A Complete Guide to the Top Sunset Cruises in Key Largo
Frequently asked questions about key largo sunset cruises, how long are sunset cruises in key largo.
Most sunset cruises in Key Largo will last between 1 and 2 hours.
Where do Key Largo sunset cruises leave from?
Each sunset cruise is different! There are many different marinas around town. Some also leave from restaurant docks, like the Cruisin’ Tikis. The departure location is provided for every tour in this list! When you book a tour, the meeting point will be specified.
What time do sunset cruises in Key Largo depart?
It depends! During the summer months, the sun might not set until around 7-8pm, so tours tend to leave a little later during this time of year. In the wintertime, the sun sets a lot earlier, so cruises typically leave between 4:30pm – 5:30pm.
How much do sunset cruises in Key Largo cost?
Again, it all depends! The tours in this post range from $50 to $150. However, I’d say the average is around $80.
What’s included in the price of a Key Largo sunset cruise?
Unlike Key West, where there are dinner cruises and cruises with unlimited bars, Key Largo is a little more low-key. Most Key Largo sunset cruises are BYOB, but they typically have water on board and a cooler for your beverages! None of the cruises in this list include food.
What should I wear on a Key Largo sunset cruise?
Key Largo sunset cruises are very casual! You can wear a bathing suit under your clothes if your tour includes time for swimming. Most men will be in shorts and t-shirts or Hawaiian shirts. Women can wear shorts, casual sun dresses, whatever you want honestly! There’s no dress code.
Where to Stay in Key Largo
If you’re planning a trip to Key Largo, you might be wondering where the best places to stay are. I’ve got you covered!
Key Largo is the first Key you will hit as you drive from Miami to Key Largo , and there are all kinds of different places to stay. From vacation rentals to luxurious resorts, you are sure to find something to fit your style and budget. Here are my favorite spots!
Coconut Palm Inn: A tropical hideaway located on the bayside! Recipient of Travel and Leisure’s annual “40 Secret Hideaways” in the world. The property puts off “Family Beach House” vibes and captures the true essence of the Florida Keys.
Kona Kai Resort: A budget-friendly resort nestled into the bayside! Perfect for those looking to escape the crowds. There are only 13 bungalows on the property, plus a pool, gallery, and more! You can read my full review of this property here .
Playa Largo: An Autograph Resort collection hotel, Playa Largo feels more like a “hotel” than the others, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t gorgeous. The property is incredible, with a luxurious pool, beach bar, and plenty of activities to keep you busy. I recommend checking out their Sol By the Sea restaurant where you can dine in the water!
The Bungalows: The definition of true luxury! One of the only all-inclusive resorts in the Keys. The property has two pools and two beaches, cabanas, snorkel gear, yoga classes, and more! Expect to pay a pretty penny for this incredible resort.

Other Things to Do in Key Largo
Aside from the epic sunset cruises, there are tons of other amazing activities in Key Largo to check out.
My favorite thing to do in Key Largo is to go snorkeling . The Florida Keys, and Key Largo specifically, are home to some of the most incredible coral reefs, tropical fish, and other amazing undersea creatures on the planet.
In fact, the waters around the Keys make up the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary , over 2,900 square nautical miles of protected underwater world.
Because of this, there are tons of different Key Largo snorkel tours to choose from. Or, if you are a certified scuba diver, I highly recommend going diving in Key Largo! You can scuba dive at the famous Christ Statue or through a shipwreck!
Make sure to check out my detailed Key Largo Snorkeling guide for more information!
If snorkeling or scuba diving isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of things to do in Key Largo (though most still revolve around the water).
You can go on a sea kayaking tour through the mangroves and look for manatees along the way! Or, you can ethically swim with dolphins at Dolphins Plus. Another option is to make the quick drive from Key Largo to Islamorada and feed the tarpon at Robbie’s !
If none of this sounds appealing to you, you might want to choose a different key to visit. For example, if you have small children, there are a lot more things to do in Key West that don’t revolve around the ocean. You can read more in my comparison guide between Key Largo vs Key West here !
Final Thoughts
As you can see, choosing a sunset cruise in Key Largo doesn’t have to be difficult! From private charters to a public glass-bottom boat tour, each sunset cruise is unique in its own way.
No matter which Key Largo sunset cruise you decide on, you’re sure to be blessed with an incredible view as the sky lights up orange, pink, and purple! Key Largo sunsets are not something to miss. Make sure to keep an eye out for the green flash!
