Na Pali Experience

Kauai's pristine Na Pali Coast stands out among Hawaii's many beautiful coastlines for its rugged and striking beauty. Lush, verdant cliffs rise dramatically out of the ocean to heights of over 4,000 feet (1,200 meters).

Much of this 17-mile stretch of coastline is unreachable by land because of its remote location and sheer cliffs. Hikers can view approximately one-third of the coastline by walking the strenuous 11.2-mile Kalalau trail. You can only see the rest of Na Pali by air or boat.

Native Hawaiians used outrigger canoes to reach the beautiful beaches and valleys of Na Pali. Today, only ambitious kayakers attempt this challenging paddle during the nicest summer weather.

Boat tours are truly the best, easiest, and most rewarding way to experience the full scope and scale of the Na Pali Coast. Year-round boat tours are available on our sailing catamarans and rigid-hull rafts.

This tour is also called our “Photo Favorite Tour” due to the tremendous photo opportunities during this time of the day, with the Na Pali Coast facing west into the sunlight.

Our catamaran boat tours take you along the Na Pali coast with ease! 

The Afternoon Na Pali Tour starts with Check-in is from 12:00-12:30pm for tours departing at 12:45pm. Check-in is from 12:30-1:00pm for tours departing at 1:15pm.

Snorkeling equipment and floatation devices are provided, as well as a waterproof dry-bag.

Please note that we do not guarantee snorkeling or entrance into sea caves. Our goal is always to provide the best tour possible, given the day’s weather and ocean conditions. Safety is priority #1.

Leaving Hanalei Bay, you reach the Na Pali in about 15 minutes. Along the way, you pass some premier windsurfing, kiteboarding, and local surf spots before arriving at the Na Pali Coast.

Other tours originating from Port Allen take hours of travel to get to and from the Na Pali while seeing only a fraction of the beauty that the Na Pali Coast has to offer. During our “off-season,” we are pleased to offer a modified tour experience that promises an unforgettable adventure! While our winter tours will be 3 hours long, as opposed to our standard 4-hour tours during peak season, the focus will be on captivating sightseeing and wildlife viewing along the Na Pali Coast. Please note that lunch is not provided, as we aim to reduce waste in the event of a tour cancellation. Snorkeling and sea cave exploration are less likely during the winter months, but our captains will always monitor the conditions and may have opportunities to incorporate these activities if the weather permits. Your safety is our priority, and you can rest assured that our tours will be conducted in the safest and most responsible manner possible.Our seasoned captains and crew members are committed to ensuring your well-being at all times, and we will not hesitate to cancel any tour if the conditions are deemed unsuitable. Private charter, depart from the lush north shore – just 15 minutes away from the na pali coast.

Join us on an adventure of a lifetime covering the full 15 miles of the Na Pali Coast.  Depart from the lush north shore rain or shine. Hanalei Bay is a beautiful natural port.  Our knowledgeable crew provides light narration as they take you down this secluded coastline to a land lost in time. We love to pull under cascading waterfalls that drop into the ocean, alongside majestic cliffs and explore ancient sea caves. As we first head out, be camera ready and keep your eyes open for pods of Hawaiian spinner dolphins, green sea turtles, monk seals, whales (in season) and other marine life. We’ll stop for 1 hour for lunch on aboard and jump in the water. The return ride back to Hanalei is a guaranteed Hawaiian roller coaster ride!

Requirements:

• Guests must be prepared to be exposed to the elements and ride an open vessel with NO bathroom.  It always rains in Hanalei but we travel west towards the drier side!
• Guests must be in good general health and able to climb a vertical dive ladder from shallow waters to board and disembark, sometimes in small surf.  Hanalei Bay is a natural port with NO loading docks.
•   Anyone pregnant, under age 4, with a serious health concern (ie neck or back issues, heart condition, etc.), 275 lbs or more, gone through recent surgery  or who tests positive for COVID-19 is not permitted.

Tour Disclosure:   Northerly surf swells can affect snorkel spots and prevent safe exploration near sea cliffs and caves.  Sea cave entry and snorkeling cannot be guaranteed in advance for safety reasons.

The tour begins with a mandatory check-in at Kikiaola Boat Harbor, where you will board the Marina A, the fastest large-scale catamaran that departs from the harbor. As you journey towards the Na Pali Coast, you will have the opportunity to spot Hawaii’s amazing marine wildlife, including dolphins, sea turtles, and humpback whales in the right season.

Once you reach the coastline, the captains will take you up close to waterfalls and sea caves at the base of Kauai’s 3,500 ft tall sea cliffs. You will also hear about the amazing history of the Na Pali Coast and stop at the best possible photo spots to capture this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The adventure continues to Makole, a pristine snorkeling spot along the base of the Na Pali Coast, where you will experience a wonderful blue ocean snorkel complete with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles and a vast array of beautiful reef fish. Our brand new 35ft Deluxe Power Catamaran was custom designed for touring Na Pali Coast and was built with our guests in mind. She’s the perfect size for Na Pali; large enough to handle the seas and keep you comfortable, and small enough to fit into the various sea caves when conditions permit. She’s also the only boat in our fleet that has a marine head (a teeny tiny restroom) if a true emergency situation arises. For those seeking an adventure ride but don’t want to sacrifice comfort; this modern cutting edge vessel, won’t let you down.

Carefully select a tour below that has bullet points that agree with your priorities. In general, expect MUCH calmer seas in the morning with greater marine life encounter odds. In the afternoon, the sea state gets a lot more “exciting” with increased winds, but the pay off is seeing Na Pali Coast light up as the sun positions itself perfectly to showcase Na Pali’s beauty. This Epic seven-hour sightseeing and snorkeling tour is one of the most unique ways to explore the Napali Coast and the “Forbidden Island” of Niihau. The crystal-clear water off Niihau is home to hundreds of fish species, including surgeon fish, tangs, parrot fish, purple starfish, and other vibrant tropical marine life, as well as the endangered and social Hawaiian Monk Seal .

Experience pure adventure on the Napali-Niihau Super Tour , a 7-hour journey exploring the Na Pali Coast and the “Forbidden Island” of Niihau. Marvel at the majestic hanging valleys and sharp peaks of the Napali Coast from our custom 65-foot powered catamaran, built on Kauai for the fastest and most comfortable ride. Along the way, look out for Hawaiian spinner dolphins, sea turtles, and Humpback whales during October -April.

Upon reaching Niihau, the captain will select the perfect spot for snorkeling in crystal-clear waters teeming with colorful marine life. The giant swim steps off the back of the boat make for easy access in and out of the water. Top-of-the-line snorkel mask, fins, and a pool noodles floatation will make for a safe and comfortable experience.  Encounter a variety of fish species, including surgeonfish, tangs, parrotfish, and vibrant starfish.
