Xp 38, Build number #48, commissioned 2014. White hull with dark blue hull stripes and 2.45m T-Shaped keel. Standard aluminium mast and furling jib. Teak in cockpit, coachroof and side deck. Below deck she has three cabins, with one heads, classic layout with U-Shaped galley and owner's v-berth forward. Highly specified for performance cruise or race.

Red Five was our first yacht having sailed dinghies and racing small keel boats for many years. We were looking for a yacht that was not only great for cruising with family and friends but also a day racer that has dock side appeal. The Xp 38 delivers on all three bringing a smile to our faces every time we walk down the dock to board her. She is perfectly balanced with finger tip control in all conditions with a sportboat feel easily handled either short handed or with a full crew. We have had great fun with the family and friends club racing and the Round the Island winning our class a number of times including the X-Yacht Regatta this year!

Racing aside she has mainly been used for cruising around the Solent and further afield for our annual West Country cruise to Falmouth and back. Passage planning at 6 knots seems to work well but she is much faster if you want to press on. Upwind is where she really excels cutting effortlessly through any sea making cruising a joy with all controls in the cockpit including the main electric winch which we added for ease of raising the main and furling the jib.Over the last few years we have added a full cruising set of sails and furling G Zero together with a stack pack to make sail handling easy. The original North 3DL sails are stored for racing if you want that extra bit of speed !

Since we bought Red Five 5 years ago the X-Yacht team have been brilliant at supporting us and maintaining her every year to a very high standard making ownership stress free. With the family now grown up my wife and I want to do some more travelling so feel now is a good time to pass Red Five to another owner to enjoy her many talents. Once we have satisfied our travel bug I have no doubt we will be back to an X-Yacht maybe even Red Five if she is available!

20 passengers killed and hundreds missing in Congo boat accident

Local officials in western Congo say that a weekend boat accident on the Lukeni river has left at least 20 people dead and hundreds missing

KINSHASA, Congo — A boat accident on the Lukeni river in western Congo over the weekend left at least 20 people dead and hundreds missing, a local official said Tuesday.

It was the latest deadly boat accident in the central African country, where overloading is often to blame, including i n June when an overloaded boat sank near the capital and 80 passengers lost their lives.

In the latest accident, the motorized wooden boat was carrying about 300 passengers and navigating by night when it crashed into a sunken barge, Kutu territory administrator Jacques Nzenza Mongie said during a news conference.

At least 20 corpses were found during searches Tuesday, Mongie told The Associated Press. An additional 46 people were rescued and hundreds were still missing, he said.

Navigating by night is illegal in Congo, and a provincial commission is currently at the site of the accident to determine who was responsible, Gov. Lebon Nkoso Kevan of Maï-Ndombe province said Tuesday.

Congolese officials have often warned against overloading and vowed to punish those violating safety measures for water transportation.

Attorney With Litchfield County Roots, Wife Missing After Yacht Capsizes In Italy: Reports

A New York attorney with Connecticut roots and his wife are among seven people missing after the yacht they were on capsized early this week in Italy, according to multiple reports.

Christopher Morvillo 

Christopher Morvillo, age 59, who attended the Canterbury School in Litchfield County, Connecticut, and later Fordham University, along with his wife, Neda Morvillo, age 57, are among six people who are unaccounted after the 184-foot luxury yacht overturned off the coast of Sicily on Monday morning, Aug. 19, according to ABC 7.

Twenty-two people were on board the ship at the time of the incident near Palermo, according to the report.

The couple's bodies may still be on the boat, which rescuers have had a difficult time reaching, ABC 7 reports.

According to the Financial Times , the yacht is owned by a client of Morvillo's, British tycoon Mike Lynch.

Morvillo served as an assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1999 to 2005, having helped in the criminal investigation stemming from the 9/11 attacks, according to his bio on his firm's website.

Two months ago, Morvillo wrote a post on LinkedIn following an exoneration in a client. After congratulating multiple colleagues and team members, Morvillo thanks his family.

"And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo. None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home," said Morvillo, closing on an eerie note.
