The Yacht, or Sailboat, is an abandoned boat that can be found in a bay on the southwestern coast of the Peninsula . It contains a fair number of supplies, but it can be dangerous to access without a boat due to sharks that may dwell in the waters around it.

It is suggested that the yacht group came to the island purposefully sometime in 1984 (via the Yacht magazine's date ), in order to use the resurrection obelisk or to rescue the group's children from said obelisk (see suggested theories below). Multiple obelisk drawings can be found scattered around the yacht table. A milk carton can also be found depicting a missing child, Zachary, similar to the missing siblings . Nearby in the yacht, a photo depicting a Virginia can be found.
Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong for the yacht owners. No live persons from the group can be found, though the Red Man may be seen wandering the yacht the first time the player approaches it in any save file. Blood, gore, and a severed head inside the boat suggest the owners may have met a violent end.
A few bodies that may to belong to the yacht group can be found in various locations:
This last one, found on the bed, could be the owner of the yacht. It looks like the person was possibly committing suicide because of the "calm" position it is lying in.
Theory 1) Sahara was taking children to their lab , and the yacht group (comprised of the Missing Siblings' parents and Zachary's parents) came to the peninsula to rescue their children. They were not prepared for the mutants and cannibals, and the group was therefore overrun. One became trapped in Cave 2 and built a wall to keep the cannibals out, and summarily starved to death. One died (probably via cannibal or perhaps shark) and was buried on shore. One died (probably via cannibal or perhaps snow/exposure) and was buried in the mountain area. The last parent committed suicide on board upon realizing the hopelessness of their venture.
Theory 2) A father/mother had their child be kidnapped and killed, and somehow found out about the peninsula's resurrection obelisk. They decided to come to the island with friends/family to resurrect their child, but found the challenges of the mutants and cannibals (and possibly still existing Sahara) too great. The child was buried on shore, and the parent killed themselves aboard, with other inhabitants having their bodies scattered across the Peninsula (in Cave 2, the beach grave, and the mountainside grave). The Red Man appears on the yacht because he mirrors this story, except he decides to not give up, and thrives against the cannibal challenge.
Theory 3) The film camp inhabitants are the same people as the yacht inhabitants. The Charles script is dated to the same year as the Yacht magazine , which is possibly coincidence, but more likely not. The bodies at the film camp are much too fresh to be from 1984 (with flies still buzzing about), even as the weathered-ness of the tents suggests that the campsite has been there for many years, as compared to the other modern tents that can be found throughout the peninsula. The Yacht has four known bodies, and the film camp has 5 tents, suggesting the one other unlucky person was dragged away by the cannibals.
Due to the use of the keycard two to open a door on board the yacht and the artifact inside the locked room the above theories are generally disproven.
This is a fairly common area to start a base , though it is one of the most dangerous (see enemies below). The suitcases and yacht along with the ample number of booze bottles on the beach nearby provide a nearly limitless amount of Molotov cocktails. When you dive on cliff-y ground with corals, you can find oysters . The waters nearby have fish to catch with a spear . The player is unable to build on the deck of the yacht, but can build in the interior of the yacht. However, not all structures will be usable after being built (for example, water collectors and drying racks appear to function normally, but fire pits cannot be lit). This, coupled with the yacht's cramped interior space, severely limits the potential for base build-up on the yacht itself.
Patrols of cannibals frequent the area often, especially if this was a crash location. As such, building a base on the ground nearby will lead to frequent and repeated attacks, though a tiny base can be built on the island behind the yacht without fear of cannibal attack. Additionally, if the player is overwhelmed on the shore, they can simply swim to the yacht, where the cannibals cannot go, easily escaping.
Additionally, there are often sharks around the boat and in the bay, which can kill the player in two hits if the player is too close. As such, it is recommended to have a small raft for boating back and forth between the little island / yacht / beach, so as to avoid the sharks.

Breaking news, all about the $40m bayesian yacht that capsized, leaving 6 dead and 1 still missing.
The massive superyacht Bayesian that sank off the coast of Italy on Monday won numerous awards for its sleek interior design — and was sold to its original owner for nearly $40 million.
The luxury sailing ship was carrying 22 people when it capsized and sank during a fierce storm early Monday.
The bodies of five of six missing passengers, including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch , 69, have been recovered. His daughter, 18-year-old Hannah, is the only one of six known killed in the tragedy yet to be found, a source close to the rescue operation told Reuters.
The ship’s chef, Recaldo Thomas, has also been confirmed dead.
Divers continued searching the wreckage of the 184-foot-long, British-flagged vessel, previously called Salute, on Wednesday after discovering four of the bodies.
When it was built in 2008, the Bayesian had the tallest aluminum mast in the world, standing at 237 feet, earning it the award for best exterior styling at the World Superyacht Awards in 2009, the Telegraph reported.
The sprawling superyacht’s interior, decorated with sleek, minimalist furnishings created by Remi Tessier, has also won numerous awards.
The ship, which accommodated 12 guests, had a master bedroom and three double and two twin bedrooms.
It also featured beige sofas, dark wood furnishings, and a teak deck equipped with a large canvas awning to keep guests cool, according to the outlet.
Some of the ship’s styling, including thin brown pillars and miniature terra cotta sculptures, was inspired by Japanese culture.
The extravagant ship won best interior at the International Superyacht Society Awards in 2008 and was also voted one of the best large sailing yachts at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards, according to the outlet.
The yacht’s original owner, John Groenewoud, a Dutch real estate developer, reportedly bought the ship for £30 million ($39 million) when it was built. In 2014, he sold the ship with an asking price of £27 million ($35 million).

The Bayesian is currently owned by Revtom, a company that listed Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, as its legal owner.
It was named after the Bayesian statistical model that helps financial investors calculate risk — the subject of Lynch’s PhD that later helped him build his empire.
The vessel, operated by yachting company Camper & Nicholsons, had twin 965hp MTU engines, which gave it a range of 3,600 nautical miles at 13 to 15 knots (14 to 17 mph).
RSB Rigging carried out rig service works on the ship with Astilleros de Mallorca, a shipyard facility in Palma, in November 2016.
The Bayesian returned in September 2020 for scheduled service works, including having its mast removed and reinstalled.
Steve Branagh, managing director of RSB Rigging, told the Telegraph: “At this time, our deepest sympathies go out to the friends and families of all those affected by this dreadful tragedy.”

A Lake Forest man convicted of defrauding companies who paid more than $3 million for gloves during the COVID pandemic has been sentenced to seven years in prison and ordered to forfeit a yacht and nearly $60,000 in cash.
Christopher John Badsey, 63, told three companies he had access to millions of boxes of nitrile gloves in June and July of 2020, a time when this crucial protective gear was in short supply with law enforcement agencies and hospitals even struggling to get access. The national stockpile of nitrile gloves fell from 16.9 million in December 2019 to just 2 million in October 2020, according to a U.S. Government Accountability Office report to Congress in November of that year.
When Badsey agreed to sales contracts, he told the companies that the gloves were being stored in a warehouse in Los Angeles, and they had to pay deposits of more than $1 million. Badsey told them to wire the money to accounts controlled by himself, his business in Irvine called First Defense International Security Services Corp. or a co-conspirators, according to prosecutors.
In total, the companies wired $3,231,990 for the gloves. But the gloves Badsey was claiming to sell didn't even exist.
"In fact, Badsey did not have any gloves stored in any warehouse," reads a statement issued Friday by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California.
In a sentencing memorandum, federal prosecutors wrote that he "used the deposit money to make expensive purchases, all while stringing would-be purchasers along with false stories, including absurd claims that government agents were blocking access to his warehouse of gloves."
In April 2023, he pleaded guilty to four federal charges of wire fraud.
In addition to the prison sentence and restitution, Badsey has forfeited all title and interest in possessions he has purchased with the money made from the glove fraud — a yacht, a pontoon boat, $58,923 in cash, two Mercedes-Benz vehicles, an RV, two Ford pickup trucks, three ATVs, a tractor and some fishing equipment, according to prosecutors.

26 March, 2018 / On Sunday, March 25, in the shopping and entertainment center "Winter Cherry" in Kemerovo there was a severe fire, more than 60 people were killed. This tragedy became the second largest fire in present Russia in terms of the number of victims. Our condolences to the families and friends of the dead and injured.
The history of the development of Kemerovo is closely connected with the development of Western Siberia. The oldest settlement on the territory of today’s Kemerovo was the village of Scheglova located on the right bank of the Tom River and first mentioned in 1701.
In 1721, the ore prospector M. Volkov found “combustible stone” (coal) near this village for the first time in Kuzbass. However, at that time this discovery didn’t lead to any practical steps for the development of these coal deposits.
By 1734, not far from Scheglova, along with a number of other villages, the village of Kemerova emerged (later Kemerovo; named after the first settler A. Kemirov). In 1825-1827, the Shcheglovskoye coal deposit was studied by geologists. In the 19th century, there were several villages in the territory of the future city.
In 1907, the Kemerovo mine was founded on the basis of the Shcheglovskoye coal deposit. In 1915, the main shaft of the Kemerovo mine was built. In 1918, the village of Scheglovo was transformed into the county town of Scheglovsk. In 1921, coal production in Kuzbass began to rise. In 1926, the population of the town was about 22,000 people.
More historical facts…
With the development of industrial construction, the town began to grow. In June 1930, a session of the Town Council considered a draft design for the planning of Scheglovsk. The city was designed for 130 thousand residents. When considering the project, the question arose of the name of the city. The residents actively participated in the discussion of this issue.
It was decided that the name of the former village of Shcheglova didn’t have a direct historical connection with the city specialized on the extraction and processing of coal. On March 27, 1932, Shcheglovsk was renamed Kemerovo. Its further development was associated with the rapid development of industrial production. In 1938, the city had more than 100 industrial facilities. In 1939, Shcheglovsk had about 133,000 residents.
In 1941, during the Second World War, a number of plants were evacuated from the western regions of the USSR to Kemerovo. Gunpowder and explosives were produced at local defense enterprises. On January 26, 1943, the Kuzbass Industrial Region received the status of a separate region (oblast). Kemerovo became the administrative center of Kemerovo Oblast.
In 1945, Kemerovo was a miserable sight with numerous dilapidated buildings and undeveloped streets. The city urgently needed a development and improvement plan, which was made over four years from 1947 to 1951. Kemerovo developed according to this plan until 1970. The city continued to grow, absorbing nearby villages. In 1989, the population of Kemerovo was about 520,000 people.
On October 16, 2006, the Kuznetsk Bridge was commissioned in Kemerovo - one of the widest bridges (40.5 meters) in Siberia, which replaced the obsolete Communal Bridge.
In today’s Russia, Kemerovo, as before, is a large industrial center. Income from coal mining occupies a major place in the total income of the city.

The City Hall of Kemerovo
The city of Kemerovo is located in the forest-steppe strip of the southern part of Western Siberia, in the northern part of the Kuznetsk coal basin, on both banks of the Tom River at the confluence of the Iskitim River. The right-bank part of the city is connected to the left bank by two automobile and one railway bridges.
The climate of Kemerovo is sharply continental. It is characterized by a long cold winter lasting about 5 months and a short, quite warm summer. The average temperature in January is minus 17 degrees Celsius, in July - plus 19 degrees Celsius.
The City Day is celebrated on June 12 and coincides with the Day of Russia. On the last Sunday of August, Kemerovo celebrates Miner’s Day. The airport of Kemerovo located about 2.5 kilometers south-east of the outskirts of the city offers regular flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Sochi.
On the coat of arms of Kemerovo you can see the image of a stylized chemical retort and gear parts that symbolize the chemical and engineering industries - the main directions of industrial development of this city. Ears of wheat symbolize the fertility of soil associated with the use of mineral fertilizers produced at the chemical enterprises of Kemerovo.
Kemerovo is one of the largest industrial centers of the region (chemical and coal industries, mechanical engineering, electric power generation). JSC “SDS Azot” is one of the largest manufacturers of nitrogen fertilizers in Russia. The presence of raw materials (coal, refractory clay, limestone, quarry stone, gravel, wood), a convenient industrial site, and railway communication led to the creation of a powerful energy-chemical complex here.
The recreational potential of the city is represented by a pine forest on the right bank of the Tom River, as well as an island and beaches on the Tom River.
In total, there are more than 100 objects of cultural heritage in Kemerovo. These are monuments of architecture and urban planning, monumental art, history and archeology. Kemerovo is in the full sense a city of miners and most of its attractions are somehow connected with the mining industry.

Friday briefing.
The final night of the Democratic National Convention.
By Natasha Frost
🇺🇸 U.S. ELECTION 2024
The presidential election is less than 80 days away. This is what we’re watching.
Vice President Kamala Harris ceremonially accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for president last night, issuing a call for unity and a warning that Donald Trump is an “unserious man” whose return to the White House could have devastating consequences for the U.S. Here’s the latest .
“With this election, our nation has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism and divisive battles of the past,” she said. And she warned, of Trump: “Consider the power he will have — especially after the United States Supreme Court just ruled he would be immune from criminal prosecution.”
Harris also devoted time to her personal biography, explaining that she was driven to be a prosecutor to protect people like a high school friend who had confided to her that she was being sexually assaulted by her stepfather.
The speech culminated Harris’s swift ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket — and kicks off what will surely be a furious 74-day sprint to Election Day.
Trump visits Arizona: Trump traveled to the southwestern border to highlight immigration, an issue Republicans believe will give them an edge in November. Talking about the 2020 election results, he seemed to actually acknowledge his defeat. “I got many millions more votes than I got the first time, but didn’t quite make it — just a little bit short,” he said.
Trump appears preoccupied with Harris’s looks . “I’m a better-looking person than Kamala,” he said this week.
Harris’s tax plan would aim for $5 trillion in increases over the next decade, drawn from the wealthiest Americans and corporations .
Trump spoke glowingly of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. amid reports that Kennedy would end his troubled campaign and was considering endorsing the former president.
A hip-hop mash-up of years-old, anti-Trump comments by JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, is spreading widely on TikTok.

Amid severe clashes over the budget and increasing evidence that Ukraine was behind the blowing up of natural gas pipelines between Russia and Germany, the German government has come under increasing pressure at home to roll back its support for Ukraine and push harder for negotiations to try to end its war with Russia.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz has insisted that Berlin will not diminish its aid and will remain, as he said in Moldova this week, “Ukraine’s biggest national supporter in Europe.” But his three-party coalition government is increasingly unpopular and facing critical state elections in September, with pressure from both the left and the right.
The primary burden on the government, which can seem paralyzed in making major financial decisions, is the constitutional requirement to keep new budget debt to no more than 0.35 percent of G.D.P. That constraint has put pressure on military spending in general, as well as the government’s aid to Ukraine.
