A Summary of Motor Yacht PARIS I

The motor yacht PARIS I is a 56 m 184 (foot) sizeable steel vessel which was manufactured at Amels Yachts (Of The Damen Shipyard Group) and conceived from the design board of Jack Hargrave. Sleeping 18 guests and 15 qualified crew, motor yacht PARIS I was previously called Katamarino. The naval architecture office which delivered her design for the yacht is Jack Hargrave. Also, the interior design was created by Elie Gharzhouzi/Struik & Hamerslag.

M/Y PARIS I (ex Katamarino) was designed for worldwide cruising in style. She has a solid classic feel to her lines and form, and is clearly identified as the work of the late Jack Hargrave. Her unusual layout features the owner’s suite in the upper deck and there is an unusual VIP guest saloon at the forward end of the main deck. The yacht has an Arabic Origin and a Garzouzi interior. Her original owner was one time the principal agent for the owner of the Montkaj.

Build & Naval Architecture with respect to Luxury Yacht PARIS I

Jack Hargrave was the naval architecture company involved in the formal superyacht plans for PARIS I. Her interior design was realised by Elie Gharzhouzi/Struik & Hamerslag. Jack Hargrave is also associated with the yacht general design work for this boat. Created at Amels Yachts (Of The Damen Shipyard Group) the vessel was fabricated within the Netherlands. She was successfully launched in Makkum in 1991 before being transferred to the owner. The hull was constructed with steel. The motor yacht main superstructure is made extensively with aluminium. With a beam of 10.3 metres / 33.8 feet PARIS I has spacious size. She has a deep draught of 3.14m (10.3ft). She had refit maintenance and alteration work carried out in 1994.

The Performance - Engines On M/Y PARIS I:

Powered by twin CATERPILLAR diesel engines, PARIS I is able to attain a high speed of 16 knots. Coupled to the PARIS I engines are twin screw propellers. She also has an economical range of 13500 miles when motoring at her cruising speed of 14 knots. Her total HP is 3040 HP and her total Kilowatts are 2237. Concerning thrusters she was fitted with Holland Roer. For stabalisers she was built with Naiad.

Accommodation: Mega charter yacht PARIS A , a Maiora 35m/115’, which usually offers luxury crewed yacht charters in the Eastern Mediterranean including Greek Islands and Turkey’s Lycian and Antalya coast, offers accommodation for up to twelve guests in five luxurious staterooms.    Master Cabin: The full beam master suite is on the main deck and includes sofa, desk area and en-suite bathroom.  Lower deck: On the lower deck there are two VIP suites, both of which also offer a sofa, desk area, wardrobe and his/ hers facilities (1 bath/ 1 shower). Additional two twin cabins with obligatory en-suite facilities also have a Pullman.

Deck: PARIS A has great outdoor areas to enjoy and these are the most popular amongst all charter clients. The main deck aft is usually used for alfresco dining. The flybridge offers a bar and a BBQ. Aft there is a swim platform complete with water toys to enjoy at anchor.

Paris A excellent super yacht crew of 6 are always on hand to provide the ultimate luxury crewed charter experience within the East Mediterranean cruising grounds, including islands of Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Paros, Corfu, Lefkas and Mykonos. The cabins are all with en-suite facilities and individual air con set up. PARIS A’s super yacht crew of up to 6 including captain have a separate heads and shower. Mega charter yacht PARIS A (35m / 115’), is a Maiora built charter boat accommodating up to 10+2 guests in 5 cabins. She is ideal yacht for mega yacht charters and luxury holidays around the East Mediterranean cruising grounds, amongst many of the Greek Islands and Turkey’s Aegean coast. She is a very stunning looking boat and has a good cruising speed of 22kn. Thanks to her twin MTU V12 super yacht engines providing 2736hp each, she can reach maximum speed of up to 27kn. Her best features are absolute stunning looks, a third 2.2m glass bottomed dinghy, off – season reduced charter rates and exceptional crew of six including the captain.

Building Bigger: Q&A With Golden Yachts' Cpt. Paris Dragnis

Greek superyacht builder Golden Yachts was thrown into the spotlight earlier this year as it delivered the magnificent 95m vessel O’Pari . Creeping up the ranks of bigger build with 71.8m O’Pari 3 in 2015 and 85m O’Ptasia in 2018, the launch of O’Pari propelled Golden Yachts firmly into the Top 100 largest superyacht builders in the world. Superyachts.com spoke exclusively with Golden Yachts’ Founder Captain Paris Dragnis to learn more about the up-and-coming yard.

After some decades at the helm of Goldenport Holdings, Captain Paris Dragnis announced his retirement as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2015 to dedicate his efforts entirely to Golden Yachts, the luxury yacht builder he had founded eight years earlier. 

The superyacht tycoon, whose unique business model is to build superyachts wholly for the purpose of charter, drew industry commendation as Golden Yachts launched its largest charter yacht to date earlier this year - despite the onset of global lockdown measures.  

Q. How was the launch ceremony affected by the Coronavirus? 

A. The launch of the yacht was always scheduled to be done by the end of February 2020, which was a success. 

Since in Europe at that time, it was the beginning of the coronavirus spread, we avoided any open public ceremony that could put our visitors in danger. We reserve our celebrations, until our foreign guests will be able to join us.   

Q. How long did the project take from inception to completion? 

A. Once the design concept had been finalised with Studio Vafiadis, a total period of 24 months were needed for the project’s completion. 

The whole venture became reality with Golden Yachts’ hard working team from various fields of expertise. Our professionals joined forces so as to complete the full engineering at an early stage, while steel and aluminum works had already started. Long time experience and years of collaboration throughout all production phases have facilitated and reassured the smooth progress and completion of a quality project on time. 

  Q. Can you tell us a little about the project inception and what were your requirements as the Owner?

A. Everything starts from the challenging ambition of the Dragnis family to launch in the market a new build yacht upgraded in all aspects and size, every two and a half years. Our experience so far, both in building and chartering, were the motives that let us overcome difficulties. 

The specification and design process of M/Y O’Pari had already been established before the completion of our 85 m M/Y O’ptasia. 

Rigorous and thorough research has been -and is still ongoing- by the Golden Yachts’ team, in order to keep up with the ever changing Yacht’s market demands in terms of creativity, competition and pioneering in engineering and design. 

The yacht is being conceived by the Owners but is destined for the Guests onboard. 

M/Y O’Pari is equipped with resort-style onboard amenities and technical innovation, which are geared towards providing her guests/Owners with an exclusive experience. 

Q. WIll O’Pari be available for charter?

Yes, O’Pari is available for charter. As soon as the lockdown measurements are being diminished, professional photographers will be able to come onboard and reveal more information and photos of the yacht to the market and press. 

Q.  This is the largest yacht you have ever built and a firm entry into the world’s Top 100  largest yachts. Do you have plans to build bigger? 

A.  Yes, we surely do! We are still “young” and hoping to continue a rising and successful road amongst the Mega yachts ranks. 

Golden Yachts Ltd may be younger than other well-known shipyards established in the market for more than five decades, but it has proven to be evolving continuously, creating expectations for the future. 

Every project completed, opens a new door to the next challenge and together with our fleet, we grow in experience and know-how, in terms of engineering, quality and functionality of both interior and exterior spaces.
