I cannot express how impressed I am with Yachtfish Marine! After our yacht had some serious mechanical issues, we were in a tight spot. From the moment we contacted them for help, they provided exemplary service. Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about getting our yacht back in top shape. From the initial assessment to the final repair, they communicated every step of the process, and we always felt well-informed. The quality of their work is outstanding. Our yacht now runs better than ever, and we couldn't be happier with the results. They took the time to explain the repairs, and we felt confident in their expertise. What truly stood out was their commitment to customer satisfaction. They went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and our questions were answered. The turnaround time was impressive, and they were upfront about pricing, so there were no hidden surprises. If you're looking for a marine repair service that is reliable, skilled, and genuinely cares about its customers, Yachtfish Marine is the place to go. We're incredibly grateful for their excellent work, and we'll definitely be returning for any future yacht maintenance needs. Highly recommended! Thank you, Yachtfish Marine, for your exceptional service and for going the extra mile to get our yacht back on the water! I hope this review helps convey a positive experience with Yachtfish Marine's yacht repair service. You can personalize it with your specific experiences and details to make it more authentic.
They know how to paint a boat but don't let them work on your engine. They start installing parts until they find the problem, or think they found it. I loss a lot of money and didn't fix the problem. Nice person at the desk said I should go someplace else to get it fixed.

Mark M; We are grieved that you were unsatisfied with our repairs. I am concerned that you did not reach out to us with regards your dissatisfaction, but instead posted online here. Per our contract you have 90 days to bring any issues you have to the owner of the company so that we can address and fix any issues for free.
I used Yachtfish for the haul out of my 45' DeFever and had a very good experience. Not a complicated job but when I showed up at the appointed time they where ready for me. The boat had not been hauled in 3 years and had lots of barnacles, muscles and other things along for the ride. On my way home that afternoon I stopped by and the bottom was all cleaned up and ready to be worked on. The job was completed when promised even with some bad weather to contend with. They did not try to sell me on all sort of things they just did a fine job of what I wanted done. Will use them next year.
I had Yachtfish do extensive work on my boat. I thought they were terrible to work with. They'll give you a quote and clearly have no intent of honoring it. When I ask the guys in the yard, they'll tell you a certain project took 3 hours, but then you get the bill, it's double that. I had the owner tell me something took 5 hours, and then the bill showed 10. I'm pretty sure they have a standard practice to double all actual time performed to calculate the bill. Worse yet, they don't stand behind their work. After they did work on a certain system, there were problems with it immediately following pickup and they continually tried to blame the problem on anything and everything to get out of fixing the work they didn't do right in the first place. I would recommend steering clear of entrusting your boat to Yachtfish.
Well, I hate to beat up on these guys, because the industry is really in tough shape right now. Long story short, I believe the key to making customers happy is to manage expectations. When you tell someone your going to paint the boat on Wednesday, so you can have your detail guy wax the boat on Thursday, then dog gone it, do what you said you would do. In a nut shell, a number of things they said would get done didn't get done. They did have a great price on bottom painting, but they tented the boat in such a way that a lot of paint dust landed on the port side of the deck and stained it badly. I spent my entire vacation day cleaning up after them. Had the tenting been done correctly there shouldn't have been any dust on the decks. Would I use them again? Maybe, but I'll do a much better job of watching over the work (not something I enjoy having to do).
Scott B.; We appreciate feedback and are upset that we didn't meet your expectations. Per our contract all you needed to do was contact the owner here to resolve this issue. We want our customers to be satisfied with the work that we perform. In regards to subcontractors, I am sorry about the confusion on this aspect of the contract. Due to insurance issues we cannot have unapproved subcontractors working on boats in our yard. The contract stipulates that you have 90 days to bring up any issues you have with our work so that we can fix them for you for free, but we did not hear from you instead we found this note here on yelp. We wish you had contacted us as soon as you found an issue.
Do Not take your boat here!!!!!!!!!! I am a pretty patience person but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. My boat lost power and quit running. I called Yaught Fish and told them and they said to bring it in. Two days later they called and said my boat fired up and was running fine. I asked them if they had taken it out on the water and they said yes and it worked well. It cost me $400.00 and they did not do or replace anything (other than look at plug ect).. Picked up boat and I drove the boat home. By the time I got back to Brownsville Marina it was losing power again and died as I got to my moorage and would not start again!! I called them back and they said it had to be bad fuel and to pull the gas filter and check for water ( you would have thought they might have already done this). I did so and there was no water in the fuel, then they told me it had to be my onboard computer and that I would have to call someone else and they gave me a person to call. I did as they asked and the mechanic asked me for the serial number on the motor and when he ran the numbers he told me that that my boat was not fuel injected but carberated and did not have a computer. This is where I start to get real nervous. I called them back and stated that there is no computer on the boat - now the yaught fish mechanic says well he can remember my boat. (WOW!!!) To their credit -Amy the manager did get a mechanic to come to my boat a week later to look at my boat. He was there 5 minutes and said it might be my coil, rotar or cap. None of the parts he brought!! He then told me that he would get those parts call me the next two days to come back and put those part in. I waited two days and called back on the third day talked to them and asked why the did not call and the mechanic said he could not find my number!! (unbelievable) So they now come to my boat and install the new cap a rotar- The boat starts up and they say its fixed. I take the boat out again and within 45 minutes she's back to doing the same thing and dies 4 miles out. I have to run in on my 9.9 kicker. what a pain. So I call again and tell them that my boat is still not running and I am having the exact same issues. This is what they tell me "Instead of us just throwing parts at it we recomend you take it to Kitsap Marine where they have certified Merc Cruizer Mechanices!!!! WOW Maybe this is what i should have been told 6 week ago and maybe now I might not be sitting at the dock for the start of Crab season ans 4th of July weekend. Basically do not take you boa here for any mechanically reason- I feel sorry for thier front desk manager as she is trying to do the right thing but has an inept mechanical staff

Great Pacific Northwest Roundup
- By Chris Caswell
- Updated: October 21, 2008
The Pacific Northwest has a well-established reputation for bad weather but, unlike the Northeast, there are few places to hide. That has bred a particularly rugged and seaworthy yachting tradition; fair weather yachts are not popular here.
Instead, both builders and buyers want yachts that can handle a wide variety of conditions, from rain and wind to high seas. They expect hulls that can stand up to storms as well as to deadheads. Oh, and protect against sunburn, too. Good thing the raised pilothouse, a favorite Northwest design, works equally well in the hot tropics, as do the covered side decks to keep sun out of the saloon in summer.
Aleutian Yachts
Aleutian Yachts in Tacoma Washington occupies a unique niche in the Northwest market where composite is king. Their line of steel expedition yachts, inspired by the rugged breed of Bering Sea boats, has attracted a following eager for models of 82, 92, 102, 112, and 122-foot open ocean explorers. The high flared bow with compound curves betrays a seakeeping ability and work boat pedigree sweetened with a fit and finish on deck and an interior of pure megaycht refinement. This purposeful luxury yacht with a “no monkey business” attitude is the creation of founder Greg Ward, who combines the steel hull and aluminum superstructure to produce a stalwart ABS commercial grade, go-anywhere vessel with tremendous interior volume. Their next launch features a stately Joe Artese interior and bulbous bow with 1,300 gallons of fuel tankage. The future is bright for this classy builder who builds to last.

American Expedition Yachts
Formed by an experienced team of naval architects and builders, this company has focused on creating rugged composite offshore cruising yachts with innovative design and styling. Three sizes are on the boards initially: a 70, 85 and 100. One of the most interesting choices a buyer will make is between a forward and aft pilothouse: one version creates a large boatdeck aft, while the other moves the superstructure aft with deck storage forward. All rely on continuously rated single engines with a patented “get-home” system for economical and secure cruising.

Christensen Shipyards
As the world’s largest builder of ABS and MCA-certified composite yachts over 35 meters, Christensen isn’t resting on their laurels. For 2008, they have two of their Custom Series 160-footers due to launch, including one that will be the fourth Christensen for that owner. A 163-footer named Casino Royale will be built for John Staluppi, who has had a long line of James Bond-named yachts. This “Millennium Edition” will have a full beam skylounge, elevator to all decks, and will have the first of the standard stern thrusters. The layout includes a main deck owners suite, five guest staterooms, and 10 crew. Also in the order book is the first 202-footer, which will be built in the new Christensen plant in Tennessee for John Rosatti, a long-time friend of Staluppi. At the new facility, Christensen will initially build yachts to 225 feet, but has bays that will handle yachts up to nearly 400 feet.

Delta Marine
A multi-talented builder, Delta works in composite construction as well as steel and aluminum. Delta delivered the 240-foot Laurel in 2006 as the largest yacht built in the U.S. in more than 75 years. Two diverse yachts are under construction for 2008: one a semi-displacement motoryacht and the other an expedition yacht. At 156 feet, slojo is a composite sistership to Mr. Terrible (2007) and Gran Finale (2002), but has been lightened to reduce the draft to 7 feet for shallow water cruising. With Cat power her speed will be 15.5 knots. Tom Stringer of Chicago is doing a casual and warm interior. Marama, Fijian for “lady,” is a composite 124-foot expedition yacht designed to cruise the Pacific. The full displacement hull has a long keel, was styled by Ward Setzer, and has a mahogany interior by Rothschild Design. With 23,600 gallons of fuel, Marama will have remarkable 9,200nm range at 10 knots, with 13.5 knots top speed.

Nordlund Boat Co.
Celebrating their 50th anniversary next year, this family-owned and run company has grown to become a well-known builder of composite yachts, often to designs of Ed Monk, Jr. and Tim Nolan. A recent launch was Joey, an 86-footer, and the company has three yachts on the ways. Due this spring is a 78-foot motoryacht for an owner with a background in sailing yachts. With classic styling, the yacht will have a flying bridge and hard top. Next will be an 80-footer with the same hull and lines. Just started is a 114-foot raised pilothouse motoryacht with the flybridge tucked just aft of the pilothouse, allowing room for a hot tub on the upper deck. This yacht is being fully equipped for fishing, from a cockpit bait tank to saltwater freezers.

Purchased in 2003 by Stephen Yadfish, whosel Yachtfish Marine on Seattle’s Lake Union is a popular Northwest yard for refits, the company has just completed hull and superstructure for a 125-foot composite motoryacht originally designed by Jack Sarin for Crescent Yachts. A spec yacht, Northcoast is ready to complete the interior to an owner’s requirements. Northcoast has also built several 85-to-87- foot motoryachts, with the latest being Fortuna 2 in 2007. The company is also offering a 117-foot catamaran motoryacht with a 30-foot beam and either twin waterjet or surface props for a top speed of 65 mph. www.northcoastyachts.com
Northern Yachts
Here’s a world-class builder of composite yachts in two styles: megayacht and expedition yacht. On the order books are two 151-footers of the motoryacht style, designed by Jonathan Quinn Barnett and based on the successful 130- and 152-foot motoryachts. The nearly 31-foot beam allows five spacious staterooms including a main deck master, plus a skylounge topped by a bridge with spa. One 151-footer will deliver early in 2008, the next in 2009. Northern’s trawler-style expedition yachts, based on rugged Northwest commercial fishing boats, include both 80- and 86-footers.
www.northernmarine.com
Northstar Yachts
Located on the Columbia River, this builder has launched an eclectic variety of semi-custom composite motoryachts in just a decade. Drawing on designs from Jack Sarin and Howard Apollonio, this builder specializes in yachts from 85 to 125 feet. Their 80 sportfisher series has proven popular with anglers, combining a seaworthy and solid hull with luxurious touches such as the enclosed flybridge and the soaking tub in the master stateroom. Recently launched was a 100-foot motoryacht; a 107-foot trideck is due for 2008. On the boards are a 115-foot trideck and a 112-foot raised pilothouse motoryacht.

Pacific Mariner
If there were an “Energizer Bunny” of boatbuilders, it would be Pacific Mariner, because this series-builder of composite yachts just keeps on going. Founded by the Edson family, their reputation bloomed with the Pacific Mariner 65, a classic raised pilothouse motoryacht designed by Bill Garden and styled by Greg Marshall. Delivered fully equipped from tender to spare light bulbs, it was well priced and buyers loved the turn-key simplicity. This was followed by an 85 from the same team that moved many owners up, as well as attracting a new audience. The 85 has a full-beam master suite as well as three guest cabins (two with queen berths).
www.pacificmariner.com
Rayburn Yachts
At this family-owned Canadian yard, the word “custom” doesn’t even begin to describe the exquisite workmanship. Headed by a father-son team, Rayburn combines old-fashioned craftsmanship with cutting edge technology. The joinerwork is world-class, but each yacht also has the benefit of 3D joinery design and comprehensive systems engineering including wiring and piping schematics. Recent projects have included trideck motoryachts of 94, 100, 105 and 108 feet. On the drawing boards are a Portuguese-bridged 85-foot sportfisher, a 112-foot raised pilothouse long-range cruiser, a 95-foot flushdeck open bridge motoryacht, and an 85-foot flybridge.

Richmond Yachts
Formed when Texas businessman Don Davis bought Sovereign Yachts of Canada and was able to keep the experienced team of boatbuilders together, Richmond has specialized in custom 142-footers from the Ward Setzer/Sean Pavlik team. With the fourth yacht, Status Quo, owner Davis will finally get one of his own. A fifth 142-foot trideck is due in the spring. Each has the “fun deck” arrangement with a protected deck off the skylounge for alfresco entertaining.

Westport Shipyard
Founded four decades ago to build tough commercial vessels, Westport made the transition to composites and built hulls for boatbuilders before starting their own semi-custom and custom line. Today Westports come in four sizes: 98, 112, 130 and now 164 feet. From designs by Bill Garden and Jack Sarin, Westport has built a reputation for beautifully finished yachts that can stand up to offshore conditions. For 2008, the company has five 130-footers and two 164-footers from the company’s new facility in Port Angeles, WA.

by Wes Ziegler + · Published January 28, 2021 · Updated April 26, 2021
The Pacific Northwest is a mecca for weirdos, mountain lovers, and seamen. Since that pretty much covers everyone who likes the outdoors, it’s no surprise the amount of rising outdoor brands we love that were born in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. These are just a few of the great brands who are busy changing the game of the outdoor industry from the shores of the North.

- 8 Of The Most Walkable Towns In The Pacific Northwest
You do not have to be always driving to your vacation destination, worrying about parking spaces, speed limits, or cops. Sometimes, one just wants to leave the car behind, amble through beautiful main streets, and access most travel-worthy sites by foot. Moreover, there is no better way to really know a place than by strolling down cobblestoned streets and popping (on a whim) into restaurants, art galleries, museums, and fancy boutiques. If this sounds worth trying, the following are 8 of the most walkable towns in the Pacific Northwest.
Astoria, Oregon
First-time visitors enjoy strolling through Astoria’s old Victorian-style houses, sampling its excellent breweries, and foraging through its delightful array of inviting restaurants. Astoria Brewing Company serves delicious draft root beer, while Bridgewater Bistro, with seats overlooking the Columbia River, is known for its sterling service and heavenly meals. Astoria has spacious sidewalks — and boasts a Walk Score of 86 out of 100. The Maritime Museum houses one of the country's finest displays of shipwrecks while the Hanthorn Cannery, a feature of the town since 1875, is the oldest cannery pier on the entire Columbia River.
Moscow, Idaho
Moscow’s streets are pedestrian-friendly and sidetracked with beautiful trees, making it one of the most walkable towns in the Pacific Northwest. It is arguably the most walkable town in Idaho. Moscow was originally named "Hog Heaven," and today, one can remove “Hog” and have an idea of what to expect. Tucked away on Paradise Creek, just north of Lewiston, Moscow is home to the University of Idaho, the state’s primary research university. This town is not just walkable: Downtown Moscow features almost 50 public bike racks, and many of the streets are hemmed with bike lanes. Grab a meal at the aptly named Nectar Restaurant, a Moscow culinary highlight known for exquisite cocktails and other delicious offerings. Pass some time at the Arboretum & Botanical Garden, where you will enjoy mingling with ducks, squirrels, and geese. The scenic Paradise Path winds through the university campus, downtown Moscow, and several local parks — and must be squeezed into an itinerary.
Leavenworth, Washington
Leavenworth is a storybook town that any artist will enjoy painting. The unobstructed view of the hills that frame the town adds a layer of charm that any first-time visitor will find endearing. The town sits close to the Wenatchee River and features both the rolling steppe of eastern Washington and the fir forests of the craggy Cascades. The town’s Waterfront Park is a tranquil place to inhale tasty views and is famous for its picturesque walking and biking trails. The lovely, rustic charm of Bavarian Lodge makes it a nice place to spend the night, especially after riding the Alpine Coaster at the Leavenworth Adventure Park. Alternatively, the Icicle River RV Resort, located on 50 acres in some of the most beautiful scenery in the West, can be an ideal place for wildlife viewing, afternoon strolls (there are nice paths along the creek), and water-themed fun.
Friday Harbor, Washington
Leave your car behind when visiting Friday Harbor, the major commercial center of the San Juan Islands archipelago. The eye-catching architecture here is old and grand and defines a downtown area that is scenic and walkable. One can treasure-hunt on Spring Street, watch the sunset at Shark Reef, sip delicious wine on a sunny patio at the San Juan Vineyards, or listen to the songs of different whales at the one-of-a-kind Whale Museum, which styles itself as the first museum in the United States devoted to a species living in the wild. Finally, the San Juan Islands National Monument, with its scenic hikes and foliage, is known to sweep first-time visitors off their feet and must not be skipped, however much one is pressed for time.
Ashland Oregon
“Charming” is just how to describe Ashland, a buzzy town of about 21,000 residents that features a lovely downtown and an adjacent 93-acre park that follows the scenic Ashland Creek. While there are some steep hills in certain parts of town, Ashland is walkable, elegant, and unbelievably rustic. The Cascades join the Siskiyou Mountains just south of town and serve visitors a delicious plate of outdoor fun and adventure. Lithia Park features a beautiful Japanese garden, two duck ponds, a formal rose garden, groves of sycamore trees, and several quiet and secluded spots. North Mountain Park, with its well-maintained gardens, labeled plant life, creek, and trail, is the perfect place to spend a slow afternoon. Get ice cream from Mix, a buzzing nook for delicate pastries — and explore spots such as the Southern Oregon University campus, Ashland's Historic Railroad District, and the area around the nearby Emigrant Lake.
Yachats, Oregon
Yachats is a dainty town on the Central Oregon Coast known to be among the most walkable small towns in the Pacific Northwest. With eye-catching sites such as the Heceta Head Lighthouse, one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the United States — and arguably the most photographed — Yatchats is deservedly called the "Gem of the Oregon Coast." Just south of Yatchats is Devil's Churn, one of the Northwest's most stunning natural wonders. Cute, ocean-facing shops line the downtown area — while art pours out from many spots, including the Earthworks Gallery, which boasts an outstanding variety of artwork all beautifully displayed. To take the edge off of any day, spend some minutes at Topper’s Ice Cream, especially if the day is hot and balmy.
Cannon Beach, Oregon
Known for its crystal-perfect sand, Cannon Beach is among Oregon’s most underrated towns . First-time visitors love milling around the iconic 235-foot-tall Haystack Rock, one of the tallest intertidal structures in the world. One will enjoy seeing puffins diving for fish here, some elk on the hillside leading down to the water, and making good use of numerous photo-ops. The town itself is swoon-worthy and filled with numerous pleasure spots. For example, one will enjoy a long stroll on the beach, willingly spend a whole day at Ecola State Park, and savor a warm drink at Sleepy Monk, which serves what could be the best Latte on the coast.
Port Townsend, Washington
Rounding off this list is the picture-perfect town of Port Townsend , also fondly called the “city of dreams.” Once arguably the largest harbor on the United States' West Coast, Port Townsend today features one of Washington's best-known National Historic Landmark Districts and is in Budget Travel’s Coolest Small Towns To Visit for 2023, the only town in the Pacific Northwest to make the cut. Spend the night at the Palace Hotel, an iconic 3-story gem built in 1889. Pizzas at the Waterfront are incredibly delicious, whether one considers the texture of the crust, the tangy sauce, the perfect amount of cheese, or even the homey, laid-back ambiance. After a filling meal, pass the time at the beach before crowning the day with some stand-out dinner at the Khu Larb, a lovely Thai restaurant known for finger-licking delicacies.
The Takeaway
However much a town is beautiful, it loses a piece of its soul if it is not walkable. As a vacationer, a walkable town comes with numerous advantages. First, it is always cheap to explore a town on foot. Save that cash for a snug cottage, a rustic cabin, or a pampered stay. Then again, walking is the best way to discover a place. There is the chance to stumble across areas of the city that are not intended for tourists. Those who want to experience this kind of adventure in the Pacific Northwest should check out towns such as Astoria, Oregon; Moscow, Idaho; and Port Townsend, Washington.
