My yacht club is inexpensive! Maybe late to the party here but wanted to share: last boat I had in a slip for $150/mo. Thought the local yacht club would be prohibitively expensive… but I was dead wrong. Dues and storage I'm all in at $50/mo (trailer - waiting list for slips at same price).

While some believe boat club membership costs are high, the average cost of a boat is $60,000 to $70,000 and that doesn't include the yearly cost of upkeep, transportation, storage, insurance, and supplies. That's a costly investment if you aren't sure you want to commit significant time and effort into boating.
I spend $2,500 per 7 month season to dock it. I generally use it 2 to 4 times a week. I anticipate keeping my boat for at least 5 years. So, $12,5k for storage, $5k for maintenance, and the $14k for the cost, I'm at $31,5k. At $450 a month you're looking at $5,400 a year, by five years, that's $27k, plus the $5k up front you're at $32k.

Our Local YC is $2000 to join and 400 a year dues. Membership is on the decline, its a lovely club, but the average age is 65+ as i am just 40 and my wife is 31, its really not that appealing as a social club.
galumphix. •. The only clubs in the area (I believe) that have more than a few keelboats that members can check out are the Seattle Sailing Club, Windworks (both at Shilshole) and the Kirkland Sailing Club. I was a member of SSC for several years and recommend it, and I've met KSC staff and they're great, too.
