I’m looking to buy a boat and would like to raise finance to help with the purchase, can you help?

Our team are very happy to help you with marine finance whether unsecured or marine mortgages. Typically you will need a 30% deposit and finance is available from £5,000 and terms up to 10 year in some cases.

I would like to sell my boat, how can you help?

Our brokerage arm Boatshed Suffolk is part of one of the largest yacht brokerage groups in the world with over 1m registered boat buyers. We are therefore well placed to find a buyer fast. We can purchase boats for cash and also offer part exchange on all our our boats for sale.

I’m looking to buy my first boat what should I be aware of?

Boating can bring huge enjoyment. There is of course lots to think about beyond just the purchase of your boat. You will need to think about somewhere to moor, ongoing maintenance and insurance before you even think about the right type of boat and the paperwork that you should have for the boat you are buying. Our experienced team will happily discuss all of this with you.

I have found a boat I like, what is the process to buy it?

Typically if buying through a yacht broker step one is to make an offer. This can be subject to various conditions such as full survey and trial. You will usually be asked to pay a 10% deposit and sign an agreement for sale and purchase. The boat is then taken off the market for you to carry out the survey and trails. Once you are happy, the balance is payable and the broker will arrange the Bill of Sale and conduct a handover. Then you are ready to go boating!

Andy Seedhouse Boats

Carl's Barbers Shack just pop in or ring 0773184469

A friendly but professional, family run business with an old fashioned approach to sales & customer service, situated on the waterfront of the delightful market town and boating centre of Woodbridge in Suffolk.

Andy arrived in Woodbridge from the Midlands in the early 70’s to join his parents who had moved there some years before. Boating had always been the family hobby and he soon realised that whilst you could order your yacht from one of the local yards, there was nowhere to buy a dinghy to hang on the davits!

He soon set about "plugging the gap" and acquired a premises on the Quayside and began buying and selling tenders, small fishing boats , sailing dinghies & day boats .

The Quayside Office – the nerve centre of the business

His intention was to bring boating to "everyman" and his early adverts boasted that he could " get you sailing or motoring down the river for less than £500 ". Several thousand boat sales later it seems he was right!

The business went from strength to strength and the range and size of boats he offered grew dramatically and now he has over 70 boats on display at any time, from dinghies to ocean going yachts – canoes to 40’ cruisers.

Andy, still with economy in mind, says that he can always find his clients a bargain if they don’t mind doing a bit of maintenance and "tidying" themselves. He also felt the same principle should apply to boating equipment and he began to build up an extraordinary collection of used chandlery, fittings and "boaty bits" in his " Aladdin’s cave " shop.

Andy's main riverside yard with a host of boats always on display

He is able to kit out his boat buyers & local owners at a fraction of the cost of them buying new. From life jackets for the kids to anchors, ropes, electronic equipment – the list is endless. The word soon spread and now his clients come from far and wide to buy fittings and equipment for their boats which perhaps are unobtainable elsewhere.

Our roadside display area with smaller craft of all types

Andy’s son James joined the business in 1996 and now plays a major part in its running. Also, Andy’s wife Lorna has always helped him, doing the bookwork, answering the phone and, as Andy says, keeping him and James out of The Anchor pub over the road! Truly a family run business.

Andys "Aladdin’s Cave" of used chandlery, engines and more

Have a look under " Boats for Sale " and find yourself a bargain or if you have one to sell look under " Sell your Boat " and see what back up is given under " Services " or contact him on the links at the top of the page.

Better still, why not call at his yard and have a browse round, all the boats have a full description and price attached to them, so you can look in peace anytime – the yards have 24 hour pedestrian access and there is a great cafe on the front doing "fryups".

They are open from 10am - 4pm Monday - Saturday but the yards are open for pedestrians to view the boats anytime from 8am - 8pm every day so enjoy having a good look round in peace and when you spot your ideal boat go to their office or ring them on 01394 387833 .

All in all a day in Woodbridge is well worthwhile.

  • Robert Clark Classic Mystery Class Sloop for sale

yachts for sale suffolk uk

  • CERESTE is such a perfect example of a state of the art late 1930s classic yacht that it\'s hard to believe the Mystery Class design was Robert Clark’s first, having served no apprenticeship with an established design office, or any training in yacht construction. Twelve were built just before and after the Second World War, with CERESTE one of the finest living examples following her extensive rebuild by Suffolk Yacht Harbour 1998-2001. In the ensuing years she’s been more racer than cruiser, with an enviable prize haul: competitive under both IRC and CIM without compromise to her beautifully proportioned sail plan. Her enticing accommodation, very easily handled rig, and the reputation for all round competence Robert Clark’s Mystery Class comes with, also guarantees that gentle or more ambitions cruising in CERESTE with family and friends will always give pleasure. With that added ingredient of the elegance afforded by a masterpiece.Show More

  • P40 Fast Motor Cruiser for sale
  • Spirit Yachts’ take on a stylish, beautifully crafted fast power cruiser/ superyacht tender was bound to be all curves, elegance and performance, and the Spirit P40 concept does not disappoint, with speed over the water complemented by smooth handling and impressive fuel efficiency. But the man whose life’s work has been to design and bring life to the astonishing output of this Ipswich-based boatyard can’t always choose the best days to be on the water for himself. So Sean McMillan took an open cockpit weekender version Spirit P40 and created in BILLIE a summer house so comfortable that it might be difficult to leave and go home after a weekend on the water – and that can comfortably relocate at 35 knots in a hurry and 22-25 knots if not. The P40 design lends itself also to race boat mothership and/ or superyacht tender roles. BILLIE has had her engines and all equipment fully serviced, fresh antifouling applied, and is ready to go.  Show More

Mike Lynch considered selling his superyacht months before it sank off the coast of Sicily but changed his mind after his acquittal, according to a report.

The tech tycoon, 59, was among six people who died when his superyacht , named the Bayesian, sank at around 5am on Monday near Porticello during a tornado.

Mr Lynch had put the £30 million yacht up for sale in March this year but withdrew it from the market in July, the Telegraph reported.

He had planned to spend the summer on board the boat and then review the decision to sell in the autumn, industry sources told the newspaper.

Mr Lynch, who founded software giant Autonomy in 1996, was cleared in June of carrying out a massive fraud relating to its £8.64 billion sale to US company Hewlett Packard. The boat trip was a celebration of his acquittal.

Following the ruling, Mr Lynch said he was "elated" and looking forward to returning to his family and his estate in Suffolk.

Mr Lynch, his daughter Hannah, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo, and his wife Neda Morvillo were lost when the Bayesian sank.

His wife, Angela Bacares, 57, survived the disaster.

Fifteen people including a one-year-old baby escaped the tragedy on a lifeboat.

The body of Canadian-Antiguan national Recaldo Thomas, who was working as a chef on the yacht, was recovered at the scene of the sinking on Monday.

Inspectors from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) are looking into what happened because the Bayesian was flying a British flag .

Prosecutors in the nearby town of Termini Imerse have also opened an investigation into the tragedy.

Giovanni Costantino, founder and chief executive of The Italian Sea Group, has described the Bayesian as “one of the safest boats in the world” and denied suggestions that the boat’s construction was at fault.

Meanwhile on Thursday, the Bloomer family described the couple as “incredible people and an inspiration to many".

They said: "We are grieving for our loved ones and all of those affected by the tragedy.

"Our parents were incredible people and an inspiration to many, but first and foremost they were focused on and loved their family and spending time with their new grandchildren.

"Together for five decades, our only comfort is that they are still together now.

"This is an unimaginable grief to shoulder."

Superyacht sinks latest: Search resumes for Mike Lynch's daughter - as investigators 'gather evidence for possible criminal probe'

Five bodies have been found and now identified in the search for those missing after a yacht sank off the Sicily coast, including that of tech tycoon Mike Lynch. Local investigators are gathering evidence for a potential criminal investigation into the sinking of the yacht.

The search for British tycoon Mike Lynch's daughter Hannah has not been "easy or quick" a spokesperson for the Italian Coastguard has said.

Vincenzo Zagarola compared the sunken superyacht to an "18-storey building full of water".

"From the first moment it has not been easy or quick to inspect the boat," he told the PA news agency.

"Think of an 18-storey building full of water."

Prosecutors in the town of Termini Imerese, Sicily, near where the Bayesian superyacht went down, are scheduled to hold a press conference tomorrow morning.

Earlier, we reported that investigators from the local public prosecutor's office are gathering evidence for a potential criminal investigation into the sinking of the yacht (see 7.29am post).

These pictures show rescue boats off the coast of Porticello, near where the luxury yacht sank, as rescue personnel resume search operations to find British tycoon Mike Lynch's daughter Hannah.

Search operations for the final person missing from the wreck of the superyacht continue, Italy's fire and rescue service has said.

It tweeted to say sea dives had resumed and added that "the long and delicate search operations for the last missing person continue".

The service shared pictures of rescue workers on boats preparing to dive.

The Italian coastguard hopes there will be progress today in the search for Hannah Lynch.

Asked if any developments were expected, spokesman Vincenzo Zagarola replied: "We trust."

Ms Lynch is the last tourist unaccounted for after six bodies were recovered since the sinking of the Bayesian on Monday.

A captain and maritime chartered surveyor has identified four potential issues that may have contributed to the yacht disaster.

Captain Ed Geary said retractable keels - a stabilising fin at the base of a boat - have "historic problems of failure".

"Whether the keel was up or down would have a serious impact on the stability of the vessel."

Second, he took aim at the UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency rules.

"The MCA delegates the inspection and certification and survey of these commercial vessels - up to 12 passengers - to profit-motivated, surveying societies, certification societies.

"Unfortunately, the quality is not as high as it should be," he claimed, adding some of their personnel were "untrained, unqualified and inexperienced".

Captain Geary also took issue with comments made by Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group,

"The builder of boat initially blurted out that the boat was unsinkable, which is kind of hard to fathom considering the boat is sitting at 50m below the surface of water off the Italian coast."

But the captain agreed with Mr Costantino's claims the crew should have been alert.

Sky News has contacted the MCA for comment.

Investigators from the local public prosecutor's office are gathering evidence for a potential criminal investigation into the sinking of the yacht, says news correspondent Ashna Hurynag.

British investigators have said its too early to comment on their probe.

A "blame game" has already started, with the chief executive of the company that owns the firm that built the vessel "laying some of the blame at the feet of the crew and the captain on board", she adds.

In an exclusive interview with Sky News, Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, talked about human error and accused the crew of not being in a state of alert.

Meanwhile, the search continues for Hannah Lynch.

"Divers are starting to get ready, and those search and rescue teams have been on site for the past half an hour or so," says Hurynag.

"Tributes have been pouring in for the six people who are confirmed to have died in this tragic incident."

The search continues for 18-year-old Hannah Lynch, the final person missing from the wreck of the Bayesian.

The body of her father, technology tycoon Mike Lynch, was recovered yesterday, while his wife Angela Bacares survived.

Divers paused their efforts at 8pm off the coast of Sicily last night and were expected to resume at 6.30am (5.30am UK time) this morning.

A decision on whether to raise the sunken yacht from the seabed is "not on the agenda", but will be in the future, said a spokesman from the Italian Coastguard, Vincenzo Zagarola.

The wreckage of the Bayesian is resting on the seabed at a depth of 164ft.

It had been moored around half a mile off the coast of Porticello when it sank at about 5am local time on Monday.

Mr Zagarola said the Italian coastguard's working theory is still that the missing woman is inside the boat.

Welcome back to our live coverage of the yacht disaster, as the search continues for the last missing tourist.

Hannah Lynch, 18, the daughter of British tycoon Mike Lynch, is still unaccounted for, while her father has been confirmed dead.

He was among five bodies recovered and identified yesterday.

Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judith Bloomer, as well as lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo were also named as among the deceased.

Meanwhile, tributes have flooded in for the deceased, including from the families of the Bloomers and the Morvillos.

A senior oceanography lecturer told Sky News it's "unlikely" Ms Lynch was thrown from the Bayesian and more probable that she will be found somewhere inside the vessel.

An Italian fire service spokesman said emergency workers "would need a crystal ball" to know if and when another body will be discovered.

Meanwhile, an investigation is under way into the circumstances behind the sinking.

The chief executive of a firm which makes and sells yachts like the Bayesian said the sinking may have been due to a series of human mistakes and questioned why its crew were not in a "state of alert" when the storm hit.

We're pausing our coverage for tonight but here is a recap of what we know:

  • The five bodies discovered in the wreckage of the sunken Bayesian have been identified;
  • British tycoon Mike Lynch, Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith Bloomer, lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo were all named;
  • Mr Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah Lynch remains unaccounted for;
  • A senior oceanography lecturer has told Sky News it's "unlikely" she was thrown from the Bayesian and more probable that she will be found somewhere inside the vessel;
  • Tributes have flooded in for the deceased, including from the families of the Bloomers and the Morvillos;
  • The chief executive of a firm which makes and sells yachts like the Bayesian believes the sinking may have been due to a series of human mistakes and questioned why its crew were not in a "state of alert" when a storm hit;
  • An Italian fire service spokesman says emergency workers "would need a crystal ball" to know if and when another body will be discovered;
  • Mr Lynch had reportedly considered selling the Bayesian earlier this year but changed his mind when acquitted in a major fraud trial in the US.

U.K. tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch missing as Bayesian superyacht sinks off Sicily

yachts for sale suffolk uk

UK businessman Mike Lynch, who was recently acquitted in the United States of an $11 billion fraud, is among those missing Monday after a superyacht sank off southern Italy, according to the head of the Civil Protection Agency.

The 56-meter-long luxury yacht, The Bayesian, had been moored off Porticello, east of Palermo, when the storm suddenly swept up the coast before dawn, tearing through beach clubs and little fishing ports.

Lynch’s wife was among 15 people rescued after the luxury yacht sank amid violent winds and rains off the Sicily coast, according to Salvo Cocina of the Civil Protection Agency, leaving six others missing.

Italian authorities have opened a probe into the incident as the emergency response continued Monday.

Lynch, 59, was acquitted on all charges in a San Francisco court in early June after he was accused of massive fraud linked to the sale of his software firm Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard.

He co-founded Autonomy in Cambridge in 1996.

US prosecutors accused Lynch of wire fraud and securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit offenses involving years of falsified records.

He had been extradited to the US from Britain to stand trial on the criminal charges.

A University of Cambridge graduate from Suffolk in eastern England, Lynch had disputed all charges and denied any wrongdoing. He was facing two decades in jail if convicted of the 17 charges.

A celebrated technology sector entrepreneur and investor, sometimes referred to as the UK’s answer to Bill Gates, he has won numerous awards and plaudits in Britain and beyond.

A spokesperson for Invoke Capital, another firm he founded, declined to comment.

Lynch was reportedly on board the boat with colleagues from the company when the storm struck.

Following his US acquittal, he had been critical of his prosecution in the US.

He had told the BBC that the only reason he was free was “because I had enough money not to be swept away by a process that’s set up to sweep you away”.

“You shouldn’t need to have funds to protect yourself as a British citizen”, he said in the interview aired earlier this month.
