WELCOME TO YYACHTS

We build light and therefore fast sailing yachts from carbon. Our credo is to reduce a yacht to what is necessary to provide our customers with a reliable, safe and pure sailing experience. At 70 to 100 feet – or 20 to 30 meters – in length, you will enjoy the ultimate comfort that only a luxury yacht can provide. It goes without saying that our designs are developed by the best architects in the world. Likewise, you can be sure that as a German shipyard we deliver only the highest quality. Fast sailing.

Fast Luxury Carbon Superyachts for sale made of carbon are much lighter than those made of GRP or aluminum. In light winds, sails can already be set on them, and on the regatta course they perform much better.

GREAT DESIGN

YYachts owners should feel comfortable on board. That’s why we only work with the most renowned designers such as Sir David Chipperfield, Bill Tripp,Lorenzo Argento, Design Unlimited, Surge Projects or Norm Architects.

EASY HANDLING

All lines and winches are located near the helmsman’s seat – this guarantees easy handling of the yacht with a very small crew. For cruising, all YYachts models have a self-tacking jib.

MS Yachtbau Yx

The MS Yachtbau Yx is a true crossover boat for people looking to further their exploration of the world and the oceans. Both the exterior and interior design is by Design Unlimited, and builds on the experience MS Yachtbau gained in creating a 74-foot sailing explorer vessel for a leading scientific foundation in Switzerland.

The Yx is an innovative yacht with go-anywhere capabilities, all in safety and comfort. The interior is spacious with an open plan saloon, a lower dining area connected with the galley, a full-beam owner’s cabin with private access, and several layout options for the lower deck and guest cabin configuration. There’s also crew accommodation, a utility room and plenty of storage.

The deckhouse is enclosed with a large panoramic roof and around the cockpit and saloon rise and fall windows allow the spaces to be open to the elements or sheltered when required.

The Yx has a modern exterior profile and the hull offers a generous six-metre beam.  Deck features are intended to enhance safety and the capacity for long range cruising with high, secure bulwarks and solar panels, as well as provide the desired lifestyle areas; a large sofa with sun shade, a dining area with sun pads and further seating, and a swim platform for easy access to the water.

Exterior Designer/Naval Architect: Bill Tripp

Interior Designer: Winch Design

Shipyard: MS Yachtbau GmbH

The goal in the development of the Tripp 90 was competitive performance on the regatta circuit, combined with comfortable sailing behaviour. This is achieved through YYachts’ customary consistent weight saving in the construction and finishing of the yacht: the Tripp 90’s hull, deck, internal structure and rigging are made of carbon. Thanks to its sophisticated configuration, the yacht can be comfortably operated by three sailors; thrusters provide support during manoeuvres in narrow marinas. This is one of the largest sailing yachts ever built in Germany.

The interior design of the Tripp 90 has been created by Winch Design. The spacious interior is minimalist and open plan, benefiting from plenty of natural light. Drawing stylistic inspiration from the U.S. East Coast and mid-century Scandinavian influences, as well as soft leather and light oak wood, the ambiance exudes understated elegance.

The owner attached particular importance to the design of the deckhouse – his wish was to be able to look out to sea while sitting in the salon. Bill Tripp therefore drew a nicely glazed deck saloon that not only takes into account the owner’s wish, but also floods the interior with plenty of daylight. It was also close to the owner’s heart to use materials that were produced sustainably.

Norm Architects Introduce Scandinavian Minimalism to MS Yachtbau's Luxury Sailing Yachts

Project name, architecture practice.

Detailed Information
Project NameBellaPosted in Architecture PracticeNorm.Architects
YearMarch 2019

Designed by Danish practice Norm Architects in collaboration with acclaimed US-American naval architect  Bill Tripp , and built in Greifswald, Germany, by esteemed yacht-builder MS Yachtbau , it would be fair to say that as far as sailing yachts go, “ Bella ” has everything going for it. Measuring almost 22 metres in length, with a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette and elegant interiors of Scandinavian minimalism, Bella, the first of the Y/Yachts model Y7, marries competitive sailing performance with comfort and style like no other.

Founded by Michael Schmidt in 2014, MS Yachtbau grew out a desire to manufacture the perfect sailing yacht. With an equal emphasis on both technology and aesthetics, the brand’s luxury carbon yachts are not only lightweight and fast, but also sport an interior design sophistication not usually associated with sailing boats. Manufactured in collaboration with an eclectic selection of international designers, each Y/Yachts model uniquely marries design, craftsmanship, function and the latest technology, and Bella is no exception.

Underpinned by a minimalist sensibility of elegant simplicity and understated refinement, the interior design is characterised by tactile surfaces, natural materials and matt finishes. Extensive use of wood veneer that gently follows the curves of the yacht’s hull, concealed lighting, and a selection of smooth and coarse fabrics create cosy, homely spaces that are also highly sophisticated. Crisp details and high-quality craftsmanship, from the frameless doors and seamless cabinetry to the convex and concave veneer surfaces, imbue the yacht’s interior with a sculptural quality as well as echo the streamlined profile of the exterior.

What’s really impressive though is how little the spaces reminds one of a yacht interior despite having to follow strict safety guidelines that require for example all furniture to be fixed and handrails to be installed. Instead of curtailing their vision though, Peter Eland and Linnea Ek Blæhr of Norm Architects have taken advantage of such requirements to enhance the yacht’s minimalist sensibility. Case in point, the mandatory handrails whose lithe silhouette of black steel is picked up by the slender desk lamp and bedside light fittings, as well as other black details throughout the interiors. From the smallest features such as these, to the extraordinary engineering that allows the 28.5 tons yacht to smoothly sail across the sea, Bella is a beauty inside and out.

Yachtbau Y9

Once again, Norm Architects’ soft minimal approach to interior architecture, aesthetics and materiality has been gracefully translated and applied to the settings and restrictions of a beautiful yacht by Michael Schmidt – this time, we’ve completed a Y/Yachts model Y9 that is now bringing out a warm and exclusive feel through tactile surfaces, natural materials, and matt finishes.

Photography

Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen

Serving as a comfortable retreat, the interior of the new Y9 Yacht has a serene character with few selected shades of color. To support an overall exclusive look and feel throughout the space, only essential and thoughtful bespoke elements take up space where needed. This way, the paired back interior has room for the life lived within – a simplified space, yet still rich in details and thoughtful in terms of material choices.

On the port side of the Y9, one will find a cozy lounge area, resembling the homeliness of a typical residential interior – hadn’t it been for the curved and organic outline of the space. While working with the bends and slopes of a yacht is definitely different from all our other projects, we have still strived for simplification, refinement, and the use of natural materials – never compromising the spaciousness. An approach and ambition that is indeed familiar to us.

ms yachtbau gmbh

Numerous handrails ensure a good feeling of safety on board. Always following the soft curves within, their look is unobtrusive and subtle.

Embracing the natural curves of the ship, unnecessary elements of its framework are removed to achieve a simpler, more coherent space with fluent transitions and soft thresholds that make for a calming home setting within the soft, minimal universe of natural materials and tactile surfaces. Now, beautifying details are found in the forms and high-quality craftsmanship of the subtle built-in, wooden elements.

With room for eight guests, the dining area is kept simple and comfortable. Taking advantage of the light that flows in through the windows, the space appears light and cozy. Framing the dining setup, the wooden lamella walls add a tactile sensation to the room – changing its appearance depending on the time of day and the position of the light flowing in. In case of swell, the dining chairs are fixed to the table with leather clips.

The workstation is only separated with a few steps and a room divider. By building the dividing wall halfway to the ceiling, we make sure to not restrict the spacious feeling within, while simultaneously creating a multifunctional space for the owners to reside comfortably in together.

The wooden, paneled walls and curved interior elements in oak add a warm, organic feel to the space, while optically stretching the space vertically to make the rooms appear more spacious. Sliding doors and inbuilt storage effortlessly blend in with the architectural framework of the boat, leaving no disruptive elements.

The master bedroom is placed in the bow of the yacht, with storage flanking the bed on both sides. To create a harmonious and coherent space, the cabinets as well as the bed are upholstered in a subtle suede textile, contrasting the dark, paneled walls and wooden floors.

ms yachtbau gmbh

The security requirements are met in style through elegant, built-in furniture that appear unfixed to create a homely feel, ultimately accomplishing an understated luxury.

ms yachtbau gmbh

Adjacent to the master bedroom, one will find a calm bathroom hidden behind the dark lamella wall. The material choices are drawn in and seem like a natural extension to the remaining interior. By only integrating the most essential, the space feels spacious in spite of the sparse square meters.

MS Yachtbau Y9

The Copenhagen-based architect and design studio, Norm Architects , are behind the interior decoration of a beautiful Y/Yachts model Y9 by Michael Schmidt.

Simple and minimalistic space Norm Architects, known for their soft minimal design approach, wanted to support an overall warm exclusive look and feel throughout the yacht. The outcome is a simplified and coherent space with few selected shades of colors that unite sophisticated and refined details, natural materials, and tactile surfaces – without compromising spaciousness or comfort. High-quality craftsmanship combined with understated luxury.

Tactile surfaces The Y9 Yacht serves both as a multifunctional space and a comfortable retreat for the owners, where they can feel at home. Embracing the natural bends and slopes of a yacht, Norm Architects succeeded in creating a homey feel and harmonious interior within a soft, minimal universe of natural materials and tactile surfaces. The dining area offers enough space for eight guests and appears light and cozy, taking advantage of the light that flows in through the windows. In case of waves and wind, the dining chairs are fixed to the table with leather clips.

Featuring ROYAL NUBUCK The cabinets in the bedroom as well as the bed are upholstered in ROYAL NUBUCK . A subtle suede leather in contrast to the dark lamella walls and wooden floors, softening up the space.
