The waterfront has many multicuisine restaurants, spas, boutiques and the Naval Heritage Museum and Lido Mar- a big pool and bar constructed in the Venetian architectural style. Many exciting sailing regattas are also organised at the marina annually.

2. Dubai Harbour, UAE

Situated at the confluence of the grand Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters, Dubai Harbour is a top-class marina in the UAE. It boasts a modern yet elegant cruise terminal that syncs with the gulf’s longstanding seafaring traditions.

The marinas of the Dubai Harbour cement the city’s position as a prominent maritime hub. It has 1100 berthing facilities and 3 bays that accommodate yachts measuring 160 metres or less.

It has an expansive shopping complex, a yacht club and also helipads. It is the perfect stopover point for luxury yachts and superyachts.

It is close to the international airport and has picturesque waterfront residences. The harbour is easily accessible from attractions like the Burj-al-Arab. The authorities offer VIP facilities to guests and ensure people can explore Dubai in a unique manner in its waters.

The cruise terminal covers 120,000 m2 and is an iconic entry point to Dubai. The two terminals can welcome the biggest cruise ships and are endowed with many entertainment facilities, leisure activities and retail offers.

3. Marina Grande, Capri

Securing a berth is not easy, and one has to book several months in advance to visit this exotic marina with colourful houses, beautiful cliffs and lush hills. It is located below the main town and is enclosed by world-class restaurants and 5-star hotels offering breathtaking views.

The marina has more than 300 berths that welcome superyachts measuring up to 60 m or 197 feet. It is also the departure point for boats going to Blue Grotto.

While cruising in the adjacent waters, one can expect to see medieval villages, bungalows on rocky ridges, white sandy and pebbled beaches of Capri and the beautiful scenery as if it were a painting. Capri also has many nightclubs where people can party their hearts out.

It is the only port on the island and a busy one too. It handles yachts along with ferries. The harbour is well-linked to famous tourist spots such as the Piazetta. A bus stop is close to the port, and one can also take the traditional open-air taxis.

4. Port of Hercule, Monaco

Monaco is a luxury tourist destination, and the Hercule port is an extension of its affluent image. Lying in a natural bay at the end of an ancestral rock, Hercule is a deepwater harbour. It is enclosed by five-star hotels, resorts, casinos, pubs and clubs.

The yacht marina has 700 berths, including 30 visitor berths capable of accommodating yachts measuring 120 m and more. All are endowed with fresh water and electricity supply, public telephones, a self-service laundrette, and a garbage collection unit. There is wifi, a television and fuel service too.

The port was once used for trade by the Greeks and Romans; however, it was not well-sheltered from easterly winds. Hence, two piers were erected in the 20th century to solve this issue.

Port Hercule is filled with yachts when the Monaco Grand Prix is organised in May. Guests can enjoy the show from their yachts. Many yacht owners also participate in the grand Monaco Yacht Show held in September.

5. Limassol Marina, Cyprus

Vilamoura is the biggest marina in Portugal and has been voted the best year after year. It has 1300 berths and offers an array of services to its clients. The marina has grown steadily and is endowed with the latest technology to provide a seamless experience.

It is the key attraction of Vilamoura and has emerged as a true marine destination providing mooring to day cruisers and luxurious superyachts. It is a popular shopping hub featuring local craft shops to big brand stores. It is close to an environmental park, golden sand beaches, clubs and casinos.

It also has a boatyard with a slipway, a 60-tonne capacity crane, two lifts, forklifts, and stacks. Services like repair and maintenance, hull cleaning and towing are offered.

About 200 boats can be kept in its land storage area. Chandlers can be found in the reception areas and also several quays.

Guests can enjoy water sports like parasailing and jet skiing or charter a boat. There are golf courses, tennis courts and an equestrian centre too.

7. Port de Gustavia, Saint Barts

Saint-Barthelemy island is an exotic location in the Carribean Sea. The island’s famous port of Gustavia is one of the world’s most scenic and iconic natural harbours. It comprises two facilities: a marina for boats and yachts and a commercial trading port.

Its marina can accommodate 152 boats and superyachts measuring 152 m or less. It is easily accessible and close to the island’s airport. Customers can avail of many services, such as fuel supply, fresh water and electricity, free wifi etc. Fuel is available for small yachts and tenders at the commercial pier.

Yalikavak marina has 620 berthing facilities and offers excellent services through its well-trained and professional staff. Yachts having a maximum LOA of 140 metres are welcome here. Over a hundred superyachts visit the marina annually, including the iconic Eclipse, Saluzi, Heritage and many others.

The shopping alley is lined with numerous brand stores and boutiques. There is also a beach hotel and a fitness centre.

The marina is a part of the UNICEF platinum wings initiative, which helps disadvantaged children get their basic human rights.

About 1000 professionals are employed at the marina, which receives over 2 million guests from 120 nations. It promotes the image of Turkey as a prominent maritime tourism destination.

9. Marina Flisvos, Greece

Flisvos Marina lies in Paleo Faliro, just six km from Athens. It is the premier Greek Marina that offers mooring and other facilities for mega yachts. It has 303 berths, of which 50% are reserved for luxury yachts measuring more than 35 m.

It is the perfect leisure spot on the Athenian Riviera and covers over 6000 m2. The promenade is lined with trees, coffee shops, bakeries and dining spaces. Special events are also organised in the commercial complex every year and can be enjoyed by guests and visitors.

Other infrastructure includes a control tower for ensuring the safe movement of yachts, a helicopter landing area and two parking lots to accommodate 310 vehicles. One can go shopping and leave their children engaged at the famous children’s playland.

10. OneOcean Port Vell, Barcelona, Spain

The OneOcean Port Vell is a luxurious marina to accommodate huge yachts. It is ideally located at the heart of the city centre, close to the neighbourhood of Barceloneta and other attractive destinations such as the Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter and Camp Nou.

It was initially constructed for the 1992 Olympic games and has been upgraded since then. It has 148 mooring facilities or berths with a 9 to 14 m depth to welcome 190 m long superyachts. Work is underway to construct eight additional berths to welcome yachts between 30 to 8 metres.

The marina has a gymnasium, a cocktail bar and a famous restaurant with live music. The renowned club lies amidst Espanya and Barceloneta quay and can be entered from the Maremagnum recreation complex. There are also several shops to rent water sports equipment.

The on-site facilities are exclusively tailored to the needs of luxury yacht owners, charter guests, and crew stationed in this port.

Besides the usual amenities like repairs and provisioning, there is also a sizable shopping mall just a few steps away from Yacht Haven Grande called “The Shops,” which is perfect for stocking up during layovers.

3. Marina Port Vell

Located in Barcelona, Spain, the Marina Port Vell offers 151 berths for yachts up to 190 meters.

Its excellent location close to the city center and many of Barcelona’s main attractions makes this marina very popular among yacht enthusiasts.

Marina Port Vell is also a highly secure port with sophisticated CCTV and professional security guards stationed in the area 24/7. The on-site facilities include a gym, a business hub, and exclusive restaurants. 

There is also a dedicated crew lounge within the marina where the captain and crew can spend their time ashore.

Marina Port Vell stands out due to its convenient location, although this berth tends to fill up quickly during the summer months and can become extremely crowded due to its popularity.

4. Port Vauban

Port Vauban is the leading marina in the Mediterranean, with 1,500 berths available for yachts with a length of up to 160 meters.

Located in Antibes, France, between Cannes and Nice, Port Vauban is one of the most popular locations for yachting and also one of the largest yacht berths in the world. The marina is also well known for its exclusive yearly events and parties. 

Any standard, as well as unusual services and requests, are fulfilled by the berth’s own agents, who are on call 24/7.

Among other high-profile guests, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and his 126-meter yacht OCTOPUS are regular guests at Port Vauban.

5. Port Tarraco

The 5th largest yacht berth on this list is located in Tarragona, Spain, just 100 km southwest of Barcelona.

Port Tarraco is a smaller and highly exclusive marina with just 33 berths in total, and it can accommodate boats from 45 meters up to a length of 160 meters.

The business pier next to the marina offers a broad selection of excellent restaurants, bars, and shopping opportunities. 

Furthermore, there are several yachting stores in the area surrounding Port Tarraco where you can purchase all important spare parts and supplies that might be needed.

Tarragona itself was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 and has lots to do and see, including famous landmarks and historic ruins.

6. Port Hercules

Port Hercules is located in Monaco, on the French Riviera, and has not only one of the largest yacht berths in the world but also represents one of the most popular locations for yachting in general.

The marina has 700 berths for yachts with a length of 135 meters and a maximum draught of 30 meters. 

Monaco attracts millions of tourists every year with its many sights and upscale restaurants. The Monaco Yacht Show is held in Port Hercules every year, attracting thousands of visitors from all around the world.

7. Porto Mirabello

Porto Mirabello is a unique port located in the harbor town of La Spezia in northern Italy. Since the bay is relatively small, the berths had to be constructed without obstructing the beachfront, which proved to be a challenge.

Porto Mirabello was therefore partly constructed on an artificial island which makes this port a unique and unusual project. 

Vessels between 12 and 130 meters in length can anchor at La Spezia’s berths, making it one of the largest in the world.

La Spezia is a charming former fishing village that has become a popular starting point for exploring Italy in the yachting community.

8. Vilanova Grand Marina

Vilanova Grand Marina is a modern and well-equipped port with some of the largest yacht berths in the world.

After its opening in 2009, the port quickly gained recognition and earned a place among the most well-frequented harbors in Europe.

Vilanova can welcome vessels up to 120 meters in length, although the berths are extremely popular, with only a limited number available for sale or rent. 

This port specifically specializes in superyachts and was constructed with the proximity to Barcelona’s International Airport in mind allowing owners to arrive conveniently in their private jets.

9. Limassol Marina

As the only superyacht port in Cyprus, Limassol Marina combines luxury hotels with sought-after restaurants and, of course, plenty of high-end shopping opportunities.

Its berths can accommodate yachts of up to 110 meters, excluding some of the world’s largest vessels but still allow it to rank alongside high-profile marinas around the Mediterranean. 

Yachts like A or MADAME GU frequent the port and attract curious onlookers. Limassol has space for up to 650 yachts which give an idea of its size.

However, there is far more to the port than just berths. With elaborate real estate projects on the property, there are plenty of investment or luxury housing opportunities to explore.

10. Club Nautico Marina, Cartagena, Colombia

Club Nautico Marina is situated in the historic city of Cartagena, Colombia, and is dedicated to both the sailing and powerboat community worldwide. It is conveniently located a short walk from the historic center, with a supermarket just 2 minutes away.

The marina emphasizes the security of vessels and crew, with a family touch reflecting the history and development of the marina. Originally a haven for international sailors, it now caters to both recreational vessels and those dedicated to tourism activities.

11. Yalıkavak Marina

Yalıkavak Marina or sometimes called Port Palmarina is situated close to Bodrum in Turkey. The marina only opened in 2012 with a grand party including a long list of high-profile guests.

The port is owned by the Azerbaijani businessman Mubariz Masimov who supported this one-of-a-kind project and gathered over $45 million in investments. 

In addition to housing yachts, Port Palmarina is a hub for entertainment, shopping, and fine dining, attracting international tourists.

12. Marina di Stabia

Just a short ride from Naples in Italy lies the Marina di Stabia which can host superyachts of up to 100 meters.

The port has a strategic position that allows visitors to reach places of interest such as the Amalfi Coast, Capri, or Naples easily and comfortably. 

With up to 900 berths available for purchase or rent, the Marina di Stabia is not only one of the largest but also the most modern ports in the area, with the volcano Mount Vesuvius providing a beautiful backdrop.

10 new superyacht marinas to discover around the world

Portonovi, montenegro.

Nestled in the fjord-like Boka Bay a new superyacht marina, which is at the heart of the €650 million luxury development, is set to welcome superyachts next summer. Offering 238 berths, Portonovi marina will be able to accommodate yachts up to 70 metres year-round while yachts up to 120 metres can make use of its seasonal berths.

An ideal starting or end point for exploring Montenegro and Croatia the marina will have a helipad and be an international port of entry. A member’s only yacht club, created by Winch Design, will be a focal point for visitors and there will also be a selection of high end shops and multiple restaurants in the marina village.

Once completed Portonovi will also house 275 properties, including penthouse apartments and sky villas with infinity pools overlooking the marina. The first phase of properties will be ready for occupation by summer 2018.

The complex will also be home to the first One&Only in Europe. The luxury hotel brand, that already has stunning offerings in other yachting hotspots including the Bahamas and the Maldives, will offer 140 rooms, villas, and residences and will be complemented by a vast Espace Chenot Health and Wellness Spa.

Caroline Bay

Perfect for anyone heading to the America's Cup Superyacht Regatta  this June, the brand new Caroline Bay Marina sits in the Little Sound, Bermuda.

The marina will be able to host yachts up to 90 metres and will have 30 berths for superyachts over 30 metres, as well as 80 berths for smaller vessels from six to 24.3 metres. Additionally, the marina will be hosting a variety of events throughout the 35th America's Cup in May and June on 47.7 metre charter yacht  Arabella , including sunset cruises, rum tastings, day tours and themed suppers. . She will be situated on the America's Cup racecourse and available to marina guests who want to experience the race first hand.

Once completed The Caroline Bay development, will feature a  luxury Ritz-Carlton Reserve boutique hotel with, spa, restaurants and ultra high-end branded residences, which are due for completion by April 2018. The new complex offer a range of activities including watersports, hiking and cycling trails, access to golf across the street and a Ritz-Carlton kids' club.

Golfito Marina Village

Golfito Marina Village and Resort, Costa Rica, was officially opened on March 1 after five years of development and can accommodate yachts up to 121 metres. Its first superyacht visitor was the 57 metre  Halo .

The marina is located within the gulf of Golfo Duce, making the marina immune from the swells of the Pacific Ocean. With a six-inch tidal range, a current that rarely exceeds 1.5 knots and winds that average five to seven knots, the marina offers a safe environment at all times.

Though parts of the resort are still under construction, visitors to the marina will enjoy the benefits of a fully-equipped yard, 24/7 security and a huge range of yacht services. The hotly anticipated on-site yacht club is a members-only luxury, with restaurants, a cigar lounge, private concierge, fully-stocked bar and a spacious patio for evening drinks.

The marina will also be offering a range of activities, from horse riding on the beach and canopy tours through the jungle to a range of watersports and yoga classes. Golfito Marina Village & Resort is also home to a luxury spa and swimming pool and is also close to luxury boutiques and fine dining restaurants. Additionally, a variety of luxury residences will be available, ranging from beachfront villas to a private island option.

Cala del Forte

A marina in Ventimiglia, Italy, which is approximately 14.6 kilometres away from the Principality of Monaco by boat, is set to offer luxury yacht owners the opportunity to rent one of the planned 171 berths on a 40-year basis.

The Cala del Forte will accommodate yachts ranging from 6.5 to 60 metres and the marina should be fully operational by summer 2018. By 2019, the marina will have a variety of shops, cafés, parking, shipyard, promenade and gardens and either an elevator or funicular to take visitors to the historical Ventimiglia Old Town.

The marina has been bought by the SMIP (Société Monégasque Internationale Portuaire), an organisation owned by the Monaco Government, and will be fully integrated into the management of the Port of Monaco, which also operates Port Hercule and the Port of Fontvieille.

"The purchase of Cala del Forte was a unique opportunity to build a brand-new marina in the immediate surroundings of the Principality," Gianbattista Borea d'Olmo, director of Monaco Ports and Cala del Forte, told Boat International.  "The benefits of this investment will include the development of a cross-border collaboration, the creation of new jobs, the demonstration of a new type of eco-responsible and ethical marina management as well as the expansion to the East of traditional yacht cruising grounds."

The current waiting list for berths in Monaco goes into the hundreds and during summer months, more than 50 applications for berths are rejected per day.

"The new development will strengthen the deep historical and cultural links between our communities by enriching the personal and economic relationships that Ventimiglia has with the Principality," Borea d'Olmo added.

Aside from being a stone's throw away from the Principality, the port is within walking distance of one of the most famous food markets on the Italian coastline and provides one of the most sheltered harbours. The picturesque Old Town of Ventimiglia is also the perfect alternative for a day trip away from the hustle and bustle of Monaco.

Ibiza Old Town

A new superyacht marina is being developed in the Port of Ibiza Town after the Ports of Balearics APB granted a concession to YSM, the specialist marina division of Sovren House Group. The area covered includes the former Port Ibiza Town marina and Duques de Alba, as well as a new showcase facility called Es Martell on the dock at Darsena del Levante.

This area previously had a maximum length of 40 metres but the new development will be able to cater for yachts measuring up to 185 metres. As a result, it is expected to attract an influx of ultra-high net worth individuals and provide a boost to the local economy. The new marina is due to launch in time for the 2017 Mediterranean season.

Stephen White, founder and CEO of Sovren House Group, said: "We will be ground-breaking both in Ibiza and across the Balearics in providing the kind of marina that is worthy of the expanding fleet of superyachts." He added the Sovren House Group has already begun working with local authorities to ensure that the new marina brings positive benefits to the community.

Often referred to as the jewel in the crown of the West Mediterranean, Ibiza Old Town is a popular destination for high profile visitors, from Hollywood stars to European royalty.

Marina d'Arechi

The finishing touches have been added to the new Marina d’Arechi in Salerno, Italy and the development is now open, with 1,000 berths including 80 specifically for superyachts up to 100 metres.

Located at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site , the marina boasts 340,000 square metres of water basin dedicated to yachts with a scenic backdrop and an eco-friendly design.

Marina d’Arechi is the creation of Agostino Gallozzi, chairman of Gallozzi Group, which has invested €120 million in the project — €80 million of which was concentrated on the marina infrastructure.

“For anyone living in Salerno, sailing and yachting on the Amalfi Coast is the ideal way of enjoying weekends and holidays with friends and family throughout the year. From the age of 15 sailing the Mediterranean waters I visited so many marinas, none of which really satisfied me 100%," Agostino Gallozzi said.

"It had to be an amazing marina, beautiful and perfect, safe, comfortable, friendly and enjoyable every day of the year, state of the art in technology, the place where you want to be all the time. Now I’m proud to say after years of planning: Marina d’Arechi is born.”

The new marina is now part of the Camper & Nicholsons Marinas' network.

Dubai Harbour

Dubai is hoping to become one of the world's leading superyacht hubs thanks to plans for a new marina, which will be the largest in the Middle East and North Africa. Plans were made public on January 2 for Dubai Harbour, which will feature 1,400 berths for vessels up to 85 metres.

Located alongside world-renowned Palm Island, a 135 metre lighthouse will sit at the ocean end of Dubai Harbour and will offer 360 degree views from the observation deck as well as a luxury hotel.

The 1,858,060 square metre development will also offer a cruise ship terminal, retail space, events arena, shopping mall, yacht club and a number of residences.

The announcement was made by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said: “We are happy that this new project, which represents a unique and innovative new addition to the region’s tourism landscape, opens up a range of new opportunities to investors. Dubai Harbour creates a venue for new investments that support our vision for this important sector and promises to further accelerate the expansion of the tourism industry in the UAE, which is already growing rapidly.”

The project looks to encourage tourism in the area and is inspired by the Gulf’s historical maritime links. In addition to the water stations, the marina will have two helipads so guests can visit by land, sea or air.

“Our region has had a long and historic relationship with the sea, and today we are seeing another initiative inspired by this age-old tradition that opens up new horizons for development. We have great aspirations for the tourism sector, which is one of the main pillars of our economic development and an important source of national income,” he added.

The development, which follows the ongoing construction of a new marina being built alongside the world's longest indoor ski slope in Dubai , is expected to take four years to finish once work starts and will expand Dubai’s yacht capacity by 50% on completion.

Ayia Napa Marina

Work is underway on a new £190 million superyacht marina complex in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. The new 600 berth marina will be able to accommodate yachts up to 80 metres and is scheduled for completion in 2021. The development, which will also include 190 apartments and a series of villas, is the brainchild of Cypriot entrepreneur Gerasimos Caramondanis and Egyptian investor Naguib Sawiris.

The marina has been specially designed to minimise breakwater to ensure a comfortable stay and will offer a wide range of marine services. The marina will be home to a brand new yacht club and beach club as well as a dedicated crew lounge. The neighbouring Pyare Village will act as the commercial hub of the marina, offering shops, cafés, restaurants and  on-shore activities  along a waterfront pedestrian promenade.

“Cyprus is a safe haven blessed by beautiful nature, year-round sunshine, modern infrastructure, a high standard of living and a genuine culture of warmth and hospitality, strategically located in the eastern Mediterranean at the crossroads of three continents – Europe, Asia and Africa,” said Ayia Napa Marina CEO, Stavros Caramondanis. “The modern, competitive and simple business environment coupled with a high quality of life make Cyprus an ideal place for both visitors and investors.”

The main feature of the development is two towers measuring more than 100 metres in height, which will both offer panoramic views. A mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments will be available, as well as two full-floor penthouse residences.

“We’re not just building a place to live – we’re launching a new era in modern beachfront living,” said Project Partner Naguib Sawiris. “We will exceed the expectations of our residents and our guests and not only transform the Cyprus skyline, but change the way you think about Cyprus.”

With completion expected within the next five years the development is expected to revolutionise  the Cyprus superyacht stay .

Port Takola Yacht Marina

Port Takola Yacht Marina and Boatyard in Krabi, Thailand was unveiled last May — The ambitious plan transformed the 110-acre site and saw the creation of 48 berths that can accommodate yachts up to 40 metres.

The site has been developed by retired Surgeon Admiral of the Royal Thai Navy Dr Suriya na Nagara and Matthew na Nagara and it offers residences, a resort hotel, nature trails, and a museum.

The marina is a 40-minute drive from Krabi International Airport and close to  one of the best James Bond locations to visit on a superyacht  Phang Nga Bay.

“After careful study, we decided to develop a marina to take advantage of the many positive factors of the site, including its perfect shelter and excellent geographical location,” said Admiral Suriya.

Matthew na Nagara added that the plan was to create to a “boutique marina that sits comfortably with the surrounding landscape”.

“We want to combine the legendary Thai hospitality with the management standards expected by sophisticated international yachtsmen,” he said.

The development came at a period when  Thailand’s prime minister announced that he wanted to make the country a superyacht hub . Early last year, Thailand  granted its first foreign-flagged superyacht charter license  which should encourage more yachts to visit the region in the future.

Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort

A new marina opened alongside a  luxury five-star hotel  in Greece last May. The new marina at Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort, located on the east coast of Kassandra, Halkidiki, can accommodate superyachts up to 40 metres.

When developing the marina the main consideration behind construction was reducing environmental impact. Designers also focused on boosting water circulation to minimise bacteria development to help prevent damage to yachts’ hulls.

Academics from Aristotle University conducted a study on wind and currents in the area which shaped the design. The marina has two “bridge type” jetties which are self circulating and self cleaning. They also help to minimise the swell and swing of yachts berthed in the marina.

“Marina Miraggio is one of the best technologically advanced sea developments in Greece because of its overall architecture, positioning and modern engineering methods used for the design and construction of it, even at the primary stages of the design,” said a spokesman for the marina.

As well as its clever design the marina also offers 24-hour security, state-of-the-art electricity and water service pedestals, a pump out station, Wi-Fi and a petrol and diesel gas station. There is also a new restaurant and café on site.

The marina is located at the heart of the Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort, which stretches over more than 330 acres. The hotel's thermal spa is set to become one of the  best luxury spas in the Mediterranean , while its helipad will make it an easy stop off for superyacht owners.

1. marina grande, capri.

We start with Marina Grande on the island of Capri, which is reportedly the most expensive marina in the world. With a real feel of exclusivity, berthing will need to be arranged many months in advance, especially during peak season. There are over 300 berths in total and the facility can accommodate superyachts of up to 60 metres or 197 foot.

The marina is nestled among striking cliffs and colourful, quaint buildings, offering a truly unforgettable experience. Sitting below the town, the marina is surrounded by a selection of luxury hotels and restaurants that offer some of the most spectacular views in the world, and numerous medieval villages.

Unsurprisingly, the island has a special allure for the rich and famous, with some of the world’s most extravagant yachts often found congregated here.

2. Marina di Porto Cervo, Sardinia

Listed as the world’s second-most expensive marina, Marina di Porto Cervo is located on the northern tip of Sardinia on the famous Costa Smerelda. Here daily berthing fees can exceed 2,500 euros during the high season, which gives an insight into just how desirable the marina is. Among the most expensive periods for berthing are the Deluxe Fair in June and the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup Regatta in September.

The facility has up to 60 superyacht berths for yachts up to 100-metres (328-feet) long, During the summer, this is where the Italian jet-set takes their holidays, sailing and enjoying the beautiful landscape and coves. The list of celebrities spotted in Porto Cervo is endless, with model Kate Moss and pop superstar Rihanna known to have visited in the past. Famous for its lavish parties and nightlife, there’s even a “Billionaire Nightclub” for the select few that can afford it.

The surrounding area features a mix of unspoiled natural beauty and modern luxurious facilities, such as high-end boutiques and clubs.

3. Marina di Portofino, Genova

With only 14 berths for superyachts, and an average daily berthing price of well over 2,000 euros, Marina di Portofino is one of the most exclusive ports in the world. Again, due to a lack of berths, reservations will need to be made many months in advance, especially during peak season.

Originally a small fishing village set in a protected bay of green waters, Portofino has become an ultimate playground for the super-rich and famous, including the likes of Steven Spielberg, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and Rihanna (who must be working through our list).

Accessible by a single road—which is usually kept closed to keep the area secluded—the preferred mode of transport to Portofino tends to be boat giving Marina di Portofino a quiet and private feel.

Spanish style and Catalonian chic

4. ibiza magna, ibiza.

With a limited amount of superyacht berths, Ibiza Magna in the Balearic Islands has a certain feeling of both luxury and exclusivity. While certain marinas’ main allure may be their scenery, surroundings and views, there’s no doubt that the main draw to Ibiza Magna is the electric atmosphere.

Renowned for being a magnet for the young, rich and glamorous, some of the most famous faces in the world are frequently spotted on the ‘White Isle’. The marina itself fits perfectly with the itineraries of this crowd, as it’s located just minutes away from iconic nightclub, Pacha.

Ibiza Magna offers berths for yachts up to 60m (197ft), while larger vessels can drop anchor outside of the main harbour. The most popular (and expensive) time to visit is in September, when Ibiza plays host to the revered dance parties that bring the summer season to a close.

5. Puerto Banús, Marbella

Having firmly established itself as a hallmark location for luxury yachts, Puerto Banús in Marbella is another must-visit location for owners, guests and crew alike. Designed and built by property developer Jose Banús in 1970, it’s since become a popular stomping ground for the wealthy.

There’re over 900 berths in total across an area of 150,000 square metres, and while that’s plentiful in comparison to the others already listed, it may well cost over 2,400 euros per day to berth here. Its clientele includes some of the richest and most powerful people in the world, with reports suggesting the King of Saudi Arabia visits regularly.

The marina is protected by the Sierra de Marbella mountain range, and is surrounded by numerous designer shops, bars, restaurants and luxury homes. If that wasn’t enough, the marina is flanked on both sides by lovely beaches that regularly attract famous faces.

6. Port Vell, Barcelona

Originally built for the 1992 Olympic games, the marina has since been transformed, recently upgrading to become a five-star, 148-berth facility for superyachts up to 190m (623ft).

Situated in the heart of Barcelona, with idyllic views of the city and out across the sea, Port Vell has become a hugely popular destination with the world’s trendsetters. Yachts can berth a stone’s throw away from the city’s beautiful beaches and world-famous attractions, including the iconic Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, Passeig de Gràcia and Camp Nou – the home of FC Barcelona.

As day turns into night the city’s thrilling nightlife comes to the fore. Fine-dining establishments showcase local gastronomic delights and modern fusions from renowned chefs, and the numerous bars and clubs offer up the perfect place to soak up Barcelona’s inimitable atmosphere; the perfect place to let your hair down.

Where Ibiza Magna is a growing magnet for young and rich, Port Tarraco attracts those wishing for a little more serenity – those who want to absorb local culture at their own pace. It isn’t a celebrity hotspot, so it retains a sense of calm that other marinas have lost as a result of their showbiz allure.

Beyond Tarragona, Port Tarraco has the added bonus of sitting just below Barcelona, and being within easy reach of both Madrid and Valencia. It means there are a number of places to explore within a commutable distance of the marina, so plenty of different interests and personalities can be catered for.

The unique selling point of Port Tarraco is that it is completely different to almost everywhere else.

French-class marinas

8. port de saint tropez, france.

A jewel in the French Riviera, and one of the most famous ports in the world due to its heritage, Port de Saint Tropez offers over 700 berths for boats with an area covering 22 acres.

St Tropez is the quintessential celebrity destination; it offers the luxury restaurants, shops and expensive clubs that the world’s elite demand, while retaining its own quaint charm. It has a classic feel, with narrow streets and architecture belying its standing as a playground for the rich and famous.

Though the marina itself can only berth yachts up to 70m (230ft), larger vessels can frequently be found farther out at sea. 11. porto montenegro, montenegro.

Set in the picturesque UNESCO-protected Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, with its diverse landscape and extensive stretches of coastline and mountain peaks, Porto Montenegro is fast claiming a stake as one of Europe’s most attractive marinas.

After recent upgrades, the facility now offers the ability to berth some of the world’s largest superyachts, measuring up to 250-metres (820-feet) long. This has brought a wealthier and more prestigious clientele to the marina who are keen to sample the lavish lifestyle Montenegro can offer. The 227-berth marina caters for yachts up to 150m (492ft) and gives visitors access to sumptuous coastlines, uninhabited islands and the nearby cosmopolitan cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

An expansion development plan was revealed in October 2013 to enhance the growth of Yas Island as a leading tourist destination, and has helped to transform the marina into a vibrant dining, lifestyle, fitness and entertainment centre. It features, among other things, seven new restaurants with panoramic views, a pedestrian promenade, charter operators, wellbeing facilities, a chandlery and big events throughout the year.

The leading attraction of Yas Marina is the Yas Marina Circuit, home to the annual Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and numerous other motorsport events and experiences. Awaiting owners, guests and crew at St Barts are numerous luxury boutiques, perfect white-sand beaches and palm trees, delicious restaurants and a wild nightlife, all ensuring that Saint Barts is one of the most popular marinas and destinations for superyachts and mega yachts.

It was, of course, very difficult to restrict our list of the world’s top marinas to just 15, and there were a large number of others that were close to making the cut! From experiencing the delights of Port des Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival to the hilltop castle, pretty churches and striking towers surrounding  Port De Bonifacio , Corsica, it’s fair to say we agonised over which berths were simply the best.

With yachting still on the rise – sales of megayachts were up 40% according to the most recent 2016 wealth report by Knight Frank – we’ve compiled a list below of the new and upcoming marinas around the world that every megayacht owner, captain or traveler who charters can’t miss.

Barcelona – OneOcean Port Vell

St. Kitts – Christophe Harbour

Created by the developer of Kiawah Island, Charles Pinckney “Buddy” Darby III, The Marina at Christophe Harbour was built with the discerning yachtsman in mind, featuring 250 state-of-the-art berths – 50 of which will be able to accommodate the yachts up to 250 feet. The yachting experts at SuperYachtsMonaco have explored some of the best marinas in the world , and  uncovered where you  might find a reasonably priced bite to eat too! 

The top 20 best marina in the world have been ranked based on a number of different factors such as search volumes, Instagram hashtag popularity, TripAdvisor reviews, and the average cost of a meal for two in the area. 

Among the best marinas in the world is Yalıkavak Marina in Turkey, where the average price of a three-course meal for two is just £25, followed closely by Porto Montenegro in the town of Tivat , where a meal is likely to set you back around £51.

The pandemic-related boom in yachting has had ripple effects across the marine world. Owners are spending more time on their boats and visiting more far-flung destinations. The good news is that marinas in some of the world’s finest cruising grounds are coming online or plan to open soon. Which means that boating in paradise will be much more accessible and civilized. Here are six of the best new superyacht marinas.

Marina Pez Vela — Costa Rica

About: Costa Rica has opened its arms to international yachting. In April 2021, the country passed a new law to allow luxury charter vessels over 79 foot to legally charter and remain in its waters for up to a year. The landmark reform is the result of long-term lobbying by the Costa Rica Marina Association and Fraser Yachts.

Marina: The country’s newest and largest full-service marina—Marina Pez Vela—is located on the central Pacific coast in Quepos, near Manuel Antonio National Park. It holds 195 custom-built slips catering to yachts up to 200 feet in length. A key feature is the custom-designed Coffer dam system, a state-of-the-art floating concrete dock that has created a tranquil basin and gives owners seamless access to their vessels, regardless of tides. It is the first and only marina in Central America to offer fiber optics to all 195 slips, along with direct IPTV connections. Following April’s landmark reform, two more marinas are slated for development. Flamingo is scheduled to open in January 2022 with 90 slips for yachts up to 125 feet. Crocodile Bay in Puerto Jimenez will open with limited services in December 2021, but when complete, it will be able to moor yachts up to 250 feet.

The Strand — Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

About: The Turks and Caicos consists of 40 low-lying coral islands. They are home to some of the most spectacular scuba sites in the world, including a dramatic 7,000-foot underwater wall off Grand Turk island. Opening in 2023, The Strand is a new private residential community in the heart of Cooper Jack Bay, an undeveloped, unspoiled stretch of coastline on the protected south side of Providenciales.

Marina: In addition to the beachfront setting, The Strand will present 1,400 feet of canal and marina frontage, offering slips for owners, as well as several community yacht slips. Most of the slips will be sized to accommodate boats up to 40 feet, but some slips will accommodate motoryachts up to 60 feet. 

Hurricane Hole Marina — Paradise Landing, Bahamas

Location: As the name suggests, Paradise Island is a firm favorite among yachties seeking tropical island seclusion. Just a short flight from South Florida, the aquamarine waters offer cruising and round-the-clock access to the Atlantis Resort. More importantly for yacht owners, it’s a preferred destination to ride out tropical storms. In time to cater for a surge in Bahamian charters post pandemic, Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina at Paradise Landing has undergone a redesign with new dockside residences, gourmet grocery stores and fine dining for owners, guests and crew.

Marina: Due to be completed later this year, Hurricane Hole will include docks up to 420 feet and 6,100 linear feet of deep-water docks. The marina seawalls have been designed to reduce wave action in all conditions. Additional perks include high-speed internet, 24-hour security, long-term parking, fuel dock and dockside mobile pump-out services, boat detailing, interior cleaning and golf cart rentals.

Palm Beach Marina — South Florida

About: High-end Worth Avenue shopping and yachting nostalgia are the calling cards of Florida’s Palm Beach. Separated from the mainland by the Lake Worth Lagoon, the area is known for its glitzy real estate, cultural arts scene and year-round golden sands. The climate allows for a 12-month boating season along a coastline that is known for its easy coastal and inlet access to yachts of all sizes.

Marina: The 84-slip Palm Beach Marina has long been the only public superyacht port in the area, servicing both motor and sail boats since the 1940s. But the classic yachting hub is undergoing a radical transformation, thanks to a $40 million renovation that will see the addition of a 250-foot Royal Palm Dock, a new floating dock system and a collection of technological upgrades, including high-speed WiFi, enhanced shore power and upgraded security systems. It’s scheduled to reopen Nov. 1. 

Riva Lounge — Porto Cervo, Sardinia

About:  Few locations hold as much cachet as Porto Cervo on Costa Smeralda, and few boat brands have as much heritage as Riva. The seaside resort in northern Sardinia remains a yachting mainstay where celebrities, royals and socialites gather, drawn by the area’s gastronomic thrills, trend-setting abodes and natural beauty. Sardinia also has some of the best diving in Italy, with maze-like caves and fascinating rock formations.

Marina: Last summer, the Italian icons came together with the arrival of the Riva Lounge, which opened in partnership with Waterfront Costa Smeralda. Designed by architect GioPagani, all the furnishings in the Lounge share similar features to those typically found on board Riva’s classic wooden boats. Aquarama chairs are paired with the same materials and woods used by Riva for 60 years. The 1960s Dolce Vita style—chrome, steel and lacquered mahogany—conjures up the golden age of yachting. In nearby Porto Vecchio, the Ferretti Group VIP Lounge offers a refined alternative in which to relax, paired with a temporary Riva boutique.

Montage Cay — Abaco Islands, Bahamas

About: Make way for Montage Cay. The 53-acre private-island Bahamian resort is set to debut in The Abacoss in 2023. Located one mile off the coast of Marsh Harbour, the marina offers superyacht owners and charterers travel-bubble convenience with its proximity to an international airport and private jet FBO. The Sea of Abaco and surrounding cays make up a turquoise nirvana for boaters and sailors. The Montage Cay resort will include a collection of private residences built to be in harmony with the island’s seven white-sand beaches.

With nine seas and the Atlantic, Europe has more than 900 seaports, many of which are well worth a visit.  So here's a look at 10 of Europe's most spectacular ports for superyachts.

1. Port Vauban, Antibes

This port is one of the oldest and largest in Europe, it is located in the heart of the French Riviera, in Antibes and more precisely in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The marina has 1,642 berths, including 19 places for superyachts at the Quai des Billionaires. The port of Antibes can accommodate yachts up to 170 meters in length, with a maximum draught of 7 meters.  Around the Port Vauban in Antibes, we have a stunning coastal village between Monaco and Saint-Tropez, whose ancient appearance attracts many tourists.  In the Vauban harbour, a refuelling station is located next to the central harbour master's office, and all yachts in the harbour benefit from high-speed broadband internet access, as well as shore power and free black and grey water pumping. The port is currently monitored by 20 CCTV units, with plans to install a further 165 cameras, and there is on-site security covering the entire port.

The 7 Most Exciting New Superyacht Marinas in the World

Superyacht marinas are more than just a place to park your boat: They offer a premium world of convenience and leisure for owners, charterers and crew alike, in some of the most coveted cruising destinations in the world. Top requirements include large berths for yachts of up to 250 feet, private yacht clubs dreamed up by starchitects, opulent spas, crew facilities, docking, fueling and charging facilities, not to mention a raft of gastronomic eateries, bars, clubs and casinos.

Los Cabos, Mexico

Best marinas to dock your boat..

Marine, marina, harbor, yacht club, port — not exactly synonyms, but close. A marina provides safe dockage for vessels of all sizes, often offering supplies, repair, and other facilities to those who rent a slip. A quick (but unreliable) Google search told us that there at about 12,000 marinas in the United States.

Whether that’s true or not, that’s a lot to sift through. But we did it — we found the top 10 superyacht marinas in the U.S.

1. Yacht Haven Grande | Miami, Florida

“Welcome to Miami” is the vibe when you step off the yacht and into Yacht Haven Grande by Island Gardens. This marina is nothing short of flash and accommodates some of the largest superyachts in the world. 

This Miami marina was specifically designed to host mega yachts reaching 500+ feet in length, plus accommodation for smaller tenders. Onsite amenities include a luxury lounge, conference room, mail and package delivery, concierge service, BBQ area for crew, and water taxi to select Miami waterfronts. All the way at the End of the World (as Montauk, NY is so often referred to), is Gurney’s Star Island Marina . It’s part of a larger resort and therefore offers plenty of amenities for boat owners who book a slip. Despite a sense of exclusivity, Gurney’s Star Island Marina does not require a membership. 

The marina can accommodate yachts up to 220 feet with a maximum draft of 12 feet. Boat guests have full access to Gurney’s Star Island facilities and amenities, including laundry services, a private beach, a fitness center, heated pools, tennis courts, and waterfront dining options. It’s a welcome land excursion for yacht charters in New England .

Smack dab in the heart of Fort Lauderdale is the Bahia Mar Resort and Yachting Center (also home to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show ). It’s all about the amenities when you dock at Bahia Mar, which includes access to a swimming pool, fitness center, entertainment concierge, diving and sailing tours, and dining options. Oh, and the beach is right across the street. 

The marina is separated into the South Basin and the North Basin, with the resort, parking, shops, and restaurants conveniently in the middle. Bahia Mar holds 250 slips and can accommodate vessels up to 300 feet in length. Facilities include fueling, free WiFi, cable television, and pump out. 4. Safe Harbor Charleston City | Charleston, South Carolina

Safe Harbor has locations all over the west and east coasts, but its marina in Charleston , South Carolina is one of the best superyacht marinas in the United States. It’s home to the Mega Dock (dun, dun duunn), which hosts some of the most prestigious yachts in the world.

Charleston is a premier boating destination , and the marina’s state-of-the-art facilities and southern hospitality are a welcome respite after a big day on the water. Yachts that book a slip at Safe Harbor receive complimentary wifi, shore power hookups, freshwater hookups, and cable TV hookups. They also have a full marine service, fuel dock, and waterfront restaurant. ClubSwan 43 First Look: A Spicy and Seriously Appealing Cruiser-Racer

What does a genuine cruiser-racer look like today? Spicy and seriously appealing if we take Swan’s latest model as an example. Granted, the dark brown water surrounding the ClubSwan 43 (CS43) during this first photoshoot doesn’t quite sell it, but believe me, the lines and details of Juan Kouyoumdjian’s latest rocketship really does get the heart rate spiking. This is one slippery weapon, potentially as stunning to sail as her fiery looks promise.

And it’s rare to find a new yacht that properly fulfills a dual-purpose role. Admittedly this design is skewed more towards racing, which will likely be the focus of most owners. But like its predecessor, the CS42, it features a fitted interior for occasional fair weather cruising – the modern shape of the new boat helps provide large volumes below decks (for a race boat) in a three-cabin layout.

Swan markets the ClubSwan 43 as ‘the perfect crossover’ because it targets three briefs: one-design events, handicap regatta ratings, and sports cruising. Some readers will remember it began life on the drawing board a couple of years ago as a 41-footer. But when the ORC band limits changed, Swan changed with it, extending this to a 43 as the Finnish boatbuilders wanted to be in the middle of Cat A for this international rating system.

Sea trials from the yard – but with race sails fitted and a hiking crew this time.

“ORC is getting bigger every year so this was our focus,” Nautor’s CEO Giovanni Pomati explained as we attended the launch and first sea trials from Swan’s Pietersaari yard.

Pomati described how Swan clients love to race in Nautor’s one-design circuit but also want to compete in high-profile regattas such as the Copa del Rey or Admiral’s Cup, and have the option of then cruising with their families. But he admits this is a mighty tall order: “As Juan K says – ‘you want a pig with five legs!’”

ClubSwan 43’s design versatility

“For me the way all these different aspects between performance, interior/cruising ability, and where the boat sits in terms of its performance to rating makes it a successful and beautiful sailboat,” muses Kouyoumdjian.

The visionary Argentinian naval architect has given the ClubSwan range a formidable boost since the CS50 launched in 2016. That was followed by the CS36 , the CS125 Skorpios (both of which have foils), the CS80 My Song, and now the CS28 and this CS43 both launching this season. He says the CS43’s hull is 500-700kg lighter yet 1.5m longer than its typical competitor.

A novel feature, designed to suit those owners optimising their boat for ORC racing, is that the keel has a pocket in the top of the bulb to adjust the ballast without changing the whole keel (see page 84). This L-shaped keel is very thin at the leading edge, a high aspect shape to provide lift going upwind, and the design team calculates this will create much less leeway than a T-keel.

Another clever addition is to be found in the rig. The standard carbon mast is heavily raked with running backstays and a contemporary square-top mainsail for optimum performance in one-design racing. However, the masthead crane can be changed out to use a pinhead mainsail and fixed backstay, which is more practical when cruising. This fitting attaches with two pins, so you don’t need to de-rig the boat and can just hoist someone aloft.

“We spent a lot of time to simplify like this to swap from one configuration to another,” says head of sports activities Federico Michetti, who spearheaded the CS43 project.

Admittedly, I find the lines very cool indeed, with the flared aft sections, reverse sheer, chamfered coachroof and modern deck angles setting off an appealing, aggressive and sporty tone.

Good and bad surprises

Why have I harked on about the design and concept before describing what it’s like to sail? Because there’s an anti-climax looming… the first boat hadn’t quite been finished in time to give it a full test during our yard visit in June – we only managed a quick introductory sail, hence why this is only a ‘First Look’.

Ours were the very first sea trials of the first hull to launch. Although Swan had tried to finish as much of the interior as possible, it was certainly not complete (the aft cabins had no doors, the heads were unfinished and the sole boards were yet to be fitted). The bigger issue was that the sails had been held up in customs in Denmark, so our delivery sails comprised a pinhead main and a high-cut storm jib. Although I pleaded to borrow another yacht’s gennaker, the bowsprit still needed tackline fairleads and a bobstay fitting. So white Dacron sails only it was.

Yet despite the equivalent of furnishing a carbon superbike with mountain bike wheels, we still had a delicious taster. We sailed in the tight confines of the channel to try and harness a confused wind as the light sea breeze began to stifle the offshores. This gave us a tricky yet fun mix of angles with winds gusting up from 8 to 17 knots.

And what a feeling this yacht gives you on the wheel – super direct and smooth! The Jefa steering linkage has a short run aft to a carbon stock and vinylester rudder, a deep, high aspect blade (to match the keel fin), which felt beautifully light and responsive.

Appetite whetter

The ClubSwan 43 proved noticeably quick to accelerate. We averaged 7+ knots upwind at 40° true in 12 knots (another half knot if you bear off 5-8°). Of course, the numbers are somewhat irrelevant with the sails we had and with no offwind options (indeed the polars suggest it should clock 8 knots in such conditions in one-design mode), but the feel and spark were very evident and pointed to genuinely potent capabilities.

While it has generous beam carried aft, look at the flare to the aft quarters: it leaves only a narrow wetted surface. It’s a slippery shape that should start planing when reaching in around 12 knots true wind. It will want a full hiking crew to establish how lethal the CS43 is upwind, but my impression is that intelligent use of crew weight, both lateral and fore and aft, could make a telling difference.

The wheel pedestals are twisted, which forces a double take at first, but proved effective as they’re at the ideal angle to grip when heeled and gain the helmsman space. The mainsheet trimmer has a comfortable space between the wheel and German-led mainsheet winch. Traveller control lines are led here to hand via camcleats on the central footbrace, although the endless line joining them can cause a tripping hazard.

The deck design and ergonomics are superb. The angles help to both give the CS43 a modern feel and work in a practical sense. For example, the chamfers on the coachroof make for a comfortable boat to sit up on the side deck or to walk on at heel, while a hiking crew will be grateful for the angled toerail join.

Michetti is particularly happy with these ergonomics, especially those that help crew to feel safe at heel. The SeaDek foam decking in the cockpit is comfortable and grippy underfoot, the moulded-in non-slip decks effective, and there is a sturdy central longitudinal footbrace for crewmembers in the cockpit.

The winch layout is also well considered, particularly for racing. The coachroof winches have free spinning bases for cross-sheeting, and the runner winches are neatly set into the decks, again on an angle. The runners blocks are quite far inboard on the transom, but Michetti explains that the boom will never be eased too far with the apparent wind angles it will race at. The jib sheets lead through transverse tracks to give a very tight sheeting angle, while the running rigging runs through slanted grooves in the coachroof.

A lot of experience and forethought has gone into these details.

Keel pocket allows simple change of ballast weight

More clues to its raceboat focus include having the main and jib halyards on locks, which helps reduce mast compression, and the numbered gauges on the foam decking for the traveller. Making full use of the reverse sheer, the foredeck ramps down into a well to make the forestay attachment as low as possible.

The spacious cockpit has low backrests and short benches. In cruising mode there’s the option for a removable table and box seats to join the cockpit benches. A windlass can be fitted in the anchor locker and the bowsprit can be swapped with two bolts for a shorter version that includes twin anchor rollers.

Clean styling

Below decks has a light, open feel, with good volumes and large aft cabins. Lucio Micheletti has done a good job with the minimalist interior styling and it is more cruising yacht than stripped-back raceboat. That said, the yard has gone to painstaking lengths to ensure it can be stripped without ruining the boat. Cork panels are used on the hull sides, for example, for noise insulation but they’re Velcroed-on so can be removed for racing.

There will be an option to close off the forward berth

In fact, pretty much anything that can be removable is, including the saloon table, the aft bed boards, the water tank bladders, even the headlining. This amounts to over 200kg in furniture and fittings.

The concept of stripping a luxury yacht may seem baffling but Michetti explains how competitive boats racing in ORC today all do this and are ‘bastardised’ with fake interiors and furniture. Hence it makes sense to design-in as many removable fittings as possible. For Swan’s one-design racing programme, yachts will have to have their interiors fitted. So this is a truly transformable model.

It’s also a practical wash down, wipe clean type interior, so should be able to handle spinnaker drops without ruining the finish. A string drop system can be fitted, led back to a block in the aft cabin so you can suck a kite in through the forward hatch. All deck hatch drainage is outside via neat wells on deck and it’s a deck-stepped mast, so the interior should stay dry.

The hatch on the forward watertight bulkhead opens to access the forepeak and chain locker. There will be an option to close off the forward berth with sliding doors, and Swan was still deciding whether to add headlinings in the aft cabins (which will also have fabric wardrobes). The CS43 is built using vacuum-infused vinylester with carbon reinforcements, a high modulus carbon Axxon rig, and a carbon bowsprit.

The ClubSwan 43 costs a whopping €820,000, yet the first three were signed before this first hull launched (the larger sister CS50 is €600,000 more and costs more to run, yet has sold nearly 30). So while this just might be one of the coolest new yachts I’ve sailed, for that exotic price it needs to be near perfect. And I can’t tell you if it is... yet. I can only say it’s got huge potential. Its pricing will render it a product for the lucky few, but that’s buying into the exclusive, unrivalled world of Swan’s regatta and one-design circuits. The Nautor badge will also carry a lot of weight in terms of aftersales value. Our sail was a mere amuse-bouche, when I’d have loved to try the full taster menu. While it was frustrating for Swan and us not to be able to sail it to its potential, I can say that there are very, very few yachts that feel this good on the wheel without even being set up properly! I eagerly await a re-run.
