Whether you are cruising off for a romantic weekend on board a luxury charter yacht, stepping aboard for a family celebration, or spending the weekend basking in the Mediterranean sunshine with friends, a superyacht charter is a heady mix of glamour and barefoot luxury. So, when it comes to looking the part, what should you pack to ensure you looking effortlessly cool?

A superyacht charter demands a certain dress code that is both comfortable and stylish at the same time. This might sound simple, but ccreating a capsule wardrobe for every scenario and occasion is no mean feat when it comes to the glamorous world of yachting. However, although there are certain designer names that are synonymous with the superyacht set, it doesn’t mean it’s all designer suits and gowns – quite the opposite in fact. The majority of superyacht cruising grounds are in warmer climates, so lightweight clothing is a necessity for both daytime and evening. The perfect daytime outfit will be suitable for just about any occasion – the whole attraction of yachting is the freedom to go anywhere you like and do anything you like at any given time. One minute you might be heading ashore for a coffee in the harbour, only to find that the cobblestone streets are lined with boutiques just waiting to be explored, or that fellow guests would like to take in a dose of culture ashore, followed by an impromptu swim in a secluded cove on the return tender journey. Being ready for every eventuality is the key to keeping your cool.

When it comes to a superyacht, swimwear is an outfit in its own right and one of the most important items to pack. For ladies looking for true, dolce vita style, a one-piece swimming costume not only looks stylish but will allow you to mess around worry-free on the watertoys, both above and beneath the surface. Meanwhile, those looking to simply bask in the Mediterranean or Caribbean sunshine and relax on deck might prefer to opt for a strapless bikini to avoid tan lines visible under the evenings attire. A selection of classically styled cover ups to wear for al fresco dining or a beachside lunch are a must, and for visits ashore a light dress, such as Heidi Klein’s Sunset maxi dress, is perfect.

A number of different options should ideally be taken, so that you can select the style to suit the weather and activity. On still days glam it up poolside with a wide brimmed straw hat, and when the wind picks up don a stylish cap, which can also be used to provide shade for that morning beach run.

Wherever you are exploring, be it in cooler climes or chartering in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, it goes without saying that a great pair of sunglasses is a superyacht wardrobe essential. Not only do they complete the superyacht look, they also provide essential protection from both UVA and UVB rays. On that note, check the UV protection – just because you might have a designer pair of glasses, a high price tag doesn’t always mean they have polarised, UV protection lenses. Take at least a couple of pairs, or even perhaps one for each deck, so that you are never caught without, and remember, a pair of chic sunglasses are the perfect finishing touch for every look. Whether you prefer cat-eye sunglasses or oversized, round-frames, square-frames or classic aviator styles, use them to liven things up a little, or add a dash of youth and vibrancy to your outfit.

Time on board means a break away from timekeeping, but although telling the time on board is incidental rather than functional, watches still have their place on the packing list. Watches are the most popular and prestigious jewellery available for men, and always add timeless glamour to ladies' attire. Fortunately, yachting has become the most prominent port of call for watchmakers and as such there is a wealth of nautical collections for both men and women. From serious submersibles to refined pieces to wear on deck, seaworthy or yacht-worthy, a watch makes a fine addition to any outfit.

Whether celebrating with cocktails on board or accessorising swimwear, earrings, bracelets and necklaces add sparkle and glamour to any outfit. From fine jewellery for evenings to layering for a luxe-vibe poolside, add some summer sparkle and enhance your outfit, day or night. Choose brightly coloured stones to bring light and warmth to the skin, or mix or clash colours, turning up your brights with vivid hues. What to Wear on a Luxury Yacht - With Dress for a Night

S o, you’ve received an invite to a luxury yacht party and the wardrobe panic has set in.

We get it — a day or evening spent breezing around on a yacht calls for a great outfit.

While most of us are pretty comfortable with picking out an outfit to wear to a bar or cocktail venue, a luxury yacht might feel like uncharted territory.

The goal is to nail an effortlessly glamorous look as you would for any other party but to simultaneously tap into that relaxed, beachy vibe.

What to Wear on a Luxury Yacht 

If you’re heading out on a luxury yacht, why not go all out with a luxe outfit? It is in the name, after all.

So, the brief for your look is ‘glamour’.

As for the outfit itself, your decision will largely depend on whether the event is taking place during the day or after dark.

Below, we share our top outfitting tips for daytime and nightime luxury yacht events.  

Generally, daytime events feel a little more casual, but a daytime event on a luxury yacht? That’s an occasion that calls for something equal parts elevated and playful.

Think of it as the oceanic equivalent of a garden party or cocktail luncheon.

Of course, your outfit will need to be informed by the expected activities of the day.

If you anticipate you might be diving overboard for a quick dip, we recommend a high-neck ruffle hem mini dress.

The high neck feels chic and dressy, while the flippy hem adds a fun and relaxed element, ideal for the beachy environs. The high neck also means you can wear your swimwear underneath!

For boat parties strictly on-deck, we love a midi dress or two-piece set.

The beauty of this seaside location is that you have a little more freedom silhouette-wise than you would at a formal garden party or luncheon.

Overly structured silhouettes can feel a little heavy for a luxury yacht. Instead, lean into that tropical vibe with something that shows a bit of skin.

A crop top and skirt, a midi dress with cut outs, or something with a plunge neckline fits the bill. These shapes are location-appropriate but also feel a little more wearable for a sea adventure.

As for colour pallet, you could opt for hues that complement the environment (think lush greens and blues) or go all out with a vibrant rainbow-inspired look.

If colourblocking is your thing, make a statement with a hot pink or vibrant orange outfit with contrasting accessories.

For those who are more print-inclined, keep your accessories understated and let your dress or set do the talking!

Evening Event 

If you’re spending your evening on a luxury yacht, there are two styling approaches we recommend.

The first is a breezy look. Think slinky midi dresses or relaxed wide-leg jumpsuits and two-piece sets. Look to plisse, silk, chiffon, crepe, and georgette fabrications. These materials tend to billow and float, giving you that dreamy, elegant seaside look.

With breezy silhouettes, look to softer hues such as greens, blues, and pastels. Avoid deeper hues such as blacks and reds, as these can feel a bit too weighty for a balmy location.

To accessorise your breezy look, add drop earrings and keep your hair out, toussled by that salty sea air!

The second approach is a sunset-inspired look. This is a winner if you’re cruising at dusk. Go for something in a glowy gold or orange hue. This colourway will work beautifully against the landscape of the sun setting over the ocean.

Midi dress silhouettes feel especially relevant for evening events. Look to styles that give you shape, but avoid bandeau or skin-tight pieces, as these tend to feel nightclub-esque.

In this case, we recommend something comfortable and casual, but with a playful flair. Our top picks? Shirred mini dresses, wrap silhouettes, shirt dresses, and floaty midi dresses.

A shirred mini dress feels fun and summery, especially when pared back with white sneakers. Go for a classic all-white look or bring some colour into the mix with a bright floral print.

Shirt dresses are notoriously easy to wear, so you know you’ll be comfy all day long. Whether you’re a print lover or you’re all about the classic white or blue shirt, you can’t really go wrong. The bonus? You can wear the shirt dress undone over your swimwear during the day for some extra sun protection (plus, it looks really chic).

Tiered midi dresses are a summer staple for a reason. They’re breezy, flattering, and can effortlessly be styled up or down depending on the occasion. For your boat party, add a boater hat and earthy-toned sandals for a laidback yet considered look.

If you prefer something with a little more shape, a wrap dress is the way to go. Yacht Fashion Is The Classic, Preppy Look Taking Quiet Luxury To The Next Level

There's absolutely no doubt that Princess Diana was the ultimate fashion icon of the 20th century.
