001 Hurricane Sundeck 217 last week. So far, I've had it on the water twice, and I really love it! The boat has a very solid feel to it, though I haven't used it in rough waters yet. My configuration is with a Yamaha 150 outboard and it's plenty of power...gets about 40 to 45 mph and planes really easily around 20 mph. The thing I like most about it is the layout...lot of room for passengers, as well as ample storage room. For my needs, I didn't care about having a cabin. I noticed the boat you're looking at on eBay is a 2005 Fundeck gs211. In case you're not aware, Godfrey Marine is currently having a special on BRAND NEW Fundeck GS211 boats for just $19,999. At only a few thousand more than what is offered on eBay, I'd opt for that. Good luck and have fun. Deron
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Wow $20k for a new one? I've seen 2009 211 GS's starting at $42-50k with a 225 hp... I have a call in to the local dealer to confirm...
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane deck boats? Oops, sorry about the bad information. I thought it was on the 211, but it was the 201. But then again, for half the price, maybe I'd consider losing the additional foot of length. Anyway, good luck on your search...I think you'll be pleased with Hurricane boats. Regards, Deron
Re: Any opinions on Hurricane sun deck boats? Re: Any opinions on Hurricane sun deck boats? I'm thinking of buying a 2006 sundeck 217 used.I heard that the older models the hull design didn't handle too well in the water hard to turn rough ride when coppy on lake, also could this boat also be put on the bay area. The later models i heard were better design doe anyone know what year I should be looking at for when they changed there design or it's just all hype. This boat comes with a honda 150 4 stroke instead of the yamaha 150 any big difference between the 2 outboards. Would i be able to jet ski with kids or tubing with this outboard is it hard to plane.

Ernesto will transition into post-tropic storm late monday.
Hurricane Ernesto is cutting through the North Atlantic Ocean but a meteorologist says it won't come to Newfoundland's shores, though the southern part of the island will feel its impact.
Environment Canada has issued a tropical cyclone statement that covers the Avalon, Bonavista and Burin peninsulas, with rainfall warnings in effect for the southern Avalon and the St. John's area. Ernesto will transition into a post-tropical storm as it passes the south coast.
Meteorologist Dale Foote with the Gander weather office said all indicators show that Ernesto won't make landfall.
"We won't know how close till actually it passes by tonight, but all indications are that it should stay offshore," Foote told CBC News Monday morning.
Foote said the rainfall warnings are mostly for Monday night, although rain will start during the day.
Peak rainfall amounts are expected between 50 and 70 millimetres.
Foote said the winds should start off easterly and then shift to northwesterly, blowing between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour.
"For August, that's a lot of wind, but generally that's what we're used to with these storms going through," he said.
He said offshore there could be waves as 10 metres that will affect the southern Avalon and Placentia Bay later Monday night.
Foote said the main waves are expected to arrive at low tide, which is after midnight. He said peak winds will hit around Tuesday at 2 a.m. NT.
"So there are waves approaching and pounding waves, but we're lucky enough that it's not occurring at high tide. So we're not expecting widespread damage," said Foote.
Still, people should stay away from the southerly facing coasts, he said.
"Most people won't be won't be around the coastline at that time anyway. So we're really fortunate that way."
The department will issue another statement on Ernesto on Monday morning.
CBC meteorologist Ashley Brauweiler said Monday that waves could have a negative impact along the shoreline.
"This could bring some minor damage to areas that are cultural areas that are southwest facing," Brauweiler warned.
She said overnight offshore winds could be clocked at approximately 100 to 110 kilometres per hour.
"All indications have been showing this hurricane season being pretty active and we've already seen that," Brauweiler told CBC Radio's St. John's Morning Show .
She added the peak time for Atlantic hurricane season activity is September, when the water is warmer.
"We'll have to wait and see, but you know, all things are pointing to an active hurricane season," she said.

Cruise in comfort with the cushioned hurricane 24.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is a very cushioned running shoe that delivers a stable ride thanks to the wide base and mix of foams in the midsole. It’s one of the most comfortable running shoes available, and perfect for protecting the legs whether you’re a new or experienced runner, though it does lack versatility because of the heavy design.
Very comfortable cushioning
Stable design
Effective rocker
Quite a heavy shoe
Not ideal for faster runs
Why you can trust Tom's Guide Our writers and editors spend hours analyzing and reviewing products, services, and apps to help find what's best for you. Find out more about how we test, analyze, and rate.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is an exceptionally comfortable running shoe and a big update on its predecessor, boasting a higher-stack, a new rocker and improved midsole foams.
The stability and comfort it delivers make it one of the best running shoes available for easy and long runs, even if the Hurricane 24 is not as well-suited to fast runs as other shoes because of its weight.
My Tom’s Guide colleague Jessica Downey and I have both been racking up the miles for our Saucony Hurricane 24 review and we are both impressed by the upgrades Saucony has made to the shoe.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 launched in July 2024 and costs $160 in the US, and £165 in the UK. That’s the same price in the US as the Hurricane 23, which came out over three years ago, and in line with other premium cushioned stability shoes like the Asics Gel-Kayano 31 and the Saucony Triumph 22 , which is Saucony’s top cushioned shoe for neutral runners.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is a stability shoe designed to provide extra support for runners who overpronate in particular, but still comfortable for neutral runners as well. It is currently available in seven colors — I tested the Viziblue/Citron shoe, while Jess tested the White/Foam shoe.
It has a high stack height of 38mm at the heel and 32mm at the forefoot for a 6mm drop, and a very wide base to create stability. That height and width make it quite a heavy shoe — my US size 10 weighs 11.5oz, which makes it one of the heavier shoes I’ve tested this year.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 has a mesh upper with padding around the collar and on the tongue to give a plush feel to the shoe, and the step-in comfort is accentuated by internal fabric treatments that make the upper feel softer.
There is an internal heel counter to create some extra support at the back of the shoe, but the upper is still quite flexible around the heel. The heel tab rises quite high along the Achilles, which initially concerned me as some shoes irritate my Achilles tendon, but this issue did not arise with the Hurricane 24.
The Hurricane 24 has a dual-density midsole, with the bulk of it being made from Saucony’s bouncy Peba-based PWRRUN PB foam, along with a frame made from standard PWRRUN, which is a firmer material that is used to create stability.
Support and stability is also provided by the sidewalls of foam that cradle the foot on the run, and the broad base of the shoe. The Hurricane 24 also has a rocker that is designed to keep your foot in a neutral position as you transition from heel to toe, rather than rolling too far inwards.
There is a lot of exposed foam on the outsole of the Hurricane 24, but rubber does cover the key impact areas at the forefoot and heel. I’ve not seen any signs of wear and tear on the exposed foam so far and the shoe has gripped well for me on light trails as well as wet pavements.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is available in both regular and wide fits and the sizes available at 7-16 for men and 5-12 for women.
NHF: I had no problems with the fit in my normal running shoe size, with enough room in the toe box and a secure hold around the midfoot and at the heel. There is a lot of padding around the collar and tongue but this wasn’t oppressive on hot runs and didn’t rub for me.
JD: Initially, I noticed that the toe box felt slightly less roomy than what I'm used to wearing my usual size in Saucony running shoes . However, it wasn’t tight enough to cause discomfort during testing or to warrant shifting up a size.
If you have wider feet or are between shoe sizes and are considering this Saucony model, I’d recommend visiting a store to try on different sizes and both the regular and wide-fit options to find the best fit for you.
JD: I really enjoyed testing the Saucony Hurricane 24 and will continue to run in this shoe regularly. As soon as I had an initial test walk around my apartment in the shoe I could feel a glorious layer of cushioning underfoot and was eager to test out how this would perform on the roads.
My first run in the shoe was high tempo, which isn’t the type of run I’d say this shoe excels in as it is on the heavier side and my legs could certainly feel this as I tried to keep my pace nice and snappy.
Although I didn’t necessarily feel super speedy in the Hurricane 24, I did appreciate how stable I felt while running in the shoe. Thanks to the wide base, high sidewalls and the outer layer of PWRRUN foam in the midsole this shoe offers both structure and support.
Where this running shoe really excelled was during my easy and longer runs. I wore them during an eight-mile run with my run club which was done at a very light and fluffy conversational pace and from start to finish I felt extremely comfortable in the shoe.
The PWRRUN PB midsole layer of foam felt soft and bouncy from start to finish. I also liked the slight rocker within the shoe that made my transitions feel smoother as I got a good roll from heel to toe.
NHF: The Saucony Hurricane 24 is not the kind of running shoe I usually go for. I am a neutral runner and tend to prefer lighter shoes with less cushioning even for easy runs. However, I was won over by the Hurricane 24, because it is so comfortable, and the rocker delivers a very smooth and supportive ride for relaxed runs.
The PWRRUN PB in the midsole has a softer feel to me than the same foam when used in other shoes, like the Triumph 22, but still rebounds well so you’re not sinking too far into the foam with each stride.
The support from the PWRRUN frame and the wide base of the shoe means that the Hurricane 24 feels very stable despite the high stack, and I found it perfect for doing my Sunday long run on tired legs during higher mileage weeks.
I would only use the shoe for easy and long runs myself though, because it is a bit too big and heavy to feel well-suited when running at speed. I did do some faster running in the shoe, and it could serve well as an all-rounder for newer runners or those focused mainly on comfort over speed, but ideally I would pair it with a lighter, faster shoe for speedwork, like Saucony’s own Tempus.
While the Hurricane 24 is a stability shoe, it’s one that is certainly comfortable for neutral runners to use as well, and follows the trend of providing support through subtle features like a wide base and sidewalls of foam rather than traditional elements of stability shoes like medial posts.
JD: If you’re an overpronator or you just enjoy a more stable running shoe, then the Saucony Hurricane 24 is worth considering. This shoe provides extreme comfort and a good level of bounce all the while making sure you feel nice and stable as you run.
It is a big shoe and, as a result, it is on the heavier end, so while you won’t feel super fast wearing the Hurricane 24, they are a safe and fun option for any running outside of speed and tempo work.
It’s a great option for beginners looking for a cushioned daily trainer, or runners who are less focused on breaking personal records but want a reliable, durable shoe to keep them comfortable and safe on their slower-paced or bigger mileage runs.
For those seeking a lighter, more agile option for faster runs or speedwork, you should take a look at the Saucony Guide 17 . Or if you are looking for a neutral running shoe with a sprinkle of stability features like integrated sidewalls and a broad base, the On Cloudmonster may suit you better.
NHF: If you’re looking for a comfortable ride, the Saucony Hurricane 24 is a standout option regardless of whether you normally use a stability shoe or not. It’s the most comfortable shoe I’ve tested this year, and one I’ll keep around my own rotation to use for easy long runs in particular.
I found it a better shoe than the Saucony Triumph 22, which doesn’t feel as soft and smooth, and I also preferred it to the Asics Gel-Kayano 31, another cushioned stability shoe, because the rocker on the Hurricane 24 is more noticeable and enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a lighter and more versatile stability option then the Saucony Tempus also uses a dual-density midsole with a core of PWRRUN PB, and would fit the bill. Another good option is the Hoka Skyward X , which is a bit bouncier than the Hurricane 24 and has more versatility while still being pretty stable, though the Skyward X is considerably more expensive.

After striking Bermuda and losing strength, Ernesto became a hurricane again on Sunday. Dangerous surf was expected along the East Coast of the United States.

Judson Jones is a meteorologist and a reporter for The Times. Don Burgess reported from Hamilton, Bermuda.
Ernesto regained hurricane status on Sunday as it continued to move offshore along the East Coast, where there was a significant risk of dangerous conditions at beaches.
Life-threatening surf and rip currents are possible in the Bahamas, Bermuda and on the Atlantic’s western shores for the next few days, forecasters said .
The storm made landfall in Bermuda as a Category 1 hurricane around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to the U.S. National Weather Service. It weakened into a tropical storm as it moved away from Bermuda on Saturday night, after making landfall in the morning and bringing significant rain. No major damage was reported.
Ernesto was not expected to approach the mainland United States, but because of the risk it posed on the coast, several beaches were closed in New York City on Sunday. Two men drowned hours apart off the shore of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina on Friday, officials said.
President Biden approved an emergency declaration in Puerto Rico, where hundreds of thousands of customers served by the island’s utility were left without power when Ernesto moved through this week.
Bermuda began returning to normal on Sunday, a day after Hurricane Ernesto battered the island with fierce winds and heavy rain. The storm’s eye lingered directly over Bermuda for more than two hours, subjecting residents to an extended period of eerie calm followed by renewed turbulence.
In the aftermath of the storm, residents joined government workers in clearing trees and debris from roads.
The Causeway, the only road from the main island to the airport, reopened for traffic at 9 a.m. The L.F. Wade International Airport had also reopened after closing on Friday night, and most major thoroughfares were passable.
There were no reports of major damage or injuries as of Sunday afternoon, officials said, though many households found themselves in the dark.
BELCO , Bermuda’s sole electricity provider, said power failures affected more than 11,500 customers.
Bermuda is used to dealing with hurricane-force winds, which begin at 74 miles per hour.
The last storm to make landfall on Bermuda was Paulette on Sept. 14, 2020 , which caused minimal property damage.
The most memorable Bermuda hurricane of the 21st century didn’t make landfall.
Hurricane Fabian instead passed just to the west of the territory on Sept. 5, 2003, killing four sailors and forcing a quarter of Bermuda’s hotels and guesthouses to close for repairs.
Ernesto was not expected to approach the mainland United States, but forecasters warned that swells and rip currents were likely to affect the East Coast.
The New York City office of the Weather Service warned swimmers to stay out of the water. Beaches in Queens and Brooklyn were closed on Saturday and Sunday to swimming because of dangerous rip currents, the mayor’s office said.
On Friday, two men, ages 65 and 73, drowned hours apart off the shore of Hilton Head Island, S.C., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lifeguards recovered both men, who were believed to have been caught in riptides, though the authorities said they could not confirm whether the deaths were tied to Ernesto.
“We do have rip currents at different times throughout the year,” Master Sgt. Daniel Allen said in an email.
In North Carolina, crashing waves spawned by Ernesto contributed to the collapse of an unoccupied house into the ocean , officials said.
Earlier in the week, Ernesto brought up to 10 inches of rain to parts of Puerto Rico, the Weather Service said.
The storm knocked out power to more than 600,000 customers. Luma Energy, which distributes electricity in the territory, said on Sunday morning that more than 62,000 customers were still without power.
Forecasters have warned that the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season could be much more active than usual.
Earlier this month, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration continued its forecast of 17 to 24 named storms this year , an “above-normal” number and a prediction in line with more than a dozen forecasts earlier in the year from experts at universities, private companies and government agencies.
Hurricane seasons produce 14 named storms on average from June 1 through Nov. 30.
The seasonal hurricane outlooks were notably aggressive, because forecasters looking at the start of the season saw a combination of circumstances that didn’t exist in records dating back to the mid-1800s: record warm water temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean and the potential formation of the weather pattern known as La Niña.
La Niña occurs in the Pacific because of changing ocean temperatures, and it affects weather patterns globally.
When it is strong, it typically provides a calm environment in the Atlantic. This allows storms to develop more easily and to strengthen without interference from wind patterns that might otherwise keep them from organizing.

Boaters are nice people. Today with 4-5 Bft and some alterations to the set-up, the boatspeed was awsome, but getting the boat in irons (and sailing backwards) was still pretty frequent, the higher boat speed helped getting about, but as soon as the wind dropped close to the canal wall, the boat simply comes to a halt.
