Exceptional Yachting

The added waterline length and reduced fuel consumption and increases range by 500 NM. The yacht has the same elegant but no-nonsense design philosophy as her smaller sisters, but her larger size permits her to travel further and provide her guests and crew with even more luxurious accommodations. She has three staterooms all en-suite with a separate crews quarters aft. Standard power is twin MAN V12-1550hp engines, and MAN V8-1000hp, & MAN i6-800hp engines are optional. She has a range of 2,000 nautical miles at 10 knots and, can achieve speeds in excess of 20 knots. She is equipped as standard with Aquadrive vibration isolation systems. She has twin 29KW Onan generators, centralized hydraulic system driving American Bowthruster stabilizers, bow thruster, stern thruster, and twin Maxwell windlasses. A custom central monitoring system with three 15″ color touchscreens displays all onboard systems, including tank levels, bilge & fire alarms as well as a fully controllable CCTV system.

This 90 ton yacht, like all Fleming’s has been built to European CE Category “A” Standards, and she presents the ultimate balance of rugged construction, engineering excellence and artful elegance. Fleming Yachts are the “Ultimate Cruising Yacht,” and the Fleming 78 is the ultimate Fleming.

Also offered is the Fleming 78 Classic Edition which has become a popular alternative for owners wanting a different style of flybridge. The Fleming 78 Classic takes cues from her sibling, the F65, with a lower, sleeker profile due to a single-level flybridge. Additionally, the longer boat deck increases space for seating and a tender or watercraft.

Trained as an aeronautical engineer, in 1985 Tony started Fleming Yachts in Taiwan at the highly respected Tung Hwa yard. The demand and popularity of Fleming has seen over 300 boats built and delivered in the last 37 years. Since “retiring” in 2005, Tony now extensively cruises his 65 allowing time to dedicate to his other passions; filmmaking, writing and photography.

The Fleming 55 is a luxury motor yacht designed for long-range cruising. It was first introduced in 1985 and has since become one of the most popular models in the Fleming Yachts line. Powered by twin diesel engines, typically either 500 or 600 horsepower each, which provide a cruising speed of around 10-12 knots and a maximum speed of around 17-18 knots. The Fleming 55 is a well-regarded and highly sought-after yacht among those who enjoy luxury cruising and exploring the world's oceans.

The Fleming 65 was introduced in mid 2005 in response to a strong demand for an intermediate Fleming between the 55 and the 75. Her layout is very similar in concept to the 55 but the 65, being around 70% larger in displacement, offers much more interior and deck space than her smaller sibling. Fleming Yachts decided to retain hull number 1 to evaluate her design performance as a well­found cruising yacht as well as providing a test bed for new equipment.

With true ocean crossing range, the Fleming 85 will take you anywhere you want to be in the world, in total comfort, grace and peace of mind. The mission with the 85 was to design and build literally the finest possible ocean-going pilothouse motor yacht, in every respect. Two versions will be available. A traditional open flybridge for those who prefer the wind in their hair and the traditional style Fleming or an enclosed pilothouse on the upper deck, still fully outfitted like a Fleming pilothouse should be but down below more space is opened up for flexible dining and entertaining options.

After extensive research and input from existing Fleming owners, we identified the need for a boat to bridge the gap between the 55 and the 65. While retaining the Fleming classic lines, the 58 is an entirely new boat designed from the keel up. The naval architects selected to assist the in­house Fleming design team were Norman Wright and Sons in Brisbane, Australia who, with their special expertise in hull design and tank testing, have been designing semi­displacement passagemakers for more than 100 years.

Building on the success of the well­established Fleming 55, Fleming Yachts introduced the magnificent Fleming 75 in 2000. Ten years later the Fleming 75 was redesigned with a longer hull, longer keel and bulbous bow to become the new Fleming 78. The added waterline length and bulbous bow reduce fuel consumption and increase range by 500 NM. The yacht has the same elegant but no­nonsense design philosophy as her smaller sisters, but her larger size permits her to travel further and provide her guests and crew with even more luxurious accommodations.

It Starts With The Best Materials & Equipment

If you're not willing to invest in the best ingredients, why bake the cake? Much like a professional chef sourcing the best food to prepare, the Fleming team purchases only the very best materials for the construction of every boat. From the highest quality Cook gelcoat to the premium Core-Cell foam materials, absolutely nothing is short-changed in the construction of a Fleming. Here are just a few of the highlights of the construction techniques in the ultimate cruising yacht:

• Fleming uses Burmese teak to high-grade marine plywood throughout the construction of each model.
• Only the best metals are used from 316L stainless steel to Ni/Al/Br struts and propellers.
• The highest quality tinned copper boat wire and cable is used and is always over-sized.
• Trident Marine hose is used for all plumbing specific to each liquid (fuel, waste, fresh and salt water) 
• Only the best equipment in every category is chosen to be outfitted specifically for Fleming.

To Be The Ultimate Cruising Yacht, It Needs To Be Capable Of Extraordinary Adventures

A Fleming is not your ordinary cruising vessel. The cutting-edge construction processes that each model goes through results in a strong, durable yacht capable of handling adverse conditions while giving you the comfort you require. It begins with the solid fiberglass hull that is reinforced with an inter-locking matrix of frames and full-length, box-section stringers. Only the finest vinylester resins are fused into the Core-Cell foam. The result is a strong, stiff hull, but one that will not flex under pressure. On top of all that every Fleming receives five coats of epoxy barrier boat before the anti-fouling, rendering it’s hull impervious to blistering via osmosis.

Every Fleming is certified as Class A, meaning that each vessel is built to navigate the open ocean, are able to surpass waves higher than 4 meters, and are entirely self-sufficient in difficult seas. Whether cruising up the coastline or venturing off on a longer trip, Fleming strives to build the safest and most comfortable yacht for personal cruising. It is designed to be run by a couple with ease of access to controls and equipment, as well as considering ease of maintenance as well.

The abilities of a Fleming cannot be discussed without mentioning speed. This is truly a characteristic that separates Fleming from the competition as it can operate both economically and reach speeds over 20 knots. The traditional trawler yacht generally reaches its top speed at around 15 knots and run very economically at 6 to 8 knots. This is also true of Flemings. For example, the F65 can reach 20 knots, but only burns 5-6 gallons per hour at nearly 8 knots. This fast cruising is appealing to most luxury cruising enthusiasts as sometimes it's necessary to push the throttle down. 

Safety Doesn't Happen By Accident

There are many things that the team at Fleming takes seriously, but among the most important is the owner's safety on board. There is no room for error when designing a safe yacht that will be tested in adverse conditions on the open ocean. From thoughtfully placed hand-holds and railings to the low center of gravity for easy boarding, Fleming owners truly appreciate the effort that goes in to keeping them safe on the water.

The side-deck of the Fleming features a swinging door that seems to line up perfectly with the dock, making it easy for guests, children, and pets to board with confidence. Is the tide out and you're at a fixed pier? Enter through the gate at the Portuguese Bridge.

Providing a higher level of intelligence and awareness on board is crucial for safely operating a Fleming on long-distance cruises. The BONING monitoring system is specifically built for Fleming and gives an unprecedented level of access to your yacht's fluids, components, and notifications. The system provides alarms while operating, but also can be sent remotely to your iPad or smart phone.

Comfort You Can Truly Feel

Every Fleming interior is designed with the liveaboard concept in mind. Cruising on board for 2 or 3 months requires the comfort features from home including the storage capacity for sufficient supplies,  generous closet space for clothing, natural light and air throughout the lower decks, and all bathed in the most beautiful teak wood throughout. Fleming provides accommodations truly fit for a luxury resort. If you're going to be cruising for months at a time, there really is no better way to travel.

 All of the effort to create a comfortable environment to rejuvenate yourself after a long day on the water is for nothing if it's too loud to sleep. Fleming goes to painstaking efforts to drastically reduce the amount of noise and vibration throughout the yacht. Often described as "whisper quiet", Fleming's generators are double-mounted on anti-vibration mounts that are bolted on very dense platforms. Whether cruising to Alaska and you need heat or island-hopping in the Caribbean and need air conditioning, adequate generators on board are a necessity. Extra noise and vibration are not.

In addition to paying close attention to the vibration from the generators, Fleming also makes a significant effort to reduce engine noise as well. The engine room air intakes are located under the cockpit coaming and away from the master and guest staterooms. This not only reduces the salt spray from corroding the inside of the engine room, but it also greatly reduces noise while cruising. The entire engine room and all accommodation bulkheads are insulated with a blend of sound deadening and sound absorbing materials.
