Anyone know anything about the Reflex 38 racing yacht please?

I've raced against them and chatted with people who have raced on them. Quick on most points of sail but struggle to live up to their handicap in a decent chop. I am told that accomodation is apparently not very good with not enough berths for the number of crew required to race the thing and those are not in the right areas for weight distribution for the off watch crew either.  

Reflex 38 I meant is built by Harley Race Boats and designer: Christian Stimson I was after the following: 1) Sailing quality in various wind conditions and directions? 2) Handicap on IRC ok or not? 3) Build quality, durability? 4) Comparisons with Prima 38? Anything else?

I own a Pronavia 38 - the cruising version of the Reflex 38, speak to www.sailinglogic.co.uk - RORC Yacht of the year this year and RORC school boat of the year for the last 5 years I believe. I cruise in my Pronavia 38 and its also raced, very fast cruising and it brings home the results on the race course - no complaints.

sailed the prototype pronovia about 3yrs ago - didn't perform well against the reflex - heavier v poor quality fit out inside (looked v nice though), hatches leaked, tack on No 1 pulled out etc etc. we were disappointed - hope the production boats got better. again - repeating advice above - go and talk to the folks at sailing logic

Construction

This boat is MCA Cat 2 approved for 10 people. Hull was stripped of all paint in 2007, and treated with International VC Tar 2, and International Race Anti-fouling with Teflon. All skin fittings were also replaced. The Rudder was completely re built with new bearings etc in 2008.

Accommodation

The accomodation on this boat consists of a double berth in the forward cabin along with appropriate storage. There are 4 x single berths in the convertable saloon along with 4 x single cot berths aft. The Interior has just undergone refurbishment

Description.

The Reflex 38 was conceived as a one-design offshore race boat and commissioned by Sir Robin Knox-Johnson for the race training and corporate hospitality arm of Clipper Ventures. However... this is the only Reflex 38 to have been privately owned and sailed since new, never part of the original Knox-Johnson charter fleet. Built for the 1999 Southampton Boat Show, she was fitted out for short-handed cruising as well as remaining a competitive racing boat. This boat has an enviable racing record winning Warsash Spring series and Class 2 in Cowes in its first year alone. She has many years of successful regatta and club racing and finishing 10th overall in the AZAB in 2019. There are some notable differences, a watertight bulkhead forward, some powered winches and a galley and saloon which is more suited to spending time aboard rather than just getting your head down between watches - but the stylish lines, ease of handling and performance are pure Reflex and she's a joy to step aboard. The Reflex 38 is 38 feet long and has a 13 feet beam. This 1999 diesel Reflex 38 with 38 horsepower is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 8 knots and a cruising speed of 6. The Reflex 38 is made of fiberglass. This vessel comes equipped with anchor, battery, battery charger, bilge pump, cd player, fenders, spray hood as well as being equipped with autopilot, compass, depth instrument, gps, navigation lights, plotter, radar, speed instrument, wind instrument.
