Nowhere in the world has captured such a sweeping variety and as the largest continent it makes sense that every corner should tell a completely different storey. Still, what connects Russia from city to country, north to south, mountain to ocean, is its fairytale like landscapes and mythologically rich ways of life. From bear festivals and volcanoes in Kamchatka to the golden domes and dreams of Moscow, the rugged natural bliss of the Urals, and the remote archipelagos of the northwest, Russia is always a riddle.

And the Koryak place emphasis on the reindeer as being one of the most important animals in their lives.

Where to Visit in Russia

Sheer majesty marks Moscow on the map as being the cultural epicentre of Russia. From its impressively ornate skyline flecked with golden domes to its historic café culture and rich history, there is so much to see and do. The Kremlin and the Red Square will woo any history buff, as will the many communist state remains scattered throughout. The city is also home to no less than six hundred churches all adorned in orthodox finery. For those yacht charter guests hoping to fill their hours with beautiful ballet performances, ice cold vodka, chandeliers and caviar, Moscow is trimmed with luxury.

Kamchatka is out of this world bringing dreamy yacht charter scenes of bears standing against volcanic backdrops and skies every shade of lavender. With a peninsula rinsed by the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, Kamchatka offers amazing water exploration where you can kayak alongside killer whales and surf the easy peelers of the pacific. Kamchatka is sheer outdoor adventure; climb a volcano, snorkel with seals, and take dramatic helicopter flights over spitting geysers deep in the volcanic laced interior.

Solovetsky Island

Sitting in the equally mystical sounding White Sea, the Solovetsky Islands are a far-flung remote archipelago boasting six main islands and hundreds of lakes. There’s a gloriously impressive fort and monastery standing proud on the main island and traditional village settlements that invite you to enjoy intimate encounters with the locals. The monastery is a UNESCO heritage site and still home to a handful of monks. The backdrop from which the islands shine is a mediaeval tapestry of woodlands, wilderness, empty bays, and big skies.

Ural Mountains

From the Arctic Ocean across to Kazakhstan, the Ural Mountains ripple like the backbone of Russia, stretching on for no less than 2.5 thousand kilometres. Mighty, untouched, and cleaving Europe and Asia in half, the Urals can be daunting to discover. But for those yacht charter guests intrepid enough to make the journey, you will be treated to a whirlwind of blue lakes, old Russian orthodox churches, holy mountains, not to mention rivers and ice caves that could put even the most vivid fantasy landscapes to shame.

When to Charter a Yacht in Russia

The summer months are the only times when sailing to the remote corner of Russia are possible. This is a land that suffers harsh winters and white night summers. Between the months of May and September but closer to the summer peak (mid-July) means that you are able to enjoy ambient temperatures and a wealth of awakened wildlife.

73m auctioned yacht Axioma undergoes refit ahead of return to charter market

The 72.5-metre motor yacht Axioma is making a return to the charter market after an extensive refit. Built in 2013 by Dunya Yachts , Axioma made headlines after she was temporarily arrested in 2022 when her former owner was found to be in breach of a loan agreement with JP Morgan Bank.

The Admiralty Court of Gibraltar then sold Axioma for just over $37.5 million in a private auction, with Howe Robinson handling the sale. A total of 63 bids were considered after a license granted by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control authorised US-based buyers to participate in the sale.

Now the 72.5-metre – which has long been considered a remarkable feat of design – is making a return to the charter market with Northrop & Johnson following a huge refit, which upon completion will see the yacht restored to her former glory.

So far, the yacht has spent several months at MB92 in La Ciotat, France for a multi-million-euro reinvestment from its owner. During this period, all mechanical concerns on board were addressed. The hull and superstructure were also repainted with a striking shade of turquoise. Other updates include new technical systems, hydraulics, stabilisers, tanks and the main engines, which have been overhauled. The yacht has also seen a galley upgrade, new teak (and teak maintenance) and a host of new toys.

Axioma was known to have one of the best water toy collections on the market with a range of pool toys such as a basketball set and football net. Additionally, she had two inflatable sailing boats, an eight-person banana boat, SeaBobs, a Waverunner, kayaks, paddleboards, diving equipment and a surfboard.

Speaking on the refit, a Northrop and Johnson spokesperson said, "[ Axioma ] has had a comprehensive overhaul of critical systems, equipment, and onboard amenities, enhancing safety, performance, and luxury." The yacht will return to the charter market early next year and be available from mid-March.

However, the Alberto Pinto interior remains a core part of the yacht that was carefully preserved. The late designer created a contemporary beach house style, with a bright summertime feel. Light-coloured woods and natural fabrics are used throughout along with bold pops of colour. Her interiors offer an impressive mezzanine main saloon, a formal dining room, a 3D cinema, a fully equipped gym, a massage room, a steam room and deck spaces complete with a Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar. Accommodation on board is for 12 guests across six cabins with a flexible arrangement.

Axioma will be available for charter with Northrop and Johnson from mid-March 2025. She will be cruising the Mediterranean during the event season including the Monaco Grand Prix . Her summer weekly rate is low €562,500 to €625,000 high.

For Season 5, the crew is in Ibiza! A small island in the Mediterranean Sea, it’s one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world. A press release ahead of the season described the locale as "the luxury party capital of the world" known for "sunny day parties and a crystal-clear coast."

Glenn certainly agrees. "This Season, we're here in Ibiza, and I love Ibiza," the captain declared on the show's October 7 Season 5 premiere. "It's beautiful, there's great water, and it's notorious worldwide as being party central of planet Earth. I mean, come on." 

Daisy Kelliher seemed to arrive at the new location with a new outlook on the charter season. After an all-crew meeting in the premiere episode, Daisy stated in an interview, "I'm in Ibiza, I'm f-cking good at my job, and I'm taking back the reins." 

Based on the trailer above, this season in Ibiza will continue to be filled with fun moments and plenty of drama.

Where have past seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Filmed?

The tropical paradise of Ibiza is completely new territory for the series. For every season thus far, the crew has been taken to a different location. 

In the premiere season, the crew enjoyed Corfu, Greece. In Season 2, Glenn steered the yacht into the beautiful waters surrounding Croatia. Soon followed Season 3 and 4, which were in Menorca, Spain and Sardinia, Italy, respectively.

Has the Below Deck franchise previously filmed in Ibiza? 

Yes. Although Ibiza is a first for Below Deck Sailing Yacht , the Below Deck Mediterranean   crew briefly headed there on Season 5, Episode 14.

"Ibiza is definitely known as the party capital of the Med," Aesha Scott said at the time as she joined Captain Sandy Yawn and the Wellington crew. "It's got some of the best clubs in the world." 

"I'm so excited," she added. "I love Spain."

FLIBS 2024: Luxury charter yachts attending the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Less than two weeks until the latest edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) opens its doors and the 2024 edition looks to welcome a captivating fleet of luxury yacht charters.

Scheduled to run from 30 October - 3 November, the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is currently expecting a fleet of 58 USA yacht charters with an average length of 137.6ft (41.95m). Known to annually present a number of debuts, the 2024 edition of FLIBS is no exception with a broad number of USA debuts and many super yacht charters unveiling the results of their 2024 refits. 

Now in the final preparation stages, the seven locations of FLIBS are gearing up to welcome the yachting industry in what promises to be an exceptional event. 

The largest superyacht charter to confirm attendance to FLIBS since 279.10ft (85.3m) explorer yacht charter BOLD in 2021, 257.4ft (78.43m) superyacht charter AMARYLLIS boasts a striking elongated silhouette with a premium collection of onboard amenities including a PADI certified training center and an indulgent health and wellness area. 

Fresh from her visit to the Monaco Yacht Show, this Abeking & Rasmussen yacht rental  has a great array of water toys, plus plenty of exterior deck space to make the most of rolling seascapes during USA or Bahamas yacht charters .
